You are living my life goals!!! I can't wait to get to a place where I feel like I'm done. I have such a long way to go. But I am enjoying the process 😊 You inspire me!!
I agree 100%. We’ve been decluttering and moved into a smaller older home. I can’t wait until i feel like I’m done and everything has a place and everything is in its place. Love the stove!!
I love the tea drawer! Something I recommend doing with extra bags is donating them to a food bank, so the clients have a way to take their food home. Cheers!
Your first sentence was absolutely key: you have to remember what the vision was. When I start getting stressed with decluttering I try to keep my eyes on the vision of how I want to live. It really helps. The longer I listened to you the more I realised you give very good advice.
YES!! I have to remind myself constantly while decluttering. Works to not get overwhelmed and to be diligent with what I am keeping/getting rid of. Thanks KC!💕
‘Catnip, I don’t even have a cat’ brilliant aha! This has really helped me! I’ve been trying to declutter my upstairs (3 bedrooms) and this has taught me to do one room at a time and one thing at a time. Thank you so much for this! I subbed :) x
"potting soil - but i don't even have a garden" made me laugh because it's so true! i find things and go 'when did i ever think i was going to use or need this???'
Less is more and in a world that is constantly encouraging you to have, to want, to buy, to get tempted, to own; I realised that the war against less is waged in the shops, supernarkets where you constantly decide to grab something or not. We end up suffocating in what we thought would help us thrive. We are moving soon, so a declutter is definitely on the list and my daughter decided to keep the wardrobe minimal when she finally gets her own room. My husband is the worst at this. He grew up with little decent clothes and buys stuff he never wears just to feel worthy or safe from need. Trauma seeps into every area of your life. It is hard work. Keep the faith, and keep those countertops free. Well done. 💕
My mom was like your husband. So many things purchased and honestly never used or worn (she grew up dirt poor and immigrated to the states). I have a little bit of that in me that I am diligently working on releasing. I have bought a lot of clothes for the some day I reach a fantasy goal weight. Sigh..,. Doing clothing next so more to be uncovered. This decluttering stuff hits on every level!! Thanks for the thoughtful comment and a good declutter before moving is going to feel fantastic!!❤️
Hi Karla, I loved, loved, loved your after project, I couldn’t believe the incredible calming, spacious space you created. I found you by God. I was wanting to watch a video to motivate me to declutter and organize myself today and your video popped up. And your words are wise and inspiring about how you want to lighten your load. Thanks for videoing your whole process, and talking it through out loud helped me so much. Your video is amazing and it helps me to see an actual example of “how to get through it all”. And you made me laugh when you said, “I save those, I don’t know why”. Love the advice you are giving and I am planning to play you while I do my own physical and mental health!! I was anxious when I saw all your things out, like how I was with my kitchen declutter, but once you showed the end product, Wow, I was blown away. And all the bags, the one wine glass, plastic tupperware, old trays, old expired things, I am so grateful for you showing all of the process you went through. Thank you so very much, Arlene (Miami)
Oh Arlene you make me wanna cry thank you for your beautiful message!!! I'm so grateful my video is inspiring you!! One item at a time and you will get there. Lots of love from Los Angeles! xoxo💕💕💕
Thank you for being so real. Most show storage bins or baskets, perfectly lined up, with all matching dishes and cookware. Realistically, I think most people have a mix of things and just need a system that allows them to find what they need in a quick and simple way.
I've been decluttering my home for the pat three years, and it's so exciting to see it slowly coming together. I love the way you arranged your glass shelves! The clear drinkware with the cork and light wood is so visually pleasing.
