Unfortunately, Debbie isn't wearing her silver afro wig from FEAR & LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS. Dick Cavett does his Walter Brennan impression and Debbie Reynolds doesn't do her Barry Fitzgerald impression.
+cavettbiter; Thank you - for giving me a chance to smile, in light of the terrible double-whammy of both mom, and her beloved daughter, passing away as they did. I've ALWAYS admired Ms. Reynolds, for her chutzpa, in the face of adversity. She was a true 'survivor', of many things, including the terrible (financial) 'misfortunes, and Carrie…well, it's obvious the 'apple doesn't fall far from the tree', as she also managed to weathered her own storms, and came out if - a bit battered from it all, but, one trait both mother and daughter shared is their ability to - having come through these events, catastrophes, to share them - sometime humorously, sometimes, with pathos, anger regret. But, they always captivated us, because there was a 'realness' about them - a quality which made people - be they be from the 'boondocks', to a to Bel Air, the bad marriages, the alcoholism, etc. - hit us, and we could identify. I'm watching Carrie's HBO special - Wishful Drinking, and I caught a glimpse of this, and just from the caption, and picture, I said to myself; 'I GOTTA see this', and that's why I thank you. for putting a smile on my face.
@kamenstien I'm afraid the US version of "class" doesn't impress some of us. Her narcissistic cravings in spite of her daughter's needs do not impress us either. Self centered and incredibly insecure, it's such a sad case.
