For anyone new and interested in counting, the Oxford Casino Hotel in Maine has 92% deck penetration 6 deck games. It's 6 deck H17 no surrender but you can DAS and split up to 4 times. Best games I've ever played were there or at Tiverton Casino $25 min 6D tables 66% to 75% pen.

The 92% penetration is hard for me to believe but it may make me optimistic about card counting again if it is real. By the way, does it allow hitting after splitting aces or resplitting aces?

@@GaryLuKOTH They shaved off less than half of a deck at their tables when I went. They used Automatic Shuffle Machines but not CSMs, so getting a good count was still possible. There was one game where they cut off less than 16 cards. Typically it looked like they chopped off a half a deck and that was it. I don't remember the rules around aces. I don't believe resplitting aces was allowed. Or hitting. Best weekend I ever had playing Blackjack. Went in with $300, got up to $3k the following day that weekend, lost it all because I don't know how to bet in proportion to bankroll. I quit since then. I'm not a good card counter. I made a lot of mistakes that cost me my life savings. I tried my best but I don't think I'm cut out for the lifestyle. It's too much stress. Trust me, their games had amazing penetration dude. My mouth was watering the minute I noticed the penetration at every table was generally thesame. .

When you say 3 at least rounds for a single deck game is that for any ammount of players at the table or does that only go for a full table.

Has there been in calculations done for player banked games? I have been successful in at casinos that offer player banking games. I would like to know if this type of play is actually advantageous?

Hey guys, I have two questions: 1. How do you know how many decks are used at the table? Is it written somewhere or can you ask the dealer (but asking the dealer is awkward because they will suspect you are card counting) 2. For converting the running count to true count, do you have to take into consideration the number of decks that will not be used? For example, say my running count is 6, it is a 6 deck game, and I notice that 1 deck will not be used. Will be true count be: 6/6 decks = 1 or 6/(6-1 deck) = 6/5? Thanks :)

More Merrick 1. You know how many decks are remaining because you can look at the discard tray and see how many decks have already been dealt. You subtract the dealt cards from the total shoe and that's how many decks remaining that you use for true count conversions. 2. You use ALL the remaining decks for the calculation, not just the ones you will see. Think about it. The concentration of high cards you have is distributed across ALL the remaining cards not just the ones in front of the cut.

QUESTION???? in Wendover its all single deck. If the count is high after the first hand is dealt is it mathematically smart to raise your bet on the 2nd deal even if the count is only 2 or 3 You cant wait for the 3rd deal bc the dealer always shuffles if the count is high. If they deal a 3rd round its bc the count is D! Sometimes they lose the count and will deal a 3rd or 4th round with a high count, but it's rare. swear all the dealers count unless you distract em

I completely understand basic strategy and I am proficient in counting cards using the high-low method...ie 2,3,4,5,6 = 1...tens, jacks, queens, kings, aces = -1....I understand my running count and my true count as well, but what I don't understand is when should I increase my bet? Does my TC need to be above 2? 4? 6?

ryan - it depends on the rules of the game. For most games, the advantage shifts to the player at a true 1. So you would raise your bet above a true 1. A rule of thumb is to raise your bet at a true 1 at an S17 game and to wait for a true 1.5 or 2 on an H17 game.

Every time i go on lose 2000 i used to play double decks i get on good run but now its 6-8 deck shoot . They raise limit to 100-300 a hand for double decks . Any advice please ?

They still have a single deck tables at Pechanga (Temecula, CA). I hear what you're saying about penetrating the deck/ decks but if there is no deck penetration/ decks penetrated what is the more favorable amount of decks to be played? Or does it even matter, considering the entirety of the deck(s) are still there.

Danielle Peig On a single deck we usually measure penetration by the number of rounds. You need at least 4 or 5 rounds dealt before the shuffle in order for the game to be beatable.

