We extended our deck to accommodate more space and it only took four hours! You can do it! We also used Pallets for the walkway base and decked right over them!
Was considering building one at home and then saw your vid. Did you use any kind of vapor barrier underlying the bottom of the pallets so the moisture from the ground won't rot the wood over time? Was wondering what solution you had for it to preserve the life time of the walk way? I figure a film barrier would be more cheaper than concrete footings and posts. Thank you
Thanks! Yes, they have been just sitting there in that walkway for about a year as is and I was pleased to see that they have not worn out at all...saved a bunch of money using them as the base for the walkway!
@@maker-logic Brilliant, what wood did you use to top it off please, I have a load of laminate flooring, could I use as a top off if I screwed down well and used a good exterior paint or varnish..
@@donnaylor6259 I just water sealed the treated decking. You probably don't want to use a laminate as the weather will cause it to separate from the backing. If the deck is covered and the porch is enclosed you could, but the laminate will delaminate in any moisture outside.