With ADD cleaning is rough so I have moved to a minimalist japandi style of living and being able to clearly see what I have at my disposal not only helps me find it easily but is a visual reminder for me. I've been less overwhelmed than I used to be when cleaning and I'm really happy with my space, adding just paint color made the difference for me. So happy for you!
ohhhh i love this!! I plan on doing some painting and adding color. I like that minimalism doesn;t mean you have to only have white walls. We get to set up our spaces in a way that feels just right for us. I will have to look up japandi style. Thanks for sharing!❤️
@@TheCarlaProject if/when I own a home one day I want a vintage stove and a vintage farmhouse sink! I LOVE what you did with the shelving unit the glass canisters really made the whole space look calm clean and upscaled!
@@paige5191 I ADORE a farmhouse sink!! Thank you so much Paige! I love design. I'm actually doing a mini makeover on my kitchen. I'll make a video about it in about a month so stay tuned! 😊💕😍
Hi in Belgrade!! I would love to see a Serbian kitchen I’ll have to look up a video. Yeah as far as apartments go I think this is one of the biggest kitchens I’ve had in L.A.! 😍💕
Great transformation!! Thanks for the reminder to just handle one item at a time. It is so simple, but I'm so overwhelmed right now, and that gave me the push I needed to start again.
What a nice redo of your kitchen! The glass jars add a classy touch. I know I'm watching & commenting on your videos out of order (this one is 2 years old that I'm watching for the first time), but they are so incredibly motivating. For example, tonight after work I actually did some decluttering and organizing, and that is SO out of character for me after a day at work. Thank you!
My tiny kitchen is only 5 feet 6" wide there isn't enough room too change my mind in !!! I declutter majorly. Gave away. Sold on Offer Up and donated!! Feels so much better.
I'm working on decluttering our small home as well. It's enjoyable watching other "decluttering RU-vidrs" for motivation but I find that their homes already look so clean. It is refreshing to see someone actually cleaning out a messy space that looks like mine. Keep it up! Your Kitchen looks beautiful ❤️
Wooow, the thumbnail gets me excited 😎 so curious to see what you decluttered. The kitchen is a place in my home, where things get stuffed in corners and drawers and they almost move to a different universe, because I forget they exist 😂
It just crossed my mind to tell you to put the cat food out in a nearby park where there are cats. My friend doesn't have any cats but, she likes to buy cat food and feed them on her way to/back from uni.
that is so sweet that your friend does that! my mom used to feed all the neighborhood cats. i left it out front and someone took it for their kitty who I am sure is happy now 😊
Love you Carla! Just started watching but enjoy each video! Your apartment is so cool! So much character and you have put so much of yourself into it!! I am a 67 years young retired teacher. My hubs is retired too and helps me so much. We have a.. paid for.. townhouse that we recently had remodeled so enjoying it more. We have a tiny English type garden out front and a cute, cozy private patio in back. I am constantly tweaking all of my spaces. Little changes mean a lot! You Go Girl!! Enjoy your life and your precious pup!! Stay beautiful!!! Shane from Middle Tennessee your fan and friend 💕💕💕
"Cat nip" I don't have a cat!! Omg I choke on my smoothie lmaooo, it's so typical when you declutter and find things you truly really do not need. Just stumbled on your video and I have subscribed, looking forward to browsing all your videos xx Amazing results, well done xx
I really love the fact that you have a REAL VIDEO!!! Instead of other videos where their house is picture perfect with like, nothing even wrong with where they’re organizing!! And they have NO DIRT!! 😂 Thanks for the real video! ❤️
This is so helpful! I did this in 2020. I did a major purge of each drawer and each closet and cabinet. It felt so good. I put the items in a box in the ally and it would disappear overnight. I was surprised and also happy to find that other people would find my unused items to be useful. 🌻
Inspiring, putting yourself out there like this is hard, I’m going through the same thing right now, happily doing so, throwing things away, giving things away. It still is so hard for me to throw away something that feels like it still has some sort of ‘value,’ even if it’s all hidden or packed away in unorganized bins. Anyways, I just wanted to say thank you for making me feel like I’m not the only one that struggles with this. I felt so alone for so long because I never wanted anyone to see my clutter. Now that I’ve made some progress and watching this video now just motivates me even more. You are so great and have done an amazing job from the looks of it, I hope I can get myself to just do it like you have. (It’s just that Sometimes it feels impossible and I’m just filled with shame.) On that note, I’m going to go organize something 😁
So many struggle with this so you are not alone. Just keep going through your home one room and one item at a time and move anything out that is not a reflection of you at your happiest and best. Takes time but it is so worth it. No shame girl only new beginnings!! Bravo to you xoxo
Oh my gosh thank you I am so obsessed with it! I ordered wallpaper from target this week and going to line the inside of the drawer and make a vid about it! Thx mariela!!
