I’m trying to declutter myself, lol. My basic rule is that if I haven’t used it in the last 6 months or remember I even had it in the first pIace, then I don’t need it and it gets tossed. I never realized how much money I wasted on buying knick-knacks until I started my decluttering journey.
I try that, but sometimes when I pick up an item, and I actually see it, I get in my head and do the whole " well.I could use that later." Knowing i wont, but still talk my self out of tossing it.
The 6-Months Rule! 🎉 I am also starting my Organizing Business journey and it's really the amount of money that was spent on those things that will make you rethink. But glad clients are already ready to move on and keep the space organized. 😊
Compliments to the owner for allowing her participation to be recorded! It’s a very positive decision to reach out for help any time for any needs we have. Compliments to the company that assisted her as well! You all worked hard together with mission accomplished!
I'm this lady!!! I have to touch EVERYTHING while I'm decluttering my clothes. My husband NEVER understood why, but it's something that brings me peace during the process.
I remind myself this because I actually imagine me and my family buying a larger property. So far I have gave AWAY books, toys, clothes, jewellery and handbags and makeup NEXT may be kitchen items. * paperwork was the main challenge. * make sure to check All pockets of handbags and clothes for lottery tickets, reciepts, money, jewellery
Tell her thanks for allowing strangers a glimpse into your work. I get inspired by videos like this. Going to pull my clothes out and sort through them the same.
Fantastic work everyone!! Especially Koi 😹 I am trying two new techniques for decluttering: 1) Asking "can I live _without_ this?" 2) For clothes, instead of focusing on what to GET RID OF, I only focus on what I ENTHUSIASTICALLY want to KEEP.... I only make a pile of clothes I LOVE to wear and hang those back in the closet. Basically using what I already have to create a capsule wardrobe. Anything I know I can live without gets donated immediately. And anything that I'm not sure about, those items I don't really wear but feel maybe I should keep for whatever reason, gets stored out of sight. If there is an item I keep pulling out of that storage, it gets added to my closet. Anything else stays stored away, and if I don't use it for a year (or less!) it gets donated! Of course, there are a few items I keep for sentimental reasons, for seasonal use, or for mundane specific occasions (interviews, funerals, etc).
Ah I love it! What a great job decluttering! I like her closet with double hanging space. I’ll be adding a second shelf to mine sometime this summer! Gotta take advantage of the vertical space! Totally love the Frozen dress and what a cute curious cat. 😊
Impossible to tell from a RU-vid short, but the client seemed very engaged and committed to the end result, which is amazing to see and I’m sure helps significantly with the process. I wish her the best!
@@diannh2894 I am in Los Angeles, CA. For out of state clients, I do virtual sessions over Zoom. We've also travelled out of state when requested, though it's typically more cost effective to hire someone locally if you'd like in-person services.
Oooh the way I would love to take the stuff and set up the store at my church. One thing I live for is clothing. I can’t let go sometimes but for some reason I can when it comes to helping others 😂❤
I started downsizing stuff 15 years ago, even with four kids, before the minimalist movement became a trend. I used to have closets like this. Over time I got used to less and less. There is so much you truly, truly do not need. Having space makes me feel like I can breathe. I used to be this lady and now I can't even imagine going back. Give up the stuff. I promise that what you gain is so much more. When I see people with this much stuff I now hist see bondage and slavery. Free yourself.
My problem is I buy a lot for my kids. But they are growing and don’t like what I pick out anymore. I also have a sentimental attachment to some of the clothes. But I gotta let it go. It’s tough but I need to get rid of this mess of kid clothes lol
As someone who has always had an emotional attachment to things, I totally understand and relate. Having someone who is 100% there to support you by your side can make a world of difference. I believe in you!
BINGO. I was where you are. 6 months ago I started decluttering all of their toys, clothes n books. I have kept few first dresses n toys which I brought from my own money with my first job as a teacher after ceserean. I have gave AWAY somejwellery , dresses, n books felt BETTER.
You know that feels good. _ i'm ashame and broke but god I would love the help. Do it on my own with TY on helps but still I could be done and over all this if I had the help. One thing forsure I never want to get back to the mess I'm in. tears