Hey would you guys recommend using a casino rewards card for a lower-end card counter such as a $15,00 bankroll making minimum bets of $15 and using a 1-10 betting spread???

It really depends on how much you value the comps. It will cost you your identity if you want to play rated. Lower stakes players tend to have less trouble than higher stakes players but it's just a rule of thumb.

So with a deck penetration, if you’re playing 6 deck and they “penetrate” to where there’s only 4 decks that will be being dealt, should you base your true count division off of 4 decks now instead of the 6 since the full 6 aren’t going to be played?

Nope, you should base it on the original number of decks (6 in this case). Since all the decks are shuffled together you cannot know which cards are discarded (most likely not full perfect 2 decks)

Hey BJA, very quick question; 6 deck shoe, 1 deck cut off so 80% penetration right? Can you take your initial running count and divide it by 5 (as only 5 decks will be played) to make the TC more accurate? And of course as the show goes on, adjusting the divisor by how many deck are left to be played..but your initial divisor wouldn't be 6 because you will never see 6 decks, does that make sense? Very grateful for a response. Trying to be ac accurate as possible. Thank you

I don't think that's how it works, Nicholas, just from a basic statistics perspective. You start with the full shoe, including the cut-off, and subtract the *discard pile* (the cards that are out of play). The remaining deck count is the "population of possible cards," and by dividing the running count by that you get the "per remaining deck" or "true" count. It doesn't matter that they're not going to play those last cards - they're still part of the available population of cards.

what if casino do two rounds and then shuffle? the casino near me offers single deck game of minimum 5 dolars but shuffles every two round, that means more player would be better? if there are 5 players, there would be dealt atleast 12 cards including dealer or maybe around 20 cards as players or dealers hit.. is that good ? as all i have to do is look for first round and decide whether to bet large or small on second round. if only one player is present then it wouldnt be enough cards dealt in just two rounds

2 rounds isn't good enough. You need a minimum of 3 rounds to beat single deck. And you need good enough rules (3:2 on blackjacks).

Blackjack Apprenticeship Yes it is 3:2. And as you said you need atleast 3 round but there wouldn't be enough cards for 3 rounds. One round normally deals with 18 cards including dealers, 5 players and cards that get hit. Three round would be 54 cards

So if you have a +9 true count with less than a deck left in a 6 deck game I should be betting big? I have been practicing all day and I'll be winning when the count is high and then when I get to a +8 or higher with less than a deck left I will bet high and lose almost every time. I'll profit 100+ the whole shoe then lose it all at the end

Jay Shirley You're thinking far too short term. Only after hundreds of hours of live play can a card counter expect to be ahead. Any given shoe is just noise in the grand scheme of things. You will need to become an expert at this game in order to beat it consistently and that doesn't happen over night or even in a week or a month. Becoming a pro takes time, diligence and patience.

What's deck penetration matter if the count is +5 after 1 hand has been dealt, or if the count is +5 at the end of the deck. The count is still +5, your odds of pulling a 10 from the deck regardless of where the shuffle happens on your next hand dealt, is +5. So even if the dealer shuffles after 1/6 decks have gone by, true count doesn't care how many decks remain am I missing something?

The less of the deck is left, the more the count can help you predict the remaining cards in the deck. Suppose the dealer dealt out the whole deck. If you kept an accurate count, you would be able to tell with certainty whether the last card was hi/low/neutral. As more cards are added, you are less certain but you still have significant information about the remaining cards.

How do you combat a discard tray that is blacked out so you can't see how many cards have been dealt? I've read that the average hand contains 2.7 cards. Is the best way to just keep track of how many people are at the table and how many hands you have played to get a rough estimate?

Covered discard trays are tricky. You could use an unbalanced counting system with no true count resolution like KO. That way you don't need to see the cards.

