This is my favorite kind of Debussy-deep, rich, sonorous and colorful. We pianists could sit on those gorgeous harmonies all day

3:21 moments like this where Debussy transports you to a completely new landscape/mood/feeling etc are what keeps me coming back to his music again and again. I love Debussy so much.

That moment is truly something that goes beyond words, mature piano works like this one from Debussy feel intimate like nothing else, it feels like Debussy it pulling you into a world you've always known of in a part of your subconscious, digging into your mind as you just fall asleep in a state of pure bliss

Then they talk about the “ advanced” jazz harmony… listen to this piece composed when jazz was in diapers. French Impressionist composers were beyond their times.
