i believe apatite has an entire SUPERgroup named after it, and one of the other groups in that supergroup is made of phosphorus-bearing Y and rare-earth-element silicate hydroxides/fluorides/chlorides called the britholite group. it's definitely the most interesting part of the apatite supergroup for me bc there aren't many minerals made with lanthanides

My wife and I have some large chunks of apatite and other crystals from Mount Apatite City Park in Auburn. Maine. The stuff is pretty, but fragile and hard to work with. Colors from brown to pale blue. Lots of feldspar , quartz and a bit of garnets, and lots of mica. Some feldspar was thinly layered with garnet.

So I purchased some lovely apatite crystals a while back and noticed something fascinating, they floresce neon orange under uv lights! Hence why I always check new specimens for fluorescence!

Most/all of what we saw in this video was fluorapatite, which is formed in your teeth when you use toothpaste/drink tap water containing fluoride!

I got some little yellow apatite pieces recently. They are absolutely stunning. I plan on putting one of the pieces in a cage necklace.
