Debunking the Myth: Are Mormons Breeding Criminals?
This video provides a thorough investigation into the claims that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly known as the Mormon Church, is responsible for producing violent criminals. We scrutinize the evidence presented by critics and compare it with the experiences and beliefs of current church members. Highlighting cases such as the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping, we explore the role of faith, community, and individual choices in shaping these tragic events. Our approach is balanced and empathetic, aiming to foster a deeper understanding of the complexities involved. By addressing common misconceptions and presenting well-researched information, we strive to create content that is both educational and compelling, optimized for SEO to ensure maximum visibility and impact. 📰📈

What is interesting is I watch the show Snapped and Snapped Killer Couples. Most of the true crime documentaries mention those who are members of the LDS Faith. They don't disparage the Church in anyway, do not blame the Church, and present information specific to the reality of the crime that is committed. And how the individual is caught and prosecuted for their crimes.
@yorgasor
@yorgasor 15 дней назад
What they don't have is a background in mormon history and theology so they miss a lot of the mormon context in the crimes. For example, Brian Mitchel was extremely devout LDS. He was in a bishopric and played the role of Satan in the SLC temple. He then joined a couple mormon communes in Idaho where he became more radicalized and took on more fundamentalist mormon leanings. He would have learned the teachings of early prophets and apostles that state polygamous marriage was a requirement of exaltation. They wouldn't know the religious justifications Brian likely used to consider himself a righteous prophet while still committing these horrendous acts. Those are the gaps Mormon True Crime aims to fulfill.

She does blame the criminals... She just also dives into how Mormonism plays into the motives and psyche of these particular criminals and victims. She also never makes the claim that there are proportionally more Mormon criminals than criminals of other faiths. One reason to take issue with Elizabeth Smart saying that her faith helped her through her ordeal is that she's also said that lessons like the licked cupcake lesson she had in young women is one of the things that kept her from trying to escape sooner, so please continue cherry picking. Would you call a man in his 30s who wants to marry a 14 year old girl a pedophile? I sure would... So why do you think this label shouldn't apply to Joseph Smith who married several 14 year old girls? You can read a lot of his child bride's journals, they didn't want to be married and really struggled. So maybe stop clutching your pearls at the comparison. This is a hit piece, not a debunking.

Since day 1 of Joseph telling others about the first vision members of our faith have been subject to the craziest rumor milling for so long that basically anyone who wants to make money off of clicks can start something like True Mormon Crime Stories show and say the nuttiest things and people will eat it up. Much of the culture we live in lacks the intellectual curiosity to find out the truth about the very people they work with and live near that this crazy stuff gets a lot of play. Hulu has taken this to the next level with their "reality" stories and other "Mormon" themed shows that it's clear there is a market for this kind of nonsense. RU-vid is Hulu's bush league for twisted stories about our faith.
@yorgasor
@yorgasor 15 дней назад
Funny, that day of Joseph telling people about the first vision happened years after the church started, and then when he did start telling people, the story kept changing. It took decades for the church to finally settle on one version, because his closest friends, (apostles and prophets) kept saying in general conference that it was angels that came to him and not God. His mom and brother William seemed completely oblivious to the first vision when they wrote their versions of the origins of the church, and while the 1838 account mentions fierce persecution from the townspeople, and people of high standing in the community would go out of their way to persecute him, no one in town appears to have heard the story. There was no mention of it in the paper (and papers back then were like the local community gossip page on facebook), none of the people who wrote affidavits for Mormonism Unvailed heard of it, and none of Joseph's family was aware of any persecution related to it. It's almost like he invented the story after the fact and inserted it into the historical narrative, just like he did with the angelic restoration of the priesthood which David Whitmer never heard of until 1834-ish, even though the church was restored at his house.

@@wes2176 The Battle of crooked River and mormons forcing non-mormons from their homes. Look it up! Joseph Smith marrying children and other men's wives then ordering the burning of a printing press for telling the truth about him. Look it up! The problem isn't so much that mormons were persecuted. It's that they were just as violent as those they claimed were persecuting them they just lacked the means to dominate when they got violent.

JESUS has risen, and you can go to Him personally and directly. He is the Creator. TRUST with your heart in HIS loving atonement for ALL your sin and follow Him as the Risen Lord. Joseph is a false prophet with a false temple ceremonial gospel that leads to eternal hell. Matthew 24:24 Jesus said "For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect."

And then you can go to a Bible-believing church where everyone rolls around on the ground like psychopaths.

If only you understood what you're doing. They rejected and slandered the prophets and Jesus, and you're doing the same with modern prophets. Do some research on the Protestant/Evangelical roots and your eyes might be opened. And don't forget to pray!

"...if it were possible...". That's the difference. We all have a choice. Maybe you're one of the elect that may be being deceived.

I simply said the Bible teaches that ANYONE can go directly/personally to Jesus who ALONE has the power and authority to give ANYONE new birth unto eternal life. THAT threatened the Jewish temple system, so they killed Jesus. THAT threatens Mormons who hold onto kooky temple ceremonial salvation that leads to hell. John 12:19 So the Pharisees said to one another, “See, this is getting us nowhere. Look how the whole world has gone after him!”

@@wes2176 I agree with you. There will be many people attending christian churches that will be cast into hell because they trusted in their good works, church membership and ceremonies instead of trusting ALONE with their heart in the loving atonement of Jesus and upon His resurrection as their one and ONLY LORD GOD.