Samson did not blink at that one part lol! I laughed at the holy water and the catnip. You did an amazing job! Love the little tea drawer and station! The clear counters are so satisfying!! Looking forward to watching more of your journey!
It looks soooo good! You have inspired me to declutter and make my space more aesthetic. Catnip LOL. Samson is so cute. Where is your shelf from? Love how you laid it out. Kudos to you!
So beautiful! Talk about positive energy! The tile counters have character that you can see and enjoy now. Your kitchen makes me happy too. It feels so clean and warm. A small plant could look nice too but really its perfect just as it is!
I am a minimalist, I was decluttering for 3 years just to come in this state of my home. Very happy with less cleaning, less things around me. Now I've moved in 200 sq feet apt and never been happier.
You did a wonderful job and I have to say this is the first video like this were I feel like a real person did this. You’ve encourage me to do my own kitchen in 2 steps.
minimalism... the best thing i ve ever done.. it changed my life i had anxiety now after five years of minimalism i feel free ....once a month i declutter its not easy but i m not going back to chaos again.....i ve been in your position i know how you feel God bless you and your family....by the way you are very beautiful kisses and hugs from athens greece
I love your intro what a dream it would be to walk into my home and have only the things I need n love! Thank you for that simple but powerful phrase! Going to use this as I try to tackle the bathrooms and bedrooms but the kitchen like that is a whole other beast I've been avoiding it for almost a year! Thank you for your content! 💞☺️💞🙏🙏🙏
i am so glad that youtube suggested your videos to me! i've been craving change for some time now, and i've been wanting to move some furniture and maybe replace my bed, but for that i also have to declutter and get rid of lots of things. the issue is that i don't know where to start bc it feels quite overwhelming. the fact that you talk about these struggles makes me feel like i'm not alone, and that i can actually do it if i just start. thank you for creating content like that!
I love using a dish mat. Easy to throw in the wash and also to put to the side when you need the counter space. Metal dish racks always tend to rust over time. Great video!
Wonderful, it such a relief when you get things in order. When you can just grab and go without pushing things around. Oh plastic bags, I do Remember them in overflowing drawers as a kid. We used them for our garabage bins. Nowadays they cost 6.5 SEK each and still so Small. I use bigger resuable ones now when I do groceries and fill my garbage bins with actual garbage bags which really you can find way cheap still durable.
I had a friend that held on to EVERYTHING. The best way I helped her was told her I had a family that was really in need and would appreciate any donated kitchen stuff (this was true) . I went over and we cleared out so much. She thankfully felt good about letting go if it was going to help someone else. It was definitely a win/win. She carted around her mom's wedding China in 6 large boxes over rthe years and 5 moves. I told her to call her mom and ask if mom wanted it. If not; it had to go. Mom laughed and said that should have been gone years ago like the marriage was. The new rule was if you don't use it; it goes.
Thanks for posting. Oh goodness. I will need to come back and watch this multiple times. I like my kitchen toys and it is the easiest place to impulse buy things for the kitchen. My pantry is in a closet separate from the kitchen I don't even want to go through that one. I am realising that my issue isn't so much cleaning it's that I have too much stuff. It is a process I am gradually getting tired of all the things and seeing the appeal of having less stuff. Especially when I can't see the things I have because there is too much in the shelf. Part of my issue is keeping things "just in case" and being interested in so many different things.
