Great content! My first firearm was a Gen 4 Glock 19 MOS. I had almost no expendable income, and I wanted a "do everything" handgun. As time went on, I made that gun my own. DIY stiple and undercut, TLR1-HL, night sights then Holosun 508T, RangerProof flat face trigger shoe, tungsten guide rod and finally a Faxon barrel with compensator. Still my everyday carry and bedside gun. Now I'm working my skills up to a "Minuteman" standard, and then it will unironically hang on my battle belt too. Sorry for the self involved post, but this is exciting stuff for me and I hope this inspires somebody out here to stop dreaming and get into this! Thanks Uncle Freedom for the outstanding content!

Another reason for blacked out pistol sights being use with NODs. Night sights will glow like orbs and drown out your red dot.

Protip for Glock owners, when you buy a new Glock you get a coupon code for their online store. It is not just hats and shirts, they have a nice Fix-It Stick kit that has literally everything you need to service your pistol and then some.

Great advice as always. While I have done some minimal changes to my G5 Glock 19 (fiber optic sights, Hogue grip, and a Recover Tactical Slide Assist for my old hands) I have done a fair amount of shall we say "tweaking" both of my AR-15's. Nothing major other than replacing the 8" hand guard on my ATI with a 13" one, but I do keep a looking and once in a while get tempted into trying something new..
@unclefreedom213
@unclefreedom213 2 месяца назад
There are things I immediately change but that's because of 100s of thousands of reps and rounds. I always run a 2 stage trigger SSA-E or MBT-2S, B5 type 23 grip, Reddot, BCM angled short foregrip or Railscales, Ambi charging handle( geissele super or Radian Raptor) and stock (bcm sopmod, B5) since I know those things matter. Everything else that gets changed is as it wears out like changing buffers and springs. On handguns usually sights, magwell and lights.

Dumb thing that a LOT of people do is trying to buy skill by equipment upgrades and or taking a $600 gun and end up spending enough money that it would of cost the same as a 2011. Tritium front sights is amazing for coming out of sleep looking for the gun. I don't like red dots on full size pistols but small pistols they are a huge advantage but my OCD requires me to use a alcohol Q tip to clean the glass every week.
@unclefreedom213
@unclefreedom213 2 месяца назад
Yep I always push people just like in working out push till you hit your natural capacity then make augments to to the regimen whether that a supplement or changing routine. In guns I was the same small guns and rds but using rds on full size guns I'm better, faster and more accurate. I always caution shooters on upgrades. In my agency if my guys or other guys from around the state come to me about something they want to change. I first make them run drills dry and hot to see thier performance. I then let them run the upgrade on one of mine and if they are base level good enough to see the benefit of an upgrade I'm good with it. Most people because we are human are looking for the shortcut to skill superiority and a lot of the time the answer is more dry fire, smaller targets, or more range time

Gen5 G45. Talon grip, factory performance trigger, night sights (mostly to get rid of plastic sights), red dot, light. +2 (for carry)/+5 (cause you can) mag extensions. Same on the g47. All run like a dream, shoot flat, reliable, and are more than accurate. Run steel matches with 45/47 no issues. Can carry both. Will look into a g48 for smaller carry, but may just go to a 19 so it fits my hands and grip better. And cause all the parts become interchangeable.

depends on who you are and what your abilities are. Not everyone is a super duper trooper operator with a rifle. Not everyone is a Jerry Miculek or a Tom Knapp on the shotgun. Not everyone is a quickdraw Mcgraw behind the pistol. If you got a 30 cal rifle that is known for long-distance. Better get a bipod, a sling, a bullet stock saddle, and a really good piece of glass. If its a bolt-gun, bipod, a good lightweight chassis, nice optic ring mounts and a good piece of glass. Side saddle and sling. If its an AR10 or a type of battle rifle that is semi-auto. You might need a dual optic-sight setup such as an ACOG with an RMR combo mounted system or finding a good scope ring mount that has an RMR boss plate for your red dot. And then a bipod, a handstop, a good stock and a sling. If its a revolver. Get night sights or upgrade both and get a rmr mounted on it. Same with pistols. But now add a pistol light or a combo light system with a laser. Get larger mags. Keep a higher count mag on the pistol and the rest regular/stock size or +2 mag extensions. You got an AR and dont do long distance shooting? Go look at GWOT guys in the Marines and see how they setup their rifles. You'll find a PEQ15 or some type of IR/vis sight system. A red dot, iron sights, a flashlight and a vert grip. Also uses a SOPMOD or A2 stock or an H&K 416 stock. Id go with an ACOG 4x32 tritium with rmr mounted on it, troy industries night sights, a PEQ15, streamlight flashlight with a pressure pad and a tangodown "broomhandle" vert grip. You got a shotgun? Get a red dot. It's easier, get a flashlight that is superbright, shotcards mounted on the receiver, limbsaver stock pad, a good sling and grab a 240 nutsack pouch for your shells.

