We semi trucks have run air ride for years. I've driven over 350,000 miles and had one issue once. Once. And I routinely have my truck loaded with over 40,000 pounds. This tech is way more mature than people think.
Good enough for me. Automotive Reminder of the Day: Even with tech progressing every single year respect the sheer mass of a fully loaded trailer or flat bed. That and forklifts. I didn't realize a Smart Car sized forklift usually weighs around 8,000-9,000 lb.
@@crisbowman lol yup forklifts are chunky little dudes. Have driven them at many different jobs over the years. Whenever I'm getting loaded or unloaded, they bounce the truck up and down when they enter the trailer. It's very noticable.
@@Koolblue900 bro.. I think 1k is pricey haha. I have a big ass car(Infiniti q70) and as it is currently, when I park I often scratch under my bumper on stock height. Sometimes I have to ride the curb. Bags are my only option and I'll need preset height adjustment on the fly. Between wheels tires and air that's 7-10 grand. Solid nope for me right now
Jamaican Me Crazy 1) stop pulling forward so damn far. Fixed that issue. 2) if it cost you $10,000 to set up air suspension wheels and tires, everything better be gold plated and professionally installed by the ceo of AirRide.
Something to remember with air, literally every semi uses air bags and brakes and they run everywhere in every imaginable weather conditions literally millions of miles a year across the globe. It’s tried and tested, it’s just a little different from normal suspension setups
My biggest concerns about air is taking up space in the trunk, installing/setting it up wrong, and unknown limitation that I may not know about. (and cost)
right? bumps hurt now that i have air ride because i dont bottom out on them onto my bumpstops anymore because THEY'RE ACTUALLY PRETTY FUCKING STIFF!!! 1980 was a long time ago air suspension is pretty fucking good these days.
My 2018 Lexus IS300 F Sport is on Full Airlift 3P and I daily it everyday for work here in DTLA and use it for Road Trips as far as 400 Miles one way, snow (Big Bear), horrible roads, etc. .Never had an Issue/Leaks/Pops .Maintenance literally takes 30 secs and i do it twice a month when cleaning my car Feels super comfy and can easily clear these deep driveways here in DTLA, if you are debating between coils vs air i would 100% recommend air.
Go on 30k miles on bags, daily driver, multiple road trips, no issues minus a bad ground that kept blowing fuses. Ran lines through the car instead of under so no worry about debris hitting a line. I have no regrets love my Jetta on bags.
I asked about this question about 3 weeks ago and you guys made a video about it. Big thanks to you guys helping others out and destroying the myth. Now im going to get a set of airrides now and see how that goes! Thanks fitment industries 👍
Personally I have the air ride 3h system and I live in buffalo ny and have had no problems with my suspension in the cold. Just gotta wash the salt off and make sure you empty that water trap
Josh Gronowski when we had our storm last week I was driving pretty lifted and slow but even then it doesn’t really “lift” your car all but an inch to maybe two. I’m still a snow plow in the snow 😂
mburi kiama when I very first sat in it and did the first miles before adjusting the dampening it was an extremely stiff ride, however after they got broken in a little and I played with my dampening it is such an amazing ride. A little stiffer than stock on my wrx but nothing uncomfortable. Given it is on my daily so I have gotten used to how she rides.
I drive a audi a8l and s8 with air ride in -40C in winter with NO PROBLEMS. So do ALL the commercial trucks. The front bags lasted 539 000 km and 16 years before I replaced them! If you can run tires, you can run air ride.
Dakota u need to be on the cam 100% man u got the personality and u talk well, compared to ur bro that sounds like the auction house master speed talking ya into a new car typa dude!! but i am a fan of your group mariokart races haha -P3T3R
Just finished my 3P install a few weeks ago. Def can be performance based, I beat on my car a lot and so far so good. Hope to be in the 10s on air this year 👀
I would add under maintenance: check the lock collars on your struts every so often.... Just had one loosen up enough to let a front strut rotate to where the airline contacted the wheel.
