I agree. I have seen people train for years in different martial arts and when they get hit in the face the forget everything. Headgear like this is a good way to ease them into the hits.

Yes I agree it is boxing after all And if they are going to fight then they definitely do need to feel the shots to the face As a introduction for youngsters or for novices I think this headguard has a place depends on the individual I think

@@stevensolberg7609 💯 ease them into to the hits then put them in open face if they are going amateur if they are older then they will have no headguard so will have to take some shots I’m a massive believer in getting people defensively good as soon as possible then this limits the blows recieved

@@Fit2Box I suppose your right but I do think at a young age it’s better to feel the shots my son is ten and had he’s first spar last year before lockdown and I think at that age they can’t hurt each other to much anyway but you are right if it’s a 15 or 16 year old that as never boxed before then sometimes there a little tentative and worry about sparring so I think that this will help those kind of people

Agreed. It depends on the kid. I hope your child sticks with it. I am now starting to coach and it is fun watching people get better and more confident. Now if I could just get my daughter on board.

Cause many compagnies knows only one thing : copy ! Through our long experience in our Boxingshop in Paris, we used to sell different kind of facebar headguard and full protection with hard plastic. The problem is : cheat can happen ! And trust me it's happen from many well known brand and also groin guard... That's why it's pretty risky to launch a product like that and we never did. One thing I don't understand is how this product had CE approved. Of course the bar looks strong and Décathlon did many test and it will be pretty hard to break it. But when we do CE test, hard material must be hidden or forbiden cause if you make close sparring, the clear facebar can maybe hurt your openent... But anyway it's a good move from Decathlon and hope it will give ideas ( I don't say copy) to other boxing companies, even if Decathlon took a lot of "inspiration" for their other new boxing products but from our point of view it's a risky bet.

@H H yep. You have clear 2-3cm between your nose and bar. Even direct hit on the bar pushes your head back but never touches your nose. Bar doesn't bend .

I purchased it. It's much better fit. The TOP elastic is not as loose. There is a chin strap. Very very light.

Me personally for fight gloves I do prefer the more protective fight gloves like winning but I understand why pros like punchers gloves (minimal padding more damage ) after all their job is to win

@@yesusky24 Ayer mismo por fin lo probé... estuve con mis chavales, que alguno ya es más alto que yo, e hice guantes con dos y les metí algunos golpes a la cara, y también me llevé un par de manos de ellos y perfecto, una protección estupenda. Para evitar accidentes y sobre todo el llevarte el golpe en la nariz funciona muy bien. Los chavales se lo pasaron pipa y sin ningún daño...

@@gamberrosepicos4173 yo al final también los compré y los probé el jueves y me fue bien, menos es nada. Yo hacía sparring sin casco y es que el viernes pasado me llevé un golpe bueno en la nariz que dije...uf jaja

@@rb2997 please don’t rely on a headguard to protect your head get working on those defensive skills Better too avoid the punches than take them even with a face bar on

@@Fit2Box I do try my best to do that it's just that my sparring partner is a bit shorter and has a lot lesser reach than me so he is always on the retreat and I have to pressure him all the times and get tagged a few times in the process. Any tips on improving that ?

Depends how poor the person wearing it’s defence is🤣 For me a headguard isn’t part of my defence My hands , head movement and footwork are a much better defence than to test the headguard The bar hasn’t left marks or affected the gloves after hitting this headguard and I tested it A LOT To satisfy me that the bar was robust enough It has no edges it is clear and has smooth edges

@@Fit2Box I take your recommendations seriously since they've helped me multiple times. I guess I'm gonna have to trust your word again 😉 . It's just surprising to see a product from Decathlon scoring that high.

@@joaodealmeida26 I know I’m as surprised as you But that innovation on a £29.99 headguard is unbelievable given how many brands can’t come up with their own designs and just do a fg5000 copy and sell at a cheaper price

A pro fighter unless close to the fight or trying to protect a nose injury would prob not go for a nose bar With the exception of Canelo and pacquiao I would certainly spar a tremendous amount in a less protective headguard so you have the vision and develop the defence more than just rely on a face bar

You won’t be able to wear this in boxing matches Normally they are open face headguards for Amatuer boxing matches at your age

@@Fit2Box yes, but i would like to have mine because, the headguards that are supplied by the club are full of sweat, they smell , that s why i want mine but now i dont know what to do, should i be returning it and get a open face one ?

@@football-fan3090 speak to your coach He can advice you The competition headguard are likely to be in better shape than the ones everyone wears to spar in

And it is exactly protection against MMA gloves that I am looking for. In your opinion, why couldn't you use mma gloves. Is the gap too big? Or could it hurt the fingers of the opponent?

Trust me, see the other headgear with Face guards or a nose bar that isn’t clear. They look absolutely ridiculous This in comparison looks VERY sleek and is a hidden gem

Not for everyone Tbf adults sometimes can’t get on with normal facebar headguards
