1983 commercial break for WNEW Channel 5 New York's broadcast of "Mata Hari." There are several instances of what sounds like announcers interrupting each other at the end of commercials. Go to 4:28, it literally sounds like one announcer sighs at the very end, hehe. Plus some title card glitches. I was just a baby in 1983 and I'm so grateful to experience NYC through the magic of classic commercials. :)
1. Quick snippet of some kind of cartoon, followed by some kind of building
2. Honda snippet ("Luxury you can afford")
3. "Friday the 13th Part 2" promo on WNEW
4. 10 O'Clock News promo ("Your lotto station")
5. Channel 5's Movie Greats intro (Love the synth!)

7. Mata Hari/Movie Greats bumper
8. Rockbottom (Featuring Santa Smurf)
9. Audi 4000 S ("Have you ever watched a German test drive a car?")

11. Citizen watches (Again with the dueling announcers; also 4:28 this is the sighing part)
12. "Fame" promo (I won't lie, I dig the song, lol)
13. Le Tigre (Btw my parents used to take me to Bamberger's for Easter breakfast :D)
14. Amtrak (Reminds me of the "Newhart" theme)

32. Great American Shoe Store with the Marshall Tucker Band
33. "Taxi" promo
34. Movie Greats/Mata Hari bumper
35. Mata Hari/Movie Greats bumper

37. New York Telephone ("You called me!")

Seems as though a number of commercials mention both Macy's and Bamberger's back in 1983...but that would change in 1986!

Yeah my parents say our Macy's used to be a Bamberger's and they took me there for Easter breakfast.

17:07 - Newmark & Lewis Christmas ad with "crazy Santa" - played by Ed Vincent, a former upstairs neighbor of mine; he died nearly two years ago. (He was in Actors' Equity; got paid a flat fee and never got any residuals, given how it was run by all the major commercial TV stations in the New York metro for at least two Christmases, this being the first. His hair and beard really were that long at the time, they weren't added on.) It was from another YT clip with that same ad that I was able to produce a DVD copy for him; he laughed uproariously when he saw it for the first time in more than three decades.

Wow thanks for the info! He does a fun job. Shame about the residuals, but that’s typical. Glad you were able to share it with him earlier. 😀

Oh yes WNEW ("Where Nothing Ever Works") in their prime! Toro - Tom Gregory AKA The Metromedia Man cutting the ad off before it was finished! Citizen - I'm going to say the sigh came from the legendary Lou Steele but why 2 V/Os one right after the other is beyond me, usually they only had one doing a shift at one time! Fame - Ed Ladd Le Tigre - Tom Gregory Jockey - Ed Ladd w/ the late A&S title card Lee - Tom Gregory Taxi - Lou Steele Longines - Tom Gregory Aris - Lou Steele Batman - Lou Steele Canoe - Lou Steele Hamilton Beach - Tom Gregory Fame 2 - Ed Ladd New York Minute By Macy's Bank - Tom Gregory Toro 2 - Tom Gregory Hansel & Gretel - Ed Ladd I'm done! Huge piece of WNEW here!

Glad I wasn't crazy regarding the V/Os, hehe. Very impressive list, thanks!

Many of those V/O's were recorded. Especially if Tom Gregory was on the shift when "Movie Greats" was on. Any of them have Chuck Caron or Peter Lucas on V/O?

Aris sounds more like Lou Steele at the end.

Lou Steele also did "One Day At A Time." And possibly Canoe as well.

@@wmbrown6 That's funny you should mention that as I returned to this video last week and I figured I made a few errors on my identifications last year. Canoe was one of the standouts and I was about ready to edit that to Lou Steele. I would say that you're right.
