Ennio Morricone was my son's favorite composer. My son passed away five years ago. Forever thirty one years old. The grief and the heartache is still there. I feel so guilty still being alive. He was my only son, I loved him so much.
I am so very sorry for the pain you are going through. I almost lost my 31 year old son this summer to liver and kidney failure (self-inflicted by alcohol abuse). It was a miracle that he survived. I love him so much. He is very musically talented, a classical pianist and a composer but troubled deep within. Please don't feel guilty about being alive. You need to be alive to be able to help others who are going through similar situations. I will pray that God will give you the strength you need. He knows the pain you are going through. He gave His only Son to die on a cross for our sins. He loves you very much. God bless you dear.
I'm a 30 years old man, but right now I'm 5 years old, because I'm crying like a little kid. No soundtrack makes me cry like this one does, not a single one.
I am now 91 and of Italian descent, I first heard Morricone,s work in the movie Cinema Paradiso I was moved by the movie and especially the music. I thought nothing would compare with that score and then i saw Malena ,Once upon a time in the west, The mission and several others and each time the scores were unforgetable. I am so thankful to Maestro Morricone,he left this world a better place.
People have no idea how good times are right now! Good old days, (for the large part) my ass! Music I haven't heard in over 50 years. Shows and cartoons lost until now. Instructional videos for every task you can imagine! And that's just RU-vid! The internet put the answer to every question you'd ever have, and the Library of Congress for that matter, right at your fingertips! We are lucky indeed! I was born almost too late! I wish I'd had my whole life with this in it!!
I'm 43 years old. My all time favourite film is Once Upon a Time in America. But that film would nothing without Ennio Morricone's music. Masterpiece. Uncomperable legend...the film and the music too.
@@qewfsdsd65445 270 minutes version should not exist anymore that was the early leone version at home when he was thinkin to release a double 3 hours movie, then he created the 270 minutes cut. but today the max we can have is the 3 hours and 50 minutes restored editing. leone approved anyway the normal version, i mean the european cut, i am from rome, italy i never had the american 130 chronological minutes freak version for my fortune
I feel you, man. Born in ´77, too. I´ve watched the movie first when I was 13 so seen from the kid´s eyes. I watched it again in my 2o´s so seen from the best times. But now that I get old I´m afraid to watch it again. Noodles did many things wrong same as me. Wish we could turn back the hands of time.
Anyone else have instant tears 5 seconds in? If a human being can create something as beautiful as this we live in hope EDIT: Two years since I posted this. Thanks to everyone that replied & the words remain the same. Stay strong and sending positive vibes to you and your families.
Ennio Morricone wrote the score to one of my favorite movies ... Cinema Paridiso ... I can't watch that movie and not shed a tear .. and it's primarily because of the musical themes .. beautiful ..sentimental.
I am from Turkey. I'm 22 years old and I cry every time I listen to this song. When I was a kid, I watched movies with my father every night. I remember the old days. I see how painfully human beings are losing their humanity day by day. I see how meaninglessly emotions disappear. This is very embarrassing for us. I try to nourish my soul by watching these beautiful movies and listening to these beautiful songs.
In my opinion, no modern musician has ever captured deep emotions and humanities of life in film better than Maestro Morricone. There are great film composers, but Ennio Morricone was one of a kind. Often the films, as great as they may be, fell short on their impact on us when compared with the impact of the accompanying scores and melodies provided by this superb late composer, who will be ever present with us with the great music he left with us.
but, but, but, but, but ... this was the logical consequence of "the best one" 🤪. Yes indeed You cannot say Ennio was the GREATEST because there where a lot more very good composers (Barry, T. Newmann, Elfmann, Horner, etc. etc.) But You are right ... in his time, te was "in my opinion"(!!!) The Best.
If you combine this masterpiece of a song with an important loss such as a separation or bereavement, well then it becomes heartbreakingly beautiful....love as if it were your last day.......
Hello , I found this incredibly moving when I heard it for the first time last year , it really is a stunning composition , the running bass note is the only one of it's kind that I am aware of , it's a master class in modern orchestral music. Truly buetifull . Stephen.
"Has it ever struck you that life is all memory, except for the one present moment that goes by you so quick you hardly catch it going?" Tennessee Williams
Ennio&Sergio is like Nutella&bread. So Proud to be Italian, so proud to be human being. Every year I start the year watching this MASTERPIECE!! I'm 52 and every year watching this movie and listening this music, i relive all my whole life, from childhood until now. And i cannot stop crying.
