Please keep comments respectful and kind. Decluttering is a sensitive subject matter and we worked really hard on this project. I wanna keep this community a safe and uplifting space. Especially so I can continue to have guests who are willing to be vulnerable and brave enough to share their homes online. Thank you for your continued support!❤🙏🏾

Hi Carla, I hope you block each person that does not follow your community guidelines for comments. There's absolutely no reason to make any comments other than positive, supportive & appreciative.❤

It always fascinates me with what comments people will leave. We are seeing into peoples homes, how lucky we are that they are willing to share their spaces with us. Imagine if your home was filmed🤔 We are all individuals and we all live differently. But after watching Carla for many years I have come to appreciate how she modifies her decluttering and organising style to her clients needs and wants. I also love her insights and self reflection on why people do things they way they do, including herself. Thanks again for another great episode. Also cracking music again ⭐️ Congratulations on 100K you have worked so hard for it and have really made some great shows.

Oh my gosh, thank you for this kind and thoughtful comment. It’s the perfect palette cleanser before I go to bed after reading several critical ones which makes me so embarrassed to share the episode with the person who was brave enough to open up their home. I reassure guests that my community is so kind and the comments are so supportive so when they skew in this direction, it always leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Appreciate your positive comment and all the other positive comments (I know there’s always more good than bad) but ya know negativity bias makes it easy to remember those bad ones😅. Anyways, thanks again 🙏🏾❤️ progress not perfection!

Always amazing how Stephanie can declutter! My one suggestion would be to swap the pantry cupboard and the plates/bowls cupboard, so that it's closer to the dishwasher - might flow better when you're putting away. And then that whole side of the kitchen is non-food items. Amazing work regardless 👏

People collect so many mugs.. crazy the amount of space they take up.. eventually everyone will find an answer.. I have one of one of those expandable wooden racks that hang on the wall.. the good thing about that for me is that I can see them and enjoy looking at them, also for me is a container, a limit. Which because I am a single woman living alone.. how many do I actually need? Even given that I have guests occasionally? I have to tell you that when one has a dishwasher, one needs enough to fill the dishwasher.. so there’s that too. Anyway, thank you Carla. You are one of my favorite RU-vidrs ever. So much better! It's easy to become blind to the clutter after you've been living in a space for a while. A few observations: Turntables beat bins for spices and bottles. Two-tiered ones even better. Then you don't have to pull a whole bin out every time you need a spice. And don't forget the backs of the cabinet doors. You can hang things on them like measuring cups and spoons, graters, etc., with Command hooks. That would probably allow you to get rid of the big basket with the utensils in it and free up that counter space. You can also get a rack for the back of a cabinet door to hold the boxes of foil and plastic wrap, which would free up a whole shelf in the cabinet to put a bin for at least some of the items currently in the wooden box on the counter. But even if you keep the foil and wrap where they are, move the shelf above them down so the items on that shelf are easier to see and reach.
@daCubanaqt
@daCubanaqt 13 часов назад
I have to disagree about turntables for spices. I used to have my spices arranged like this, but it was a bit annoying especially getting to the spices in the middle. I would always have to go through all the spices to find the one i wanted! 😂 Having a little bin to pull out and have out on the counter is great when you are cooking. If they are labeled on the too, even better.
@RadCenter
@RadCenter 13 часов назад
@@daCubanaqt if she had a double-decker turntable, she probably wouldn't need to have spices in the middle of it. The only ones I have in the middle are back stock for the ones around the edges. She already has a full spice rack on the counter.

Wow she's done an amazing job going through her things with you! I think because she wants to have a full dishwasher before running it (which I agree with) means she needs more items than someone like me who doesn't have a dishwasher. And over time she'll be able to see what she genuinely never uses because she'll be able to use all her favourites all the time, which is very exciting!

So many judgmental people in the comments! The inside of the cupboards looked cleaner when they were putting stuff back in than when they were taking it out. We saw Carla wipe a shelf with a cloth and the shelf look no different so I’m thinking that the cupboards had experienced some wear and tear. A lot of progress was made in this video and the after was much more organised and decluttered than the before. They achieved a lot in a short space of time and should be congratulated.

Good job. One thing I would do is to put tea towels and potholders in a basket and in the cupboard with Tupperware/appliances (since it’s best to the stove), or you could hang couple potholders on hooks on inner side of cabinet door and then use the empty to drawer to hold the overflow utensils from the basket on the counter.

Then she could use that shelf for the things in her "junk" basket, although it looked like she might need a smaller basket to fit the cabinet. The kitchen tools in the other basket in the corner could go in a smaller basket in the cabinet above, next to the spices maybe? That cabinet looked deep enough. It looks so much better. I think a lazy susan would work good for that skinny spice cupboard. Even though there are switches in the cabinet over the oven I still used that space for things I don't use often like vases or she could put her tool bag there. Also so much more room in the tupperware cabinet she could fit some more items from her counter she doesn't use as frequently. It's tough with just two drawers. I love having a crock as well to keep the most used larger utensils. Chelsea is so cute with her pink sweater ! 🐶

Dear Carla, love your Videos. You are always so encouraging and non judgemental. Congratulations on 100.000 subscribers. Just a few ideas to this video. Maybe you two could use some space more functional and create a real junk drawer, so you can hide more. For example the tin foil etc take so much space. Store them in the same cupboard like the Tupperware. The towels near the sink, the potholders with pots and pans. (I could’t see any, but I’m sure she has got a few. So you can use the drawer for daily used items of the „junk container“. The free cupboard can be used to hide and protect the cookbooks. And the „just in case“ things from the box can go to in the back behind the spices. Just a few ideas to optimize the space in the future. Hope this comment does‘nt Sound unkind. Greetings from Germany.

