those electric guitar riffs go CRAZY just in case anyone asks, these videos are for fun/personal use and i don't intend to make a profit in the future cooler kieran credit: / 1736831196892737962
Definitely my favourite theme on the whole game. Not just this version, but all 3. His first theme full of hope and sweet feeling, his teal mask finale theme full of desperation and anger, and now his champion battle theme full of malice and pure agressive spite. All unique, but all still carrying that same original melody. A-ma-zing!
He goes back to his Kitakami finale theme in the post game reflecting that yeah he’s friendly but he still has the drive to win. Just not as single minded as before
I got a bit spooked by the Grimmsnarl just because I used a Prankster / Screens one in The Teal Mask when I was doing story fights. So to me it almost felt like he copied me lol
Kieran took out practically all my team, but my Hisuian Arcanine, my last mon standing, beat him in the end. Perrin, I raised it to be strong, like i promised.
Funfact: If you bring out Ogerpon his AI will actually target her more. I know we all know about the unique dialogue he has. But I just thought the AI thing was neat.
It not only fits that its a competitively minded choice, but also an aesthetic one - Incineroar is a heel, and it fits Kieran's character since he took a heel turn during the DLC and is now an antagonistic character. It was a fantastic choice for his team
Honestly the only change I’d make to any Kieran fight is that when we gets Terapogos, the fight would be a 7v6, with you fighting his whole team again (slightly levelled up) and THEN the Terapogos battle, with no chance to heal. They’ve already given us an 8v6 in Legends, so it wouldn’t even be that out of the realm for Game Freak to have done that. Still a great DLC though
@@kemosonicfan123lbp no since it'd have to be 2 separate battles with the second initiating immediately after the first, the first battle being doubles and the second being singles
I feel like having to fight the exact team you did half an hour ago would be a bit annoying. Maybe if it was a single battle for the second fight it would be slightly more unique, but it also might be too difficult considering how Terapagos is a challenging fight on its own. It could work in some kind of hard mode mod or something, though.
Kieran was the first antagonist and rival to bring my party down to one pokemon in over two decades. Cheers to you Kieran for being an actual rival and a good fight. You are worthy of your banger theme!
Definitely one of my favorite Champions. i’m not even gonna count Geeta as a champion. I had to plan to take down Kieran, had to heal a lot compared to Geeta. And not even that Kieran used Incineroar who is my favorite Pokemon of all time. He is the true champion of the game
Not going to lie, I honestly had fun fighting Kieran’s team in ID, it was near insanely challenging, especially since I had brought my belly drum azumarill that I had been using in raids thinking “I’ll be able to sweep. No biggie.” I was forced to adapt with how his team was built and I’m happy about it. But boy was he tough, I only won because of a lucky friendship toughing out to allow me to land the final blow.
Honestly me but used the event grimmsnarl and a semi competitive kommo-o with clinging scales I just used thunder wave and charged up probably two or three of clinging scales and constantly healing them both
@ImaliveIguessno3 oh yeah i brought ogerpon too plus like a shiny abomasnow i found in the polar biome an overqwil to set up toxic spikes as well as two other pokemon to deal with his first two pokemon that dont get the toxic damage
Now THIS is a Champion battle, not that pushover of fight that Geeta was. Kieran not only has an iconic and challenging team but a banger music to accompany with It. Neither of those things Geeta could ever accomplished
Geeta wasn’t really meant to be difficult it was meant to represent the areas of the game with each of her Pokémon also the real final fight was the Professor
Even with my team all at level 100 I still struggled a little bit. Still won on the first try, but it was pretty rough. Really fun fight, 10/10 would lie to Kieran and break his spirits again.
I tried it blind with lvl high 70 to low 80 mons it was extremly close I dont rly like to overlevel and use legendaries or pseudos they just make it a bit too easy
That fight was actually quite challenging Took me 3 tries thanks a lot to my Lokix for confusing that incineroar and to my hyrdapple for doing a focused crit with their signature and obliterating his hyrdapple in 2 hits
It came down to a 1v1 between my tera flying decideye and his tera fighting Hydrapple. I was using my B team because my A team was rediculouslh overleveled because I went crazy with pokedex stuff. This B team had taken out the Elite Four without too much problem, but he carved through me. I thought I was going to loose, but for some reason he had choozen to knock out my other pokemon instead of eliminating my tera pokemon when he easily had the chance earlier. Man, it felt so good to use STAB Acrobatics without Held item.
