That onion trick actually really works and is what professional chefs use. Your supposed to leave one of the butt ends on so it keeps the onion in tact and it doesn't fall apart when your making the cuts.
@Lily Hyde not necessarily. U can cut the root off and use the cutting technique. It didn't work for her because she cut the slices all the way through 😂
Rachel, take a close look at the Onion cutting video.. because that is how i cut my onions. I learned it in my school ( not that old ) .. i was in chefs training . You did the first 3 steps right .. then you cut in the Onion till allmost at the end .. and then slice the other side and then you slice the Onion normal .. that way you are way faster in cutting an Onion.. ... and your mom and you together make so many funny videos ! You can't cut though all the way though the onion, you have to stop like 1/2 cm from the end of the onion to keep it from falling apart while cutting. That cutting an onion technique was taught to me in a high school class and its actually pretty great..

For the onion, you keep the root end in tact when slicing so it stays together 😊 It works, that's how I learnt to cut an onion! Loved the video, you and your mum are awesome! 😄
Rachel, I love when you do vids with your mother because you are having fun and spending quality time with her. Some people don't do videos with their family members that often.
For the second one youre supposed to keep the root end intact and cut close to the edge so that you have a place to stabilize it. It looked funnier the way you did it though.

You did the onion one wrong... you leave the root on and cut towards the root but not all the way then you cut the other way (it also stops yours eyes watering as much)
just came down here to say: they did the onion one wrong. you're not supposed to cut it all the way through when you do the vertical cuts. you have to leave a little "root" that holds together the rest of the onion. that was all ok byeee
