Declutter and clean with me ! Getting my house in order . MOTIVATION TO CLEAN!

Older houses in California have laundry rooms in a detached shed or garage also. New build homes have indoor laundry but not the older ones, it’s not uncommon at all. People like your channel because, well besides your personality and content 😉, your home is relatable. I downsized a few years back and I’m comfortable living in a smaller, older home.

I put off sorting through bins of Christmas decor that was stored in the garage…for about 10 years. When I finally forced myself to do it last fall…..guess how long it took me….20 minutes….yes…20 minutes….got rid of 80%. I donated it all. Felt so good!

If you have ever heard the biblical phrase, ‘raise a child in the way they should go”, for many this is about religion, but part of raising our children “in the way they should go” is more than that, it’s teaching about cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, and finances as soon as they are able to be taught (my kids were started as soon as they could take a toy out of the toy box and shown and directed to put the toy away before getting another toy but that was us), children are sponges and they do understand you and what you are teaching them from birth, so I am so glad to hear your children have chores. Home care is a daily, on going job, some days it consumes your day and others it’s just a wipe and put away, but all days it’s about having joy in what you have vs not have, about celebrating daily that we are fortunate/blessed to wake up in a bed, to have a roof over our heads, food on the table and clothes on our backs and having our children and spouses right there with us through all of it. Thank you Karrie for always being positive in your posts and that includes those down days where you work to positivity.

The county water is no better the first thing we invested in when we moved here was a water filtration system. It’s a MUST!!! The hard water is craaazzyyyyy

I like to set a time too, especially if its a chore i’ve been putting off because I don’t really want to do it. 😂 I made a list for this week while watched you clean. Tomorrow is a new day. Love you girl 💞

Karrie - would you have enough space to build a shallow closet next to your frig where the mirror is? May you could build a small bench to put at your back door for shoes, bags, outside stuff, etc. and you could build your broom closet next to the frig??

Katie, you have such great ideas - the 30 min timer and sharing the workload with the kids - all great ideas. You don't seem yourself, so I hope you are well and feeling okay. I'm in Illinois and it's hot as Hades here and that really takes a lot out of you. Thanks you for sharing your cleaning tips. I agree wholeheartedly though, in the great scheme of things, don't beat yourself if you can't get it all done. Keep trying and do the best you can.

Loved this video!! For the kids clothes, I put an over the door shoe organizer on the back of their room door and make outfits for the week on the weekends. Saves me so much time. For the shoes, you could try those shoes containers from ikea that hook on the wall. They’re about 6” in depth so they’re perfect for small spaces

I saw someone buy some cheap pillows, pull out the stuffing and stuff the back of her couch cushions to make them fuller again. Just a thought ❤😊

With the closet you want to build at the back door. Make the top a cabinet may e and a regular size closet on the bottom maybe.

yep my grandparents laundry room was like that too i think its a southern thing they lived in new orleans in the 50's or 60's when the houses were built hope the kids are having a great school year! great job!

The 30 minute timer seems like a great idea. I tend to waste a lot of my day, so if I have a limit for a particular project, that would make me feel better about myself at the end of the day.

Karrie, you are always such an inspiration. Even to this 70 year old lady. Always fun watching you & your sweet family. Your kiddos are so good. Now I know there are times, but seriously, I know good kids when I see them. I’m a retired teacher. How you are training them up to be responsible is so important. I jus subscribed and started watching u last nite I've watched every video on Ur cleanin channel and now I've started on Ur other channel and I jus keep watching. I luv the idea of the 30min timer per room and I'm actually gonna give it a go I actually do all my cleanin at nite then I wake up to a clean house we have 2 dogs so durin the day I feel my cleanin wud be wasted I do though have alot of decluttering that I am gonna need to approach lol keep bein u girl x

For your kitchen closet idea, you could do either sliding doors or bi-fold doors. Either of those shouldn't interfere with your outside door.

Put command hooks above your cubical to hang the book bags. That would look cute 😍

Watching you struggle with the couch cushions gave me chills! 😂 I have to tilt mine on its side, unzipped the top cushion and shove my hand in to move the stuffing around. Lol.

The space by the back door, closet, double closet doors as high as the dark wood trim, then a cabinet on top with double doors. Basically it would mirror your pantry, but with one long cabinet, and one upper cabinet.

My kids always had chores when they were little I'd just have them pickup their toys before bed as they got older the jobs also got bigger they didn't get allowance but they did earn experiences they wanted to do once a month have a fabulous weekend sweet friend 😀 😊 ❤️

Hey Karrie love the motivation for the weekend. In the space you were talking about, maybe invest in a vintage or antique wardrobe cabinet that you can refinish. That would look amazing in that space. Just like you did with the antique dresser, you gave it a modern look.

I like the entry way area. Not an eyesore. But they have those bench with hooks and storage units. For backpacks and shoes etc.. Also a pocket door might work if you need hidden space for extra stuff.

Great motivation Karrie. Yes most homes in Florida the laundry is outside even in a lot of New homes. When I was at my friend's home I was like where is the laundry room she laughed because she was from Pittsburgh Pa and new it was not like this. Now that I have been in Florida for years I see it often.

This helped me get going. Have dragged today with back aching not horrible but achy. Finally put something on and took a Motrin and set the timer and cleared our stairs of things that needed put away. Probably not good with back aching but got it done and some time to get our beach travel bag out to see what I needed to pack for it. 30 mins up and I rested 15 and going back upstairs to gather trash and laundry which has to go to the basement lol

Home depot has turf sheds are on sale.. just a idea because we use to have the same shed you have then we upgraded to a turf shed with more space they are tall so you have a 2nd level storage. Big hugs from Texas ❤❤

Wow your water sounds like our deal. When they tested our water it wasn't on the chart. IT WAS SO BAD. It smelled bad. Our laundry wanted getting clean my hair was so nasty from washing with that bad water. Its expensive but ill never regret buying the system.

I grew up in Southern California, and our washer and dryer were in our attached garage. I think it's more common in places where it doesn't get that cold.

Karrie, I think you need a small round coffee table to maximize your space. Honestly, by the back door I might put a bottom cabinet in like for shoes, but keep the top half of the way it is because that’s a great area for decor.😊

Karri, put labels on the totes so the kids know what's in them, instead of the making a mess.

Mom always had us pick out our next day school outfit to save time. She also bought colors that would all go together.
