Freelance Harpist Maxine Molin-Rose's beautiful rendition of this wonderful piece is a real joy for Debussy fans. Claude Debussy was a French composer. In the years between 1888 and 1891, he composed Deux arabesques, the first of which was Arabesque No.1 in E Major. It was one of his earliest pieces - published when Debussy was still in his twenties.

Also playing a little slower in the beginning may make the sound overall better imo

the accoustics of this hall, brings out the bass notes reverb. The effect is stunning. Wonderful performance.

It was arranged for Harp by Henriette Renie, but she also transposed the whole thing down a half step to E Flat Major cause she figured out that the Harp can comfortably play in Flat Keys just like Concert Band instruments.

An incredibly beautiful performance of what is possibly one of the most sublime compositions of all time. Debussy's music is among the most difficult to master but, when done well, is out of this world. Well done.

Not sure. Doesnt piano have way more strings? A harp does move a lot more than a piano though

You have to tune a harp every few days! It's a bit of a hassle but the sound is worth it :)

i tune my harp every time I practice! (which is pretty much everyday) it goes out of tune quickly because of temperature changes and humidity. sometimes strings break because of this too, but to get the best sound while practicing you should definitely tune before you start.

I want to play this on my harp but the sheet music says it's E flat yet it also says my pedals should be sharp. I'm confusled.

The Renie transcription, which is usually what harpists use, is in E-flat, as opposed to Debussy's original score which is in E. When you say it says your pedals should be sharp, I think you're talking about an F-sharp on the second page and similar occurrences. Some of those are accidentals (the original score has them as double-sharps) and others are enharmonics.