Suggestion for the countertop tool bin: Put the pot holders and towels in the cabinet below the recipe books. You can consolidate/stagger appliances under there and add in a clear plastic tall, narrow bin for linens/pot holders. A magnetic rack on fridge can be a towel holder also. Get a drawer divider system and make a tool / misc drawer. Much easier to organize and find things. And clears more counter.

Then one cabinet has my measuring cups which are 1 cup or less hanging from hooks. And I have another cabinet door that also has hooks, which is where I hang my pot holders. I have decluttered a lot of my gadgets if I had something else that worked just as well. My new thing I'm trying to do is only buying products that have multiple purposes. Plus realizing that these stores have researched what type of music, smells, lighting, layout etc. etc. to get us into buying things we don't really need. Those things will never make any of us happy, the goal post just keeps moving. We all just want more stuff or newer stuff or different stuff so we have to stop buying.

I love a good well placed hook. I added a couple to my shelving unit in my kitchen. I hang my measuring spoons on one and my measuring cups on the other. Makes a huge difference! Great tip!

Carla, I would love to be able to help you further with your decluttering projects. I am a born organized person and owned a decluttering/organizing business as well. These are the tips I would like to share that were helpful to me. Whatever area you are working in find one designated spot to place the items on and declutter. Could be a sheet on the floor, a table top, counter, a fold away card table, whatever. Take one space at a time. You and the client pull everything out from one area, a shelf, a cabinet or drawer. If there are 20 mugs for example on a shelf, before going through them, ask the client of they are willing to go down to 10. They'll let you know what number they are comfortable with. As you begin to go through each one ask them to first pull out their absolute favorites - the non-negotiables - hopefully you'll get to the ten. Then when they pick up the eleventh one ask if they like that one more than one of the other ten and if they are willing to swap it out. Let them know they cannot keep more than the space can hold. Immediately box up the remaining mugs they are willing to let go of. Whoever is removing items from the next space have the other clean the spot where the mugs will be going back to. As you return the mugs give them a quick wipe down as well. You have now completed one task. If time doesn't allow for anything more than you have not created a bigger mess. The worst is being overwhelmed with too much and just shuffling one item from one space to another. Handling an item twice rather than multiple times is way easier. It keeps you focused on the task on hand not the thousand more things you have to do. Also, when you have multiple items, such as hand or dish soap, look to see if you could pour one into the other container. People buy multiple's because they can't find the ones they already have. Declutter on area or space first, clean it second, organize third. I hope that was helpful.

I love all the different sections. I am mug person too, but I have cut down to just 6 or 7, ha ha ha! It’s hard to deal with itsy-bitsy items, to use them and put them away. You did a great job with them. True system is great. Easy to use. Like with like! Great job!😅❤🎉

Another great kitchen clean-up/organization! I wonder if she'll put rolls of wax paper etc into a drawer? I'd love to know if she gets a container or two for under the sink. The tweaking is always interesting. Thanks, Carla. I'm in Atlanta, with relatives in these southeastern states. I needed something to give my mind a break from the devastation that's so heartbreaking.😊😊

I loved watching Carla fly through decluttering & organizing under the sink! That was great - but I could never put all that stuff back in a dirty space like that! I would have had to wipe it out - but to each their own! As always - I'm sure Stephanie felt so much better coming into her kitchen the next morning after a nights sleep when she may have even forgotten for a moment that you guys did this amazing reorg or her kitchen! I bet that felt great!

I'm surprised by all the ridiculous and judgmental comments about the cupboards. They are not dirty. Those black cupboards show energy single finger print. She's a renter. She didn't choose the color. I'm sure Carla's filming lights just exacerbated the issue.

People would be saying the same things about white particle board. White and black show the most dirt

Using a lazy Susan or a few risers might help with some of the cupboards. And I am concerned she does not seem to have enough emergency food/water for even one week! Earthquakes do happen there (I lived through several.) Even if she has to, she can store canned food and water under her bed or in a closet. Just my 2 cents. ❤

Pretty much the only "tupperware" I have is those round Ziplock clear containers with blue lids. I love that the lids fit both the short and tall containers. I got rid of everything else so I don't have all these odd-shaped containers and lids that don't match. I used all my containers without lids as drawer organizers around the house. The Ziplock containers seem to last pretty well, they can go in the freezer and dishwasher, and the lids lock on tightly so you can use them for soup or liquids, too. It's also easier to keep the drawer organized when you don't have all different shapes and sizes.

Tremendous improvement! The lack of drawer space is challenging. Hence the “junk” cabinet that she had. You have to get creative…I like her Tupperware drawer/tray. The counterspace has the illusion of lower storage that doesn’t exist. Nice job with existing configuration.