As a man who is now 62 years old, I am luckyenough to experience all the wonderful music of Ennio… and working also in the film industry …. I have to admit, that no other composer was able to to reach my heart with his music so instantly.!!! although he’s gone, he left us so many beautiful and heart touching.pieces of music…. He was able to to create music for so many different stories, and still be reached with every. Composition the heart of the viewers.. It was the sound of his music, that forced me to cry at the end of Cinema Paradiso …. The theme of the good the bad, and the ugly was a company for all my life,… he really was a genius and one of a kind. The world lost a remarkable human being.
I always feel like these amazing films fail to be viewed by many people today, but the fact that over 3 million people have watched this video reassures me.
+Jacob Ryan Harris well only 1,5 million have watched it, supposing everyone who views it views it only twice, which is highly unlikable. I have come to this video at least 5 times now
As an Italian, I am obviously proud of how much Ennio Morricone is esteemed, loved, around the world. I grew up with Stones, Yardbirds, Animals, Who, etc. But how can you not love the balance of Ennio Morricone's Harmonies? But I do not claim any Italian exclusivity on Morricone's music. Because his music is art. And the Art belongs to the Whole Humanity !!! May the earth be light to you, Master !!!!
Yeah, me too. I also grew up in the USA to the tune of Beatles, Stones, Yadbirds, Who, etc. Morricone's scoring for strings is exquisite and his use of extended chords is almost jazz in nature. Bravo Morricone!!
I don’t know you, obviously… But I have a strong feeling when they say “look for the good people, they’re always around.” you are one of those good people:). Hope you’re staying safe, sane and healthy…
@@nyman4686 Ciao, I also always hope to meet good people. And I am happy to have met another one in you. Especially in such a circumstance. I remember like yesterday when I saw the film in the cinema. I still rejoice the tears of that time at this scene. Because Poetry is Poetry and that's it !!!! Un saluto affettuoso dall'Italia !!!!
Ennio was my late wife’s favourite composers, every year on her birthday and at Christmas I play his music and I can almost feel her cheek to mine as I hold her in the air.
My husband and I loved the movie and this song. He died 18 months ago and listening to this right now made me being overcome with intense Love and Sorrow. Smiling for the blessing of having been his wife and the pain for having lost him.... It's haunting yet so beautiful, even soothing.
Everytime the world turns its back on me, everytime people treat me like shit, everytime I get ridiculed, rejected and isolated, I come back to this. Telling myself someone from the same species made this piece of music. Man can't be that bad. There still must be some hope for humanity. Thank you Signor Morricone. Thank you so much.
I've had similar experiences to you, not all humankind is bad, develop a sense of humour and cut toxic people out if your life, animals and nature are innocent.
Listen to me! I am a proud Englishman but I have to hand it to you Italians....I love your people, your country, your food , your fashion,Your sporting expertise, your warmth, your culture, and most of all your passion! Suffice to say Ennio sums up ITALY in a nutshell. Forget about his music relating to movies. His music in its own right would stand up to any of the great composers in world history! I would have to say he is the greatest composer of our generation. I have been watching a TV documentary here in England about this incredible man...What an education for me! This is probably my most favourite piece of music from Ennio?I know that is a difficult decision to come to as Ennio has composed and produced the most amazing portfolio of music compositions over the years! I hope you Italians understand this analogy but it is like saying ''how long is a piece of rope?''' But let's cut to the chase....Ennio's talent comes along once in a generation! not only a special talent but a special man! RIP ENNIO XXX
Definitely I first saw the film in 1986 over 3 long episodes on channel 4 I think. Its still my all time favourite film. And if and when I get married this is my song walking down the aisle. Let's see xx
We are in our 90's. thought we knew all of the music and all of the Composers, but the music in the film ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA was so emotional to us music is the inward soul of all of us. THANK YOU SO MUCH
Yes,the music by Ennio Morricone isso beautiful and helps me to watch the movie without judgement and feel incredible pain of human beings, not just the innocent boys and girls born in the Jewish ghettos of NYC and pulled into the life of a gangster and thug. This is the last movie from the director Sergio Leone who had an untimely death at the age of 60 right after making this one. All his movies , including Western like the clint Eastwood's Dollar trilogy and Once Upon a time in the West, the music in this movie hits me the most...
Jennifer Connelly was my first TV crush and is still is...when i saw her as young Deborah i was totally mesmerized. We are the same age. And morricone 's music added to the emotion...
first saw the film in '85 or '86 and was amazed. had (and have) never seen anything like it. had to watch it twice to understand the story line fully as i was/am pretty dumb. decades later i still hold that it's the best film i've seen in my life, by far. i NEVER watch a film more than once... but this one; 15 years later when poverty finally lifted sufficiently, i bought the dvd, and i've watched it four/five times now. beautiful in so many ways and that beauty is only enhanced, even created in parts, by the wonderful soundtrack.
