I was on the last crew that worked on the house before it caught fire. The owner was just a asshole and let her go

It didn't exactly decay. It caught on fire in 2002 (a tangle of extension cords upstairs where there weren't many electrical outlets), and the fire left it completely ruined. The Natchez Historical Society hastily put a new roof on it, so that it wouldn't decays while the owner decided what to do with it. He never did anything with it, because it was basically just a burned-out shell. What he probably should've done is bulldozed it and saved the bricks.

I personally don't care cause most likely the owners had slaves

@@Brownsuga-ip8vl Most likely the original owners did. Most likely the current owner didn't, unless he's 157 years old.

There’s an old plantation called Moody brick in Alabama. Someone bought it and re-built it and it’s absolutely gorgeous.

I live here in natchez ms this home was very beautiful the story on it is amazing.as of now the owner lives n jackson ms he is a doctor who refuses to fix it up and because its private property they cant force him to.they just keep fines going at him in hopes to get it fixed that way.lately the city has been keeping it cut.most of the items have been taken out and preserved.she was a grand site to see from the old pictures. I love the story of the owner next door at mammoth plantation thats tied to this plantation.love the video!

can you imagine what that house would look like if it was able to be fixed up? that would've been a beautiful house but I can also see alot of money having to be put into it.

It was EXTREMELY pretty until 2002, when it caught on fire and was destroyed. The owner felt himself stuck with a pile of charred, uninhabitable ruins.

These plantation homes are just so beautiful. I know they have a dark history, but that is in the past. We don’t keep going up to this generation of Germans and blaming them for killing millions of Jews and my family member Harry who was a spitfire pilot. God bless them all. I really think they needed to be kept as a memorial to all those who did lose their lives. Why does America seem to knock down/abandon properties with historical relevance and keep building rubbish on top of the site? Thank you for the explore, it would have been stunning once upon a time. Again, God bless everybody that was mis treated in those days. Stunning place. 💖😊💖

True because Germans can always find their lineage and everyone else and it’s ok that there are sooooo many black peoples that still can’t find theirs even their bill of sale or past x2 great grandparents or those that may have not lived after 1870 to have a name in the census instead of a gender and age. Yeah we all need to move past this it’s not relevant that those walls had so many happy memories