You divide by the total deck count minus the number of decks that have been played. That's the size of the population of cards that you haven't yet counted (in decks, not cards). You really just want the number of unplayed decks, including those that aren't going to *be* played, but because the cards sit in the shoe at a slant it's a lot hard to just "eyeball" that accurate. But you know the total number of decks and the discard pile is easy to estimate.

Well i go to foxwoods in Connecticut and they use 8 decks and see dealers usually cut about a deck and a half so i guess thats real good having 6.5 decks to account for

I have never seen this done at least not yet. I heard some people say that some casinos will shuffle way before the yellow card if they suspect a counter. I do a little counting of my own. To say I am a low limit player just wongs in and bets close to the table minimum and even this the casino start to half shoe me, but they do put the yellow card half way in the deck to indicate only half the shoe will be dealt. Can casinos actually shuffle without notice before the yellow card is reached?

kennydanis It sounds like this casino only deals out half the cards. It doesn't sound like a traditional "half-shoeing." A half-shoeing happens when you are on a game that normally deals out 75% of the cards, for instance, but since they suspect you of counting, the dealer is instructed to cut off way more cards. This casino sounds like they always deal half the cards, which is not a beatable game. The other thing you are talking about is a "preferential shuffle." That's when the dealer shuffles the cards when you jump you're bet. I honestly think that should be considered cheating on the part of the casino because it fundamentally changes the outcome of the game. Card counting is only legal because we DON'T change the outcome of the game when just position ourselves to profit from it.

***** Sorry I did not tell you the whole story. The casino used to deal out 75% percent but now whenever I reach the tables they start half-shoeing it as much as possible. I never seen preferential shuffle done yet and I hope I do not see it. I'm only one person I don't have a big bankroll that's why I am a low limit player that wongs in a plays close to the table minimum. Since I have very limited resources I have a harder time to combat these countermeasures. If I was in your position the preferential shuffle countermeasure can be combated if the table is on a winning streak for the other players. Since people are superstitious and you are not wonging so they will not have a way to put the attention on you they can put it on the casino for "breaking the flow". Since you have two people you can also have one person to be the gambler and one be the counter when the countermeasures come let the "gambler" act superstitious and complain about "breaking the flow."

Like, when I'm on, I literally don't keep an exact count but watch how many face or numbered cards come out, Aces in particular, only 24 possible natural blackjacks ya know. So if I see 12 aces +/- 1 in the first 4 hands, which is essentially 1 deck +/-, then I know there are only 12 left in 5 decks. So later on that would change my betting strategy.thats just one example.

So, what you're saying is that the dealer has control of the penetration. Are they trained to penetrate more or less at certain casinos? If you see a dealer penetrate 2 decks out of a 6-deck shoe I guess you get up and leave the table?

I think the way to think about that is to just recognize that the connection is between the true count and bet size. The true count characterizes *all remaining cards* (all the cards that could be the next cards dealt) independent of deck penetration. That's why you convert to true count in the first place - to get a "per deck" metric that you can make decisions using. If the true count is high, you have an advantage. Doesn't matter how far into the shoe you've played. There will just be less variation in the true count when the shoe is thick. Nice high true counts will happen less often when many decks are left to be played, but if you GET a high true count, you have an advantage.

I was a card counter back in the early 70's when and I could get 80% single deck and 20% 2-deck play. I made 36 trips to Vegas from LA and kept meticulous records. I made about 1.8% on all the money I put in action per hour, but with a lot of volatility. Even so, my equity curve was steadily up. I gave up counting in the late 70's when 4 and 6 decks became popular because 1) I didn't want to join a team and 2) the edge that a solo player could get diminished to the point where an already tedious GRIND became even less interesting. Today, given 6 & 8 decks and continuous shufflers, I would tell any potential card counter; "PLEASE don't expend any of your brainpower and waste a fat chunk of your life on something so fruitless and unrewarding as card counting. Learn something useful that you enjoy and can get paid for doing, whether it's plumbing, stock trading, teaching, HVAC, electrician, entrepreneur, medical assistant, etc. I translated my interest in writing computer programs to evaluate different count strategies (Reveres's Plus Minus, Rever's Advanced Point Count, Hi-Opt II, Hi-Lo, etc., against each other into a 30 year career as a programmer and that worked out great.