He filmed longest rape scene in the movie history and called it "cry of love" and portreted rapists as a victim. He was fat, mysoginist piece of shit and history will place his name where it belongs. Sorry not sorry
The music of lost opportunities and squandered possibilities. Then at the end of your life you're left with only what could have been. Everyone has a Deborah.
@@dpc983 To me what I find so fascinating about any art form is how a painting or piece of music can be so moving to one but leave another feeling nothing. John Barry is another favorite of mine . Hans Zimmer doesn't do anything for me personally. But above all, Ennio Morricone's film scores for me are so full of passion and emotion. His piece, " On Earth As It Is In Heaven" is like a spiritual awakening every time I hear it. That is my two cents worth. I enjoy reading different opinions and finding out what others hear. How blessed are our artists to be able to create and move us in so many different ways.🙂
Having memories of Once upon a time in the West, Once upon a time in America... The Mission (Gabriels Hobo).. Le Professional (Chi Mai) and many others... Morricone was a genius. He has produced such incredible and memorable melodies... goose bumps every time again ....
ENIO MORRICONE WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST ARTIST !!!!!!!!!..OHH, YOU PEOPLE, TO FEEL THE MUSIC AND UNDERSTAND IT, YOU MUST HAVE AN OPEN HEART AND SOUL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HIS MUSIC HAS ALWAYS CALMED MY SOUL AND HEART !!!!!!!!!!!!!... R.I.P. ENIO MORRICONE, YOUR AMAZING MUSIC WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whenever I listen to this music, my heart is filled with emotion & moves me toward tears. I think I should have it played at my funeral. I am grateful to Morricone for composing this really heart-touching music. From Seoul, South Korea.
I close my eyes and this beautiful melody helps me to remember all the days of my long life and the many blessings I had and the adventures I’ve been a part of.
This man deserved an oscar for every soundtrack he wrote...i personally think that The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) is composed by several fucking deaf..
Some nitwit from the U.S. distributor reportedly failed to file the proper paperwork, so that Ennio Morricone's score, regarded as one of his best, could be put up for nomination for an Academy Award.
Johan Lebbing Peter O'Toole, Richard Burton, Gary Oldman. Morgan Freeman has been Nominated as best actor on Three occasions and never won (He does have a best supporting award). Denzel Washington won best actor for training day along with Halle Berry that was just plain condescending. While some amazing people have been awarded for their work other greats have been ignored.
bighands69 ok..you're right..we could add other thousand names...but here we are talking about a genius, about the NUMBER ONE with all respect for the great great names you ve mentioned...first class actors for sure...
giobabi Morricone is like Peter O'Toole never winning an Oscar. It is just insane to think neither of them have won an Oscar. Morricone is one of the greatest modern composers. And his work can easily sit along side the likes of Samuel Barbers Adagio for Strings.
bighands69 Morricone has been nominated for 5 Oscars. In 2007 he won an oscar for his magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music. Another 56 wins & 41 nominations. But for me, he should have won oscars for many of the movies hè composed like this movie, and once upon a time in the west, The Untouchables, The Mission, Cinema Paradiso, and many more. It`s very unusual he only got one oscar, and not for a movie. Besides, he is a foreigner, and the oscar-committee ( A bunch of very old real american men.), is more fund of american composers, but....that`s the opinion of more soundtracklovers.
My brother asked the same....and we did....he wanted nothing else, no speeches, no songs, no prayers...just this piece of beautiful music.....and that’s how it was...it was beautiful....
Stupenda Clip. Ohh Sergio, Sergio Leone. Grazie. Walter Post Scriptum Mica dimentico l'atto di violenza di De Niro.
I was lucky enough to see this awesome magnificent composer live in concert and I had the best 2+ hours of my life I was mesmerised and shed tears and I never once picked up my phone to record as the man was a genius and I still live his concert in my memory 😢😢😢
I had the tickets to his concert in Moscow a few years ago, but it was canceled cos of his illness. Since then I’ve never had a chance to see him in concert. And now I never will. Rest In Peace, Maestro 🙏🏻
Music for the soul in every country of the world and will remain an all time classic for decades to come, resembling the purest feeling of all . Our first love as young children.
He really Is the best. He knew how to honoured all the various human emotions in his music: from love to sorrow, from heroism to desperation, from courage to fright.
@@LinusWelt let's say that he and John Williams are the best from his era, but also the best composers. Yes Hans zimmer is superb and Thomas newman is splendid, but still have much 2 give.