2 points of contention unless you're a shield guy just lasers on a pistol are useless they suffer from terrible parallax and tend to make people not aim and trust them which is a nogo. I see it happen all the time in lowlight shoots guys hit no shoots because the only trust the laser. Cloning the rifles we carried in the military is great if you're nostalgic or just think it's cool. We didn't get a say at ground level on setting up anything and people that had never fired a shot in anger let alone in a 10x10 room with someone else shoting back. High tier guys can be okay but even still most of it was done by what was available and what worked for thwm. The stuff available to the general civilian now smokes everything we had access to the first 10 years of GWOT
@vicerichter1163
@vicerichter1163 Месяц назад
@@unclefreedom213 im Just talking about what was used as the principle is still the same. I think now its like a DBAL or NGAL but it is still using an IR/laser system as is. And depending on the role. Ive seen guys who do CQB use a red dot with a magnifier or just a red dot or those who are on patrol use an ACOG. I use an ACOG because it wont break no matter how hard you hit it. And they last forever. Iam not trying to make clone-correct rifles I just follow what guys who did go out there downranged used because I can see they somehow made it out alive to this day. with all the gadgets they be using. Also laser sights are pretty good. I mean guys be using PEQs and DBALs on their rifles which does use a laser as well. I dont see why its any different.

Does Overwatch Precision “modify” Glock parts? I was under the impression everything but the trigger shoe is stock Glock with an option for the NP3 coating.
@unclefreedom213
@unclefreedom213 2 месяца назад
Overwatch leaves things as close to factory as possible. The trigger shoes changes and limits pre and over travel and them cleaning up the surfaces on the connector and trigger bar smooth out the feel. You're not really looking at lighter it's more consistent and a better mechanical advantage which makes it *feel* lighter

@@unclefreedom213 thanks for the quick reply and level of knowledge we’ve gotten used to from you! I own two that have been very reliable and it’s always nice to know they’re made in America by active and ex military. If you haven’t tried one of their NP3 coated safety plungers I’d highly recommend them, easily noticeable how much smoother it makes the trigger pull even with otherwise stock/uncoated parts. Keep up the good content and enjoy your next well deserved day off.

I'm more accurate or was with a 1911 but using a dryfiremag in my glocks I have closed that gap by a ton. I love a good 1911 but will almost always carry a glock it's just more of an advantage

The urge to tinker and upgrade every conceivable aspect of a perfectly functional firearm is a hard one to resist. I am guilty of this. My "duty" gun is a g17. Zev duty slide (liked the rmr cut on it), blacked out irons, rmr, glock performance trigger and a slightly extended mag release. As soon as I put in an extended slide release after all those prior upgrades had a flawless 3000+ rounds of performance, immediately I ran into problems. I think it was just a bad spring in the part, but every shot the slide would lock back (even when testing to make sure it wasn't getting bumped by my hand). I put the original part back in and was back to flawles functionality. Upgrades are cool but if you do them, make sure you immediately test em. If I had dropped that part in and just left my gun on my nightstand... That could've been very bad if I had actually needed it. Worst of all it was (apparently) an oem extended slide stop slide/slide release.
@unclefreedom213

Precisely I see this all the time guys swap 5 things at once carry the gun and when they hit the range the gun chokes and because they swapped out a bunch of stuff they almost have to start over

and also little benefit unless you're mounting a can or Como. In handguns if we go from a 3.5 to a 4.5 there's a performance gain. My issue is you will typically give over some accuracy because of tolerance stacking for a gain or maybe 50 fps which can be the difference from one round to the next. If you're doing it for that reason it's nonsensical but if you're planning to comp it gane on
