That just goes to show that he thinks they're in a relationship now, she told him that she loved him, he told her that she's always been his first love. That's how Chloe knew it was Michael from the first kiss, Chloe knew Lucifer would be after her like a dog on heat after being away for so long, but Michael was shocked/less sexually into her, we all know Lucifer can't hide his thirst for the detective. Lucifer also does lots & lots of small intimate gentle touches when he's around Chloe, if you rewatch the show you'll see that he caresses her a lot, because we all know he's a big softie when it comes to Chloe, where as Michael did none of that. Michael also turning up to work late on his first case was a dead give away, Lucifer wouldn't have been late on his first day back after being away from Chloe for all that time.
@@zechenma8674 it’s a reference to the story “the boy who cried wolf” where the boy keeps on yelling wolf. Chloe and Lucifer keep on trying to get together and something is always a problem, so it’s kind of similar.

1) I spent a lot of season 4 being like "hug him! Give him a hug!" so when she FINALLY hugged him in Ep 3 I was 😍😍😍😍😍 And then the way he breathed her in / smelled her! Ohhhhhhh 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 "My clever detective." 😍😍😍😍😍😍 When he tickles her... THE HAPPIEST THEY'VE EVER BEEN IN THIS ENTIRE SERIES!!!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 In S4, I LOVED how the cases tied back to their drama. 5x09... Not so much. 💔😭😭😭 The "honey" just felt... weird. But the "present from a sting." 💖💖💖 What if... as God... he can read everyone's mind, but hers??? Imo, "Future Mrs. G" was weird. They never discussed it. (Also, he couldn't say "I love you," but could joke about them being married. I'm sorry. Lord, make it make sense.) (P.S. Where do you download your clips from? They are SO HIGH QUALITY!)
I think the whole dichotomy of him verbalizing his love, while fully doing things lovingly, was interesting. He never really knew or could identify what love is because, as was pointed out, he never knew his Father loved him. He never made it known directly to them. He just moved in His mysterious ways. And He knew it too, that's why once He was retiring, He made sure to say it to Lucifer, so he can know that He DID love him, and it would help him realize his OWN feelings, for both his Dad AND Chloe. He needed to hear that, so he can know that he has felt the same for Chloe. His heart knew he loved her, he basically already said it at the end of s4. But after his family drama at s5, he questioned his own abilities as far as emotion, even though he WAS feeling them LOL
