I took a break from building things and took a couple trips around Decatur to check out the Millikin estate, Staley mansion, Staley building, transfer house, Lincoln square theatre, 9-11 memorial and more! This brief visit to some of Decatur's most iconic landmarks swings by several areas.

I'm a big Decatur Fan, lived there most of my Life and was very active in the Community... I was the Storm Spotter that activated the Warning Siren Network on April 19th, 1996, for the 2nd of two consecutive Tornado's... The first one went without a warning because it was later at night being to dark to confirm... I'm almost 70 years old now and this video brought back so many Memories... I worked at Staley's in the Administration Bldg... Knew a ton of secrets about it!!! I attended Millikin and the ole' SDHS back in the day too!!! Grew up playing around the old Chap's Park and used to sell Christmas Trees for him at his Furniture Store... Anyway. thanks for the nostalgia and the fine work bro!!! God Bless You & Decatur!!! It was a great place to grow up and raise a Family...

As a resident of Los Angeles, but born and raised Decatur native, I thank you for supplying a dose of nostalgia. The boy may leave the town, but the town never leaves the boy 🙏 Never forget your roots, as they are most important for growth! Thank you so much! Liked and subscribed :)

It's called The James Milliken Homestead. Because when it was built, this part of Decatur was considered "out in the country."

I am a new immigrant to Decatur from an overpriced shithole called Pomeroy, Washington State. I am paying $178K for an unbelievable modernly renovated 3200 sq ft house with 2-car attached garage here in Decatur. THANK YOU Decatur for realizing my American Dream! Go Illinois! Home of Lincoln, Sanctuary of the freed slaves, beating heart of American industry, granary of North America, and Arsenal of World’s Democracies!
