As the global demand for air travel continues to grow and recover post lockdowns, so does the urgency to address the environmental impact of aviation on our planet as we strive for net zero.
While the first real-world evaluation of greener flying is happening in Orkney as part of the Sustainable Aviation Test Environment, there are no easy solutions to removing carbon from aviation.
There are significant technological and economic challenges that must be solved before the reliance on fossil fuels is ended. This means that there will be an interesting period of transition where competing solutions operate alongside each other.
But we must start somewhere!
This talk with Professor Andrew Rae will address questions of:
Will the aviation industry achieve carbon neutrality?
What are the latest efforts in research, industry, and policy towards net zero aviation?
Explore the various challenges of, and opportunities for, net-zero carbon aviation and the operational, safety and regulatory journey needed to help combat climate change.
