Why don’t you run leads from the battery in your truck to the back bumper, like the leads you would use for a snow plow that have the connector on the end. Then use the part that wires up to the snow plow and run it to the battery on the trailer. That way you can have it constantly charging the battery while you have the trailer hooked to the truck plus you have a bigger battery capacity and don’t have to worry bout it not having enough power to lift a heavy load
I know I am a year late, but it looks great. Add an up and down button next to the lock on the dovetail and you don’t need to worry about the block of wood. Wire it in parallel with the main remote so you can use either.
No take a router in between the boards, then add l,e,d, light strips ,in between, it will light up light up like the moon ,dave from Detroit mich , love the build
awesome vids.... look into running a 4 ga wire from the truck battery to the back of your truck. then a 4 ga. wire from your trailar battery up to the hitch with a quick connect. then your battery with stay charged up.
Enjoyed all four videos. The trailer looks great and your attention to detail made it better. I have a 30’ bumper pull I built for a one time use to pickup components for a steel building. I was going to shorten it up and turn it into a gooseneck with a dovetail. However you have inspired me. Any insight or detail you can provide on the hydraulic ramp would be appreciated. Great build.
Ive been very happy with the ramp. I do have had a bit of accelerated wear on the edge of the wood that protrudes when the ramp is down. Its just chips and splinters, pretty minimal. I bought the cylinders from surpluscenter years ago. The pump is in the description of one of the videos. Thanks!!

Hey Sir ! May I ask your opinion on Steel plate vs white oak !? From the numbers I have come up with the steel may be a little lighter!? With the money being about the same??
What type of wood used for the deck, why not use checker plate for the entire deck and what was the final weight of the trailer alone and then how much weight can u put on the trailer?
That's an interesting thought. I live in CA and the local trailer sales lots are sold out of enclosed trailers. The general consensus is that its due to the mass exodus as well as the construction boom.....which seems contradicting in my opinion.
Thought is good about the mesh to protect the PV panel, but it will shade the panel causing a loss of power generated. Maintainer panels don't make many watts anyway.so shading them ruins their output.
you did a real nice job, I was left wondering why you didn't lift it up from one side with your forklift and then spray your stain on the bottom side of the wood.
That's exactly what I was thinking. Used motor oil is the best trailer deck and side board preservative there is. Keeps water out, lets the wood breath.
I do a lot of wood fence post butts with used oil but I dont think I could bring myself to do it on my trailer. Its stinky, especially during the warm summer months. That said; I have sprayed it with diesel. Thanks for the heads up
Hear in Phoenix you take it to the DMV and it gets inspected for the proper requirements for the size of trailer. You present recipes for the material you used because it’s home build and they give you a serial number, home built trailer title and permanent plates.
