Debt, Dating, & Scams in Thailand 

Years ago I had a relatively rich Loan Shark girl friend in Phuket who was a local and her family stretched back many generations, and by the looks of her and her father and brother, maybe they stretched all the way back to when the Portuguese colonised Phuket. She held the deeds to peoples land and homes, she also had local thugs on the payroll to chase up unpaid debts. That was very off putting for me coming from a very lawful and egalitarian country like Australia, so I soon moved on.

Reminder to all as I sit here on a journey from deep Isaan rural to North Canada that it is over 40 hours. Like holy crap over 40 hours. So any romantics remember to factor that in your love algorithm ❤ For a break whilst traveling and talking on LINE, that works great, here is some percentages they replied for scams. - Scams. Big cities about 50% chance - Scams and Debt. Small village about 5% chance and mostly a drug or gambling problem they are trying to support. - Debt. Small village very common and usually hard working, honest people that had a bad crop or business year and recovering. - Korat area and close to city like Rob is of course as Rob honestly reports in all his videos. For the loans I suggest watch some video like the 7 habits of the rich and why they are not poor. I admit at first thought why even talk about all this stuff with Davo and look surprised as this is general knowledge and nothing to learn as everyone knows this ... then thinking, maybe it is just our duty to talk about so others that don't know can learn in an interesting video?. I admire the good of Rob to do this on his learning channel. If you like car stories... I went to buy a 4x4 capable vehicle. Asked the cute saleslady in the angora sweater if I could try the 4x4 feature on a mound. She got all excited. Said yes. So I said oh you don't sell many of these. She said sold 6 this morning and everyone bought because credit approved. Also. Hear stories of car dealers refusing sales for cash and insisting buyer take a loan. Obviously making more money on the loan. Off to a charging station and pondering opening franchise gyms at airports for exercice between flights many of us would love.

If they say there is debt and don’t produce any official documentation name address you have to be kidding right 🤷🏿‍♀️ I keep saying it Is it a real relationship or not goes both ways honest open communication understanding and compromise

Hello Rob another great video with great content,,, I have been chatting with Thai lady for about 3 years now (I live in Seattle Washington currently) I'm planning on going visiting her soon,,,, she has built 2 fairly quaint nice small homes that she occupies along with her brother and sister-in-law with there two children ,,, what's another way to find out if she has occurred any loan debt without raising any big red flags or being too noisy? Or maybe it's none of my business? Any feedback would be appreciated Thank you,,,, be safe 🙏

Thailand is a Safe country when you think of Violent Crimes. I dont even second guess my safety at 2AM walking down a Dark Alley Lost.. But when it comes to Scams. Oh my God ! Thailand is at the Top of the List !!

how do you make sure they have no debt? pawn shop loans are common. car debt, house debt. but how to know is there is more? (i m not particularly concerned in my case)... I would and have always asked for documentation.

I wonder what the law is regarding these loans. There should be some consumer protection.

On self reflection my ex Filipina gf in 2006 needed cash to pay off a loan (maybe there was no loan)! And then again there was another Flipina in 2020 (but she was hot-worth it)