Yep facts. My ex Vw Golf Mk4 v6 was running full Airlift Performance and 2p management. Never had issues. My current Audi A6 C7 3.0 Tfsi is running Performance Airride by Bilstein, with Airlift 3P management. No issues, you can easily push it hard. Everything runs fine. And it's cold here in Belgium too. I know at least about 500 cars on air. If it was that bad, it wouldn't sell like ice cream 😁😁
Can you make a video showing how to add air brake antifreeze to and drain condensation from the Quadra-Lift air suspension system? I don’t think it can be done with that system. If not, can you ever use to a kit that would enable us to do that? I can’t find anything about draining condensation from it or how to add air brake antifreeze to it. The air tank is located behind/under the back seat and I think one has to take out the spare tire to access it. It’s a closed loop system and is factory filled with nitrogen, which is supposed to be less problematic than regular air when temps change, meaning the air pressure doesn’t drop as much.
Only reason I don’t plan on going air is because I had friends who’ve had bad experiences racing with an air lift kit. I race my car heavily! I don’t want to take the risk
@@BudgetBuilds3 I know its late but im swapping my z with a 408 stroker ive been working on. I want air suspension but am worried the bags may. well. POP. due to torque and hp. its gonna be a street/racetrack car. making like 700whp and 500+ Tq...
@@AirsoftWolfie it will be fine as long as you make sure it’s not rubbing on anything. Airlift has videos of them tracking cars with bags. I haven’t tracked mine yet but want to.
my 1996 range rover came stock with air ride "they call it EAS (electronic air suspension)" and 4 different settings for it. i love the air ride and for a car that is 24 years old its stock air ride is going strong still! sure i have had to change the airbags out due to old age and cracking but that is about all ive done haven't had to change my compressor or tank or airlines. oh and i live in northern Canada where it realy gets cold
Dakota, I know I've talked a heap of shit on some of your other videos, so I want to be sure to let you know when you get it right, too. Bang-up job today man. You sound like you maybe had one drink, if you even drank at all. Really, you've come a long way in a short time, and I'm proud of you. Hell, maybe I'll even bag my e39, just for you. All jokes aside, great video, bro.
Truth.. And more truth.. there's million ways and more ways to get a point across.. but how many people actually get the point understand it and be able to use it to help themselves if not there's always a shop that'll do it and there's a reason why quality is expensive products are one thing and craftsmanship is another
I did a ghetto homemade bag over coilover set up on some truharts for my g35 and i have had no problems so far whatsoever. Im young and in college so i didnt have enough money to drop money on a real setup so i went ahead and saved a BUNCH making my own. I can reassure that as long as you take your time setting up your system and double check you are not rubbing on anything, it will work perfectly fine. I daily my car to school and nothing has happened. Just be smart and take your time and you can air out and flex on people 😎😎😎
I recently bought a grrand cherokee 2019 overland with air suspension. Is it harmful for the suspension to keep it parked on the off road setting or is it good to lower it while parked? I turned off the entry thing cause im tall and I dont really have problems getting in/out of the car
all I want to know is opinion on using air for an AWD wagon that I wanna lower stance w a set of dish wheels and get higher clearance w a set of off road. Is this reasonable and realistic? Thank you for the great content and info.
air is easy to install.. i had no experience with suspension besides putting drop springs in.. and i managed to install a complete air suspension setup.. read the instructions, if u can understand simple instructions, you can do it. i didnt have any help and it took a few days. the hardest part of the install, WASNT even the install, but removing my stock suspension lol.
My 2003 Audi Allroad Quattro has air suspension. I loved it when it worked but now it doesn't. I do not have any knowledge about it other then what I learned from your video. My car is all the way down with air light flashing. Any help figuring out what is wrong with it would be greatly appreciated. Garage I stopped at said it is very expensive to diagnose.
Is venting my tank of moisture from my drain line the same as emptying my water trap? Because I usually just vent it every few days and haven't bothered to look at my water trap in awhile.