I like to play the dlcs with a dlc only team(Mons that are exclusive to dlc areas). Going into this blind man was so hard. Especially with his team being so god damn oppressive from the jump
my team consisted of sylveon, excadrill, porygon-z, cinccino, galvantula and archaludon. the final showdown was his tera fighting hydrapple at max hp and my tera ground excadrill. if drill run wouldnt have killed it there, that would have been my end, but it pulled through thankfully
I know alot of people are saying they had issues with this fight but I'll be honest, My Archaludon and Ogerpon just kinda stomped him. Starting with a drizzle just let Archaludon stomp all over his team with some support from my other mons.
is it jut me or do i hear distorted laughing from 0:03 to 0:05 ? I heard it at the end of his second teal mask theme too, but here it's louder and stays for longer... really helps show hes gone off the deep end / is completely obssessed about beating the player now
This fight made me go to my brother to elaborate a proper strategy... I don't know anything about competitive, and even with a team all at 100 I was sweating lol. I really wanted to bring my regular team (Meowscarada/Clodsire/Tinkaton/Ceruledge/Milotic/Iron Valiant) and not bring Ogrepon... He did faint a few of my 'mons, notably my Iron Valiant just because I greeded too hard 😅 Milotic surprisingly ended up saving both Kieran's champion battle and Drayton's battle (with A. Ninetales), given how my brother talked about it it's not a particularly competitive 'mon but I just love it Having this theme while battling Kieran was just amazing, when the guitar came on I was so hype!
Idk what everyone's yelling about Kieran got sweeper by my lvl 100 great tusk and koraidon they weren't even ev trained had no items and both took minimal damage
My team did have a hard time against Kieran's just cause I didn't expect his first 2 mons to be so bulky. But then he made the mistake of activating my Ogerpon's Defiant twice giving her the power to sweep half his team.
Spoilers fact while game play wise Kieran is stronger story wise Nemona is still top champ post game Kieran remarks how he fought nemona and she crushed him easily at the time though he didn't even know who she was until the main character told him she was a champion with him saying it makes sense he lost
@@xanvoir7693 didn't Nemona use the team she leveled up alongside us to battle with? She has many multiple different teams, so she could've used one of those
@lightyoshiman It's very possible his heart wasn't back in it considering he's still kinda mentally recovering from the whole ordeal and he just kinda battled Nemona to get it over with. He didn't seem as fired up to battle her like he was with us during the Indigo disk. Nemona however was super battle excited and obviously if the MC said Kieran was really strong she wouldn't hold back and goes whole hog.
Dragonite and Politoad, for rain core... Incineroar and Porygon-Z, solid offense and support pressure... Grimmsnarl and Hydrapple, screens and Tera Fighting Fickle Beam? This is how a champion should battle.
From my experience Incineroar was a pest to deal with. That said I know Jack about competitive builds so it's only fitting that I'd struggle against him. Didn't help that I was ill prepared too but old school cheese got me a w.
This battle was amazing. I had a good laugh at the fact that he'd use an Incineroar, I wonder if that was a reference to all the use it got in Sw/Sh? Love the theme, beat his Hydrapple with the first ever pokemon I'd ever had, a Greninja from X/Y named Froyo, which was my first pokemon game. Scrambled him through Home and everything to get him to Scarlet. Pretty epic moment.
I'm willing to be that it was another soft middle finger at Wolfey after the trolling bit they did to him on Twitter some time before the Indigo disk release.
@@Max1996YT WolfeyVGC, one of the former world champions, he has a RU-vid channel dedicated to competitive Pokemon and had tweeted some time ago that it was his birthday and so that his wish was for Incineroar not to be included in the Indigo Disk DLC, to which the official pokemon account there replied with a simple image of a smug Incineroar.
When i first fought Kieran as the champion i was using my story team, we'd gone through kitakame/paldea together now i wanted to finish off with blueberry academy for our final journey, and i will be honest, despite the fact i was lvl 100, optimized for vgc battles, my team was sorely underrated (Skeledirge/Hatterene/Gogoat/Cyclizar/Mismagius/Mudsdale) solid pokemon for a story run, ev trained, bottle capped, minted with ability patches for those that wanted their HA, but still... he brought me down to my last 2, forced me to tera my skeledirge. It honestly felt like i was fighting a toxic competitive version of myself, whereas i was playing with the pokemon i used because they were fun and i liked them. Meanwhile he was running the team of competitive pokemon that were optimal, popular, powerful, had ideal movesets... i was trying to have some fun but he only cared about winning...
