Although the Caribbean route is certainly more challenging, I admire your self-determined attitude. Crush your tests, rock your rotations and never stop being informed! I look forward to seeing your updates and wish you the best in your career.
Hi Hannah, I have graduated in Dec. 2018 with a bachelors of Nursing here in Canada (132 credit units) with an average of 73.795. I currently work as a Registered Nurse. Is there any possibility I can be considered for this medical school with this average and without an MCAT score? I have the hands-on examination experience with good english and critical thinking skills. I have always wanted to become a doctor but my marks have been too low. Any tips about what to expect regarding the school would be appreciated. Thanks.
hi there, the school does not require an MCAT, so you should definitely apply! they look at more than just scores, if you are planning on applying let me know :)
thank you so much for your support! there are houses or apartments to rent out in the island, which the school helps you find and you can look thru on the facebook group. I am lucky enough to have my parents back home help me pay for housing. other ways to afford it are loans, scholarships and things. it's a really good idea to have that taken care of before coming here, so you don't have to struggle and stress about money when you are on the island, rather focus solely on school. also, just an fyi, if you tell your counselor in Chicago, or who ever you are in contact with about the school that I recommended you to saint james, you could be able to get $500 off your tuition! which is about one months rent :)
Hannah Klein Thanks for the info. My class mate Megan Huerta attends saint james as well. Any tips that I should consider in between now and January to prep? School wise
very nice. which campus do you plan on attending? idk about any prepping, bc when you get down here its pretty hectic. if you really want, just look over or watch some videos about anatomy or histology, if you've never taken either of those courses, to just familiarize yourself and so you can be ahead, rather than trying to catch up the whole semester. but I would suggest resting up and not studying like a month or a few weeks before coming to school, bc you should be taking that time to relax so you can give your all when u get to school.
Hannah Klein Thanks for the advice. I took those classes like 3 years ago lol. So I will need to brush up. I will be on the Anguilla campus. Is there a format for us to send individuals that are writing our recommendations? Which campus are you on?
hi thanks for your support on my video and sorry for the late reply. you don't need to bring many books, just first aid(if that), you will get all the books on the island and there is also a school library
some other Caribbean schools are, but my school has one of the lowest tuitions with the accreditation. www.sjsm.org/tuition-fees/ if you are planning on applying, please let me know (you can get a discount) thanks for the love and support! :)
