You're right, these shaders aren't too good to me mostly because it looks like it has been raining for 2 years. They should make reflections only on some materials to be honest

The problem with shaders in Decaying Winter is that most of the map is completely pitch black, there is just a minimum light level in the game. Everywhere outside without a lamp post would be impossible to see without that minimum light level, it's a weird design choice. This is also why it's very dark in the Outpost if you have the shaders active, all of the light in the room normally comes from the barrels but the point (Oh yeah, the fire particles don't actually cast light, there is a small invisible brick that acts as the light source.) is actually inside the barrel, so the light is only cast on the ceiling. This also creates a weird visual effect with Executioner because while you have the goggles active there is normally a light source only visible to you which is located inside your eyes. With shaders on, this does some pretty weird stuff. It's normally not supposed to be noticeable but with shaders it's almost like you are holding a flashlight. There are also some small and very weird interactions with entities that APPARENTLY emit a small amount of light in the normal game, such as Sovereign's ghosts actually emitting some sweet dynamic lighting. Holo emitters are a different story. While they are supposed to emit a bright blue light, some cosmetics stop it from working. My theory (that I have not tested yet) is that the light source is normally the head, but because I use the Servo head it isn't present. I do really wish that the Decaying Winter team would add their own shaders as a setting (shader plugins are quite easy to find, they would not have to make one) and maybe spruce up the map a little more to include a few more light sources. Seeing things like Sickler's midnight black skin, chains, and grotesque open wounds reflecting the light of the lamp inside Mountain add A LOT to the experience for me.
I dont think zym is adding any asthetic to the game any time soon cuz he's also working on personal projects, but yeah you're right in some places it very dull, works better in other games.
@@KrozZzYtb if you notice in outpost the barrel just shoots all the light on the ceiling so it straight up makes beams of light, same for castle's torches
Lights surely do look interesting, everything else's just the same as I remembered it, I thought the game would get some sort of a graphics update in those what, 6 months since I played it? The same.