@@jorgechi4627 i think he was comparing the fact that he was using mons he liked despite min-maxing them while Ki-Ki was using the big boys, i mean his worst pokemon is a Pory-Z which isnt the worst for a story boss and this man had a rain setup for his first two mons, a new mon, an actual different tera type, a prankster grimmsnarl, and a freakin' *Incineroar* only thing that could have made this better imo is if his Hydrapple had Leftovers instead of Assault Vest cause it's already a decently tanky mon
@@JustANewHunter The Assault Vest could be some form of symbolism though, maybe. At that point he's given up about actually playing it smart, he's gotten so desperate that he only cares about beating you. The Tera Fighting Hydrapple symbolizes this as well.
@@JustANewHunter assault vest is actually generally better than leftovers in doubles, the 1/16 per turn recovery isn't that amazing when you can just be doubled up on and some of the best pokemon in the current meta are special attackers including one that's main type is super effective against hydrapple, it seems they understood the meta
I used my main Paldea team inn the DLC because double battles are hard. In Kieran's fight, because I knew it would be harder, I maxed out the IVs and EVs of my full team, and it was way more than enough, it was easy even. Don't recommend
@@TheScholarOfLemons I heard the DLC was more mindful of competitive, so I also IV and EV trained my new team. And not gonna lie, Kieran and the E4 DID get some KOs, but it wasn't enough. Crispin was actually the one who wore me down the most.
I knew the second I saw an Incineroar that I had to take this battle seriously. Even with mostly lv 100s I almost still lost. Kieran is NO JOKE. Also this theme is 🔥🔥🔥
I think it's kind of poetic that against the BBE4 I was having fun with the new pokemon and the double battles and I lost to Drayton and Lacey, but when I locked in and gave Kieran the serious challenge he wanted, I steamrolled him, only losing my alcremie because she took too many hits
Hey, put some respect on Alder's name. He's one of the hardest Champions. Are you forgetting that you can only fight him post game, when all the Elite Four members are updated and stronger? Base Alder is as strong as an updated post game Cynthia.
Nemona is also a good Champion, if people remember she's a Champion, which they often don't because she's overshadowed by Geeta discourse. Steven's also good, if not better as a character than he is as a trainer.
Actually a pretty enjoyable fight, even with a team of optimized 252-EV lv 100s (Ogerpon-hearthflame, Scizor, Toxtricity, Annihilape, Weavile, and Skeledirge, some Pokémon I love that were available in the game). Granted, it was mainly Hydrapple that gave me the most challenge. That thing’s no joke. Fickle Beam just EVAPORATED Ogerpon, and Tera Blast did a ton of damage. didn’t need to send out most of my team, but I still had fun.
I didn't use any healing items but I also didn't struggle in this fight (granted I was lvl100). I only lost my H. Decidueye to the hurricane dragonite, that caught me off guard. I definitely could've lost more but I did appropiate switches and even switched a mon into my Iron Valiant when the Hydrapple was going all out
I can’t lie with all the hype this DLC was getting for being hard, seeing the leak that he had the highest level team of any trainer ever and knowing he’d been built up so hard, I was seriously not expecting to just 6-0 him 😭😭
I managed to get a win first try but Kieran made me sweat for it! I was ill prepared and had to use old school cheese to get by. A refreshing change for sure but I doubt we're gonna see more good fights like this in future titles.
@@some_random_guy5763 Same. And fighting but I was gonna use my Ceruledge come hell or high water. And I had Ogerpon for the dialogue, she was woefully under leveled. Thankfully I managed to get by with Ceruledge thanks to the AI being stupid at times. Interestingly Hydrapple and Grimsnarl I didn't find as annoying. Yeah lightscreen was irritating to deal with but I'd rather that than being attacked at the time. Also didn't help that double battles are harder by proxy.
@@hikaru9624 my team levels were in the mid 80s and I was using pokemon only cought in the terrarium except my hydraple and ogerpon and the AI was actually being smart
@@some_random_guy5763 barring a Ceruledge and Meowscarada who were level 100 (first time for me to achieve that since the red version back in the 90's) majority of my team was lv90+. I probably should have changed to a new team made out of terrarium mons but I was attached to this one even with their non hypertrained stats (didn't understand it as well then as I do now). It is legitimately nice to have actually challenging AI. That said its kinda sad how said AI doesn't use full restore, looking at you Blue. It would make sense for Kieran to at least use full restores to be a pest.
