alright.. here’s part two to my decluttering my closet series where I try to get rid of 50 more items on top of the 101 items that I’ve already decluttered! This was even harder but much needed!
I always advocate for a "breakup" day for clothes that you're unsure about donating! I'm on the fence about a shirt, wear it for a few hours, and I'm always reminded as to why I don't like to wear it. It makes it so much easier to say goodbye!
Replacing items with ones that you love and will wear a lot sounds good, especially when you're already getting rid of ones that you don't wear and don't love.
Have you tried folding and storing t shirts vertically in the drawer? Marie Kondo advocates this. It is much easier to see all shirts at a glance. I do it with my scarves, too.
The floral dress that you said flatters you…. Absolutely adorable! I have the same body type as you do and those are my favorite types of dresses. You should wear it more often, it looks good on you 💕
Yay, you achieved your goal! It can be difficult to part with stuff, so it's motivating to watch your decluttering videos. Today I worked on decluttering makeup/perfume/skincare/haircare stuff, and I feel a sense of accomplishment... which makes me want to declutter more. Thanks for sharing!
Girl!! Wear whatever you want. I don't care if skinny jeans are out I still wear them, and also even if flare legs go out my butt will still be wearing those too. Be you, do you, and dare to be different.
@@Diniecita RIGHT??? Same. I stock up when they are "in" and that way i am not trying to hunt them down. I think because I am pear shaped they just work on my body.
It's ok to keep sentimental things. I go thru my clothes at the end of every season. Everytime I think I need to go shopping for something I end up cleaning or gardening. By the end of the day I realise I don't actually need it after all. Every penny I save goes towards my bills or mortgage 😊
Congrats on being able to let go of more, that is always so hard! For me I started a new habit years ago, which helped me reduce my closet even more and really start loving and appreciating every item. I try to maintain all my clothes and give them maintenance runs when they really need them. I.e. I have a razor for pilling, a small sowing set (I have no talent in sowing what so ever but it works for me) and some shoe care items. Also every time I buy a new item I add altering costs (if needed) to the price in my head so the item will fit me perfectly (especially jeans, I know get so many complements when wearing them). I am also close to 30 and found that I am tired of being overwhelmed and just buying things because they are trend. Which makes it difficult to find myself The task of caring for my wardrobe makes me love my clothes even more and lets me appreciate them in a new way. I also buy less new clothes because I am still so in love with the ones I have. And now there are no more surprises when I dig deep into my closet. I know every item inside out. Welp, sorry for the long essay... You are doing amazing! Keep at it!
You are doing so well. I have a container in my wardrobe that I throw clothes in that I don’t wear when it’s full I take it to goodwill. If I do pull it out and put it back in my wardrobe, that’s ok, as it means I’m not ready to get rid of it yet. Don’t put pressure on yourself 😊
I do regular declutters now AND currently hold one in three out ratio. So far I've been good and kept my NO Buy of clothes & makeup. It's nearly March so I can't wait to lower my credit card amount to $2,000 😅
I’ve recently discovered your channel, and I’ve watched everyone of your videos. Your voice is so soothing to me. From one anxious gal to another, keep the videos coming! You are appreciated ❤
Yes 👏 the hardest part of declutter is getting things OUT!!! I also started my declutter project when I turn 30. Now I’m 40 and let me tell you it never stops, however, I love my closet and I’m more organized with a better style.
Thank you! Although I do not have a massive collection of clothing, I was inspired by your decluttering to throw away 3 shirts with frayed collars and cuffs that I was "only wearing around the house"!
What helped make me was reverse decluttering. Instead of looking for what I could get rid of, i looked for what I really wanted to keep. If it was a maybe, I tried it on. If I still wasn't sure, i put it aside in a "quarantine bin" to be decided about in 6 months.
Good job decluttering a whopping 150 items. I’ll need to do the same but it’s soooo hard. Tomorrow hopefully I will find some time to do some decluttering. Wish me luck.
Hey sweet girl, I just wanted to say how proud I am of you. you're doing well! I look forward to your next declutter videos. Remember take your time for this, you are in control of this. Lots of love from me
Hey there, somebody probably already mentioned this, but it can be helpful to group items by colour/style. For example, all striped shirts or all black shoes. It makes it easier to find the best one(s) and to get rid of the ones that aren't as flattering or that you enjoy as much.
I found you yesterday and decided to watch all of them last night and today. I decluttered a few things in my room today and straightened up a little bit long ways to go still but I started. 😂
What a huge accomplishment after your recent clothing overhaul video where you decluttered so much! One trick that may help you, helped me a few years ago. Try turning your hangers around so they hang opposite to how you have them now. As you wear the item and hang it back up, turn the hanger the normal way. If after 6mths or even a year, if they are still turned that way you can visually see what you have not worn in awhile which may help you during your next huge declutter project.
Making great progress! You might find it helpful to a) do the hanger trick where you spin the hangers the wrong way and spin them back when you wear them - helps to see what you actually wear and b) set yourself a number limit for each category and pick your favourites to fill the category, for example I have 5 jumpers an I don’t allow myself more than that. Less definitely is more for me. My wardrobe sits at around 52 total and that is perfect for me. Good luck!