I hear you, Leutchik. I think it takes a particular type of "rebel mentality" to really get into the counting lifestyle. There's no denying it's an "adversarial" lifestyle - you go in knowing you are going to be confronted every so often. Now the the mob influence is mostly out of the casinos it's become a less "dangerous" type of thing, but it's still adversarial and yet it's *legal* - so it's a chance to "stick it to the man" without actually drawing legal trouble onto yourself. I think some people just find great appeal in that. I'm rebellious enough to *appreciate* the idea, but I did what you've done - I'm an engineer approaching 60, and I've had a great life doing engineering.

Hey Guys, Please answer the below questions with respect to Hi-LO Card Counting Strategy 1.How to arrive at the Perfect True Count in the 8 deck card game? 2.How easily we can identify the remaining decks from the discard tray? 3.If the running count is 12 and the remaining deck is 6 . The true count is 2. This is easy :-) However if the running count is -9 and the remaining deck is 7 How to arrive at the true count? 4. How frequently we need to get the true count. Is it after seeing each deck in the discard Tray?

They seem to be inactive as of late, but those are not tough questions. 1) Same way, take the running count and divide by the number of decks left. 2) Buy a couple new decks for home and use those to develop and eye for how thick each deck is. It is not tough once you start paying attention to the discard tray. 3) Anytime the running count is a "-" number you will be betting the minimum, because the true count will also be negative. Sometimes the math can be weird (say 11 with 4 decks left). Just use your best guess, you can round to 12 and use 3. 4) This depends on both your bet spread (how aggressive you are playing) and also how accurate you want to be. If you can you should be doing a basic conversion every hand, but what you will start to notice overtime is that you will develop a sense for when you should be betting more or less. Be disciplined, but also don't worry about getting the true count down to an exact science. Using the example above where the running count might be 11 or 12, and maybe there is 3.5 or 4 decks. Just go with 4 decks and 12, use a true count of 3, and based on that bet accordingly.

stay away from a 50% pen shoe. This is called getting half-shoe'd. This is basically the casino asking card counters to leave! As card counters, we want to see at the very least 75% of the cards in the shoe.

More shuffling. A 6 deck game has around 1 deck cut off, for every 5 decks that are in play, the dealer is also doing the work of shuffling an extra "deck" that will never be played. In your situation the dealer is shuffling 4 decks that will never be played. That is a waste of a ton of time that could be used to win money from players. It just isn't worth it for the casino, even if they occasional lose a little bit to a card counter.

This is glorious, I been tryin to find out about "easy blackjack card counting" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Tonvelyn Xiylijah Trick - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now )? Ok let's say hypothetically your playing a 6 deck game with 50% penetration. Obviously you said that's no good. But could you swing that in your favor more if your spread was much higher? Again hypothetically say your in a situation where you won't get backed off your spread is $5-$300. Where I live we have live casino put on by the province. They deal from a shoe with the conditions I stated above. And they dont back ppl off. I really can and have bet 5-300 lol. In the long run would that generate some positive ev? They also allow you to bet behind players even if your not seated at the table yourself. So I guess with a team mate that makes your spread like $5-$600 😂

Deck penetration is huge. Cutting off 2 decks is an awful game. Anything thing worse, don’t play.

They're probably broke now . If they were making soooooo much money they'd keep it quiet and not try to youtube it .... lol. I've seen these kind of players @ the casinos. They're all big and bad until the count is high and they lose thousands of dollars .

I don't count cards and come out ahead every single time I go to the casino. You don't have to count cards to win at Blk Jack ppl. Just gotta know how to play...it's that damn simple. 👎 Unliked video.