Myth number 89, you can't get air lift/ air bags because it's old school like low rider days. Well boys, this video has all the right information, personality, great can-do attitude and most of all the type of moral support anyone needs when they're not going to have to visit the ER for busted knuckles.
so owning air suspension is like owning a rotary; over 90% of the problems are owner issues ... their ignorance and lack of owning up to their personal failures. Do shit right, take care of it properly, don't listen to idiots and you are golden.
Hey bro need some advice, I do around 3000km a month daily driving for my job to different locations. I really want air but can't afford another car rn what would be your opinion
Does anyone know why there are limited kits available for AWD vehicles? I have a challenger GT and cannot seem to find air suspension compatible with it simply because it is AWD. Not sure on the mechanics of it.
If you have problems with air suspension it's because it was installed incorrectly. I've put well over a million miles on vehicles with air suspension in the last 25yrs.
I do see a lot of airlift performace manifold issues on the forums. lets see some other air ride companies in the game airlift d2 tru hart k sport airrex airtekk flyyaire airforce airrunner acuuaire air zenith airdemand universal air vera airbft hk air raceland
The best top 4 air is : Kw Fahrwairk, Bilstein Performance Airride, AccuAir and Airlift Performance. Followed by 2 others : Airrex and Airforce. That's it. The rest is cheap shit.
One thing that absolutely must be said, don't skimp, buy a quality system. I had a "Air" set up on a Harley and it was cool...when it worked. I won it in a raffle and the shop that put it in skimped on a bunch of parts, and I was constantly chasing gemlins.
I know its late but im swapping my z with a 408 stroker ive been working on. I want air suspension but am worried the bags may. well. POP. due to torque and hp. its gonna be a street/racetrack car. making like 700whp and 500+ Tq...
@@AirsoftWolfie squatting from a big torque hit on a launch isn't gonna do anything. The front bags (and even the rears) are so thick even when deflated you can barely push the bag with your finger. Not to mention 18 wheelers using them. (Actually the rear bags in my kit are labeled as Firestones)
So I have some pretty beefy wheels/tires on, and I really dont want to go back to skinny wheels... is it possible to preset the lowest height to be just above where the fenders would rub/hit the wheel, or do I have to make a choice between air and tire width? I feel like I can just make sure to never air out all the way, but that sounds kind of risky...
At least on airlift 3p, you have something like 5 customizable height presets. Anywhere from full lift to get up driveways all the way to laying frame. The issue with wide wheels is you can end up rubbing on the rubber bag itself, causing a ton of premature wear.
Matt Bowlin aaah dang I see. I mean... theyre not insanely wide. Right now it looks like the fender is perfectly in line with the tire. And Im also thinking of getting stretched tires to give it a more flush look. My question was more if I can customize the “aired out” possition so its not “frame on the ground”. But now im wondering about this new issue you brought up hahaha i gotta look into that.
Didn't really prove anything at all in this video but tell us these are all myths and gave us his own experiences. Im not denying anything hes saying is true was just looking for some more evidence than his words.
Can you daily a car with airsus? Here in the philippines with roads that can smash any wheel, and can definitely smash some bags, i think you are better of with coils.
Is there anyone who's on air bags up here in Canada that ACTUALLY DRIVES IT AND NOT GARAGE BABY IT? Like how is it in -30 C weather? How is it in freezing rain + snow weather? When I can't open my doors, do I also have to worry about my ride not going back up? I park outside and sometimes my car also gets plowed in by the snow trucks. Although I probably wouldn't lower it much in the winter anyway. Just in case though. Really thinking of getting it
dude there's nothing stopping me from tracking my base model bone stock shitbox honda civic from 2002. just send it! edit: ok maybe there's the entry fee but i see no issue with the car!
I tapped into my access air tank valve from my air suspension that runs straight to the turbo. Nothing but power baby. Plus i got 8 stickers that have 5hp each. I make guys with Lamborghinis cry
aired up? Thats what you're supposed to do. Nobody drives their slammed car while aired down (unless you want to be a baller). Dont know what happens if you only drive it aired down. That might not be good.