First time watching; and I appreciate your authenticity, calm demeanor and genuiness. Great job decluttering 50 items of clothing.. It isn't always easy letting go of clothing; but you did a great job and reached your goal. (And finding out you decluttered 150 items over the last couple months is motivating me to declutter even more) I recently decluttered a large trash bag full of clothing for donation; and I'm working on gathering items to be taken to a consignment shop. I'm slowly decluttering a little at a time. Thank you for sharing this with us! I'm so glad I just happened to come across your video today, and have now decided to subscribe! 😊
Loved your video, great job! I just changed out all my hangers and finally organized by category and colors. It’s a bad sign when I had to dust off clothes that I haven’t worn in who knows how long. I liked that you set a number goal. I think I’m going to speed declutter by 20s this week.
50! That’s amazing well done! It can be so hard. I decluttered mine and left some things that I need to replace (e.g jeans when winter comes and pjs when I get around to it) but haven’t done yet lol I think this might be my sign to have a pair of pyjamas without holes! Maybe my next goal is my toddlers clothes… so many pile up but he wears the same clothes I grab for him that are on top of the pile 😂
You've got such a calm energy, it's lovely. You also remind me of a dear friend of mine whom I haven't met in a long while, so it's nostalgic and soothing to watching your videos haha. I'm glad you reached your goal, and thanks for the content. Looking forward to the next declutter :)
I wish i was someone who could play a video and clean but its not possible. Doing more than one thing at a time is soooooooo not in my genetics LOL. I would either miss the video content or stop cleaning my stuff. Generally I watch decluttering/cleaning videos and get motivated to declutter once the video is finished. You did so well decluttering another 50 items, and the scarf absolutely counts!
As we get older graphic tees are good for around the house and are not as in fashion anymore out and about. Only keep staple pieces you can mix and match and build off of.
I love the counting! I find it motivating to keep a count on my little white board. But I also try to think about the frequency of how often I can wear something in a season with the quality I have.
I am so happy that you didn’t let anybody talk you into getting rid of those three dresses. Honestly, i feel like decluttering is all about finding Your Own Voice and strengthening you decision making abilities. I have been on my decluttering journey for over a decade and it is absolutely fascinating to me what every new pass through my items brings up in terms of emotions, lessons, and a clearer vision of what i want and what works for me and makes me feel good. I think it is one of the most liberating things you can do for yourself. But always in your own time and way 💗💗💗 BTW, you think after ten plus years i’d have nothing left to declutter, but ofcourse new things come into my house (i bring them in or others gift them). I have also become a lot more intentional on what i bring into my house and started a list of in/out in 2024. So motivating. Thanks for sharing again! And ps: i am currently working on my sentimental papers and my seed collection 😄
Buy quality, they make you feel so great wearing them. Natural fiber (silk, cashmere, linen, wool, Cotton) keeps longer and feels so luxurious. I toss and sold all my synthetics. Since I decluttered, I haven’t bought anything. No need for anymore.
You did it!, definitely not easy, I am currently working on decluttering Christmas items, I've been avoiding it like the plague, I've been working on it in chapters, but I am finally starting to trim down, it's a hard one for me because I love Christmas
You did great! :D I am excited to see the future accessories/misc declutter videos! I folded my laundry and mended a pair of leggings while watching this :D I just found your channel the other day, so now I'm gonna go watch some of your other decluttering vids while I try to clean my living room ^^ Hope you are having a lovely day!
I just found your channel maybe a week ago and I am so glad I did. You have such a calm energy about you and I love it. I am currently also trying to get rid of stuff cuz I have way too many clothes and I don’t care what anyone says, it’s so hard. As a girl our brains can come up with so many reasons we need to keep stuff and even make it seem rational. You are doing great! I look forward to many more videos from you girl.
You are doing so gooood! You go! I'm so proud of you! This is a journey so it's going to take you a few rounds to get to your desired amount, but take your time. You're doing SO well! Your video made me want to go declutter but I'm at the point where I can't declutter anymore. I'll be without clothes if I do that xD. I will also be 30 in a couple of weeks! I hope you have a blessed birthday
You could probably get rid of more if you were to wear your sentimental shirts/ concert shirts to bed. No point in having a bin of clothes you save" just because" . You had more PJ bottoms than tops., so try matching them up and get rid of the rest. Also, don't keep stuff anything that you wouldn't wear out of the house. Congratulations on a great job!!
I like your video, well I like most videos with decluttering, though I am not a minimalist. If I may, I would like to suggest two books that you might find interesting. The first is of course 'The life changing magic og tidying up', and the second is 'The curated Closet' by Anuschka Rees. I used these when I got tired of having nothing to wear although having a booming closet. I still use the tricks I learned to avoid bad purchases (they still happen but far less than they used to), and instead by clothes I will care for and love, and also makes me feel good.
I loved this vlog.Where do you buy all your cool bins that you store everything in? I would love to see you model that multicolored glitter dress that you kept.(It looks very cute. And i am a dress/skirt girl!)A great job.Thank you for the inspiration. ❤
I am working on my homework for my Racial Justice class, I have two weeks left to go in this session and I cannot wait. After this class, I have 3 to go before I graduate with my BS in Justice Studies and I can finally head to law school. I cannot wait.
you're doing great! do you think it might be a little bit easier not to stick to a certain number of items to declutter (maaaybee?) ? :)) it feels like a lot of pressure. and sometimes you end up getting rid of things you actually liked (yeah, we've been there)
Great job! Slow progress is intentional 🫶 I’m working on buying less at thrift stores and second hand. I go through this cycle every few months of declutter my closet because there’s no room and I’d just like to try to be more intentional about it. I think it hard to do while thrifting and second hand because we often can’t try stuff on and so it’s just making guesses. I say all this as I’m about to head to a community thrift swap in an hour. Thanks for sharing!! By the way this was my first video watching of yours and I loved the honesty and it just felt like you were being you. ❤
