Even though Doutzen is a well-known model and actress, she's very down to earth. She is someone you can actually have a conversation with about life (family, work, one's self, etc.) You can feel it and see it that her videos are not staged but REAL from REAL PEOPLE. I've been using the Konmari method for roughly five years (going through an annual cleaning every spring/summer), but I've noticed that none of my cleanings have been as dramatic as my first. I really learned to apply the Konmari method to my life and lifestyle and make sure to only buy things when necessary or when they spark joy, which has given me so much headspace. Really recommend this for anyone who hasn't tried it yet! We often own more stuff than we think :)
@@MultiCombo1 Not at all! My sister says that too actually, but it doesn't work for me since I have a terrible memory hahaha. But it's totally a valid way of thinking! Especially when you buy things you already have or already have good substitutes for. My parents do this a lot too. The amount of kitchen appliances they have bought twice or even three times. It's crazy.
I love that she had compassion to acknowledge the elephant in the room. That many people would wish to have clothing. It’s really not a problem at all , it is in a sense a desire to organise and I honestly think it’s best to buy less and be extremely mindful when purchasing clothing. Only buy what you love and you’ll never need to create waste.

I'm watching this as laughing so hard 🤣 my husband loves 💕to declutter....but all the time!!! I mean I may be away for a few days and I come home to an empty pantry - no food - he's given it all away, the fridges are empty too, he just gives away all his wardrobe and doesn't care if he has 2 t-shirts. Umm, he's done that with my clothes too...I sometimes remember things he's given away that I forgot all about 😳😩 but you are right; its a luxury problem to be able to get rid of our good clothes and ensure that those who don't have anything to wear it. After 20 years I am now used to not being attached to clothes or items anymore, no matter how expensive because someone else really appreciates it more than I did. I actually love old second-hand clothes, and my mum started this when she bought a dress made in 1960. I now have a few old items that I enjoy wearing. Country towns have the best second-hand clothing. and OMG 😮 Sunnery!!! I've never owned that many shoes in my entire life 😂🤣 but just think how many people you made happy that they've got awesome shoes to wear 👍✌🏻

I periodically clean my closet and gift what I don’t want or wear anymore to people who is in need: I usually donate it to churchs so that they can help people who go there to find things they cannot afford. After I saw this video, I decided that my 2020 resolution is to not buy new clothes/shoes/bags/make up since I have to use and finish what I already have! This will be inspiring yet though for me, I know, but I can do it! Thank you babe, such an iconic inspiration 😍❤️💪🏻
Great to see a topmodel go for sustainability! Recycling is a must, but refusing and reducing new items would be best. There is absolutely no need for more clothes to be produced. Let's try to do a shop stop (for a month or a week to start with!)

Ik vind deze korte episode echt mooi want het is heel herkenbaar. Ondanks dat ik niet zoveel kleding heb als doutzen is het gevoel precies hetzelfde wanneer je opruimt en wanneer je kleding hebt die je nooit draagt of zelfs nooit gedragen hebt!
Prachtig Doutzen dat Hollands er tussen door. Iedereen gaat door zijn kasten heen nu haha! Maar vaak is het wel nodig, want meestal draag je dezelfde aantal kleren over en over again. Je kast ziet er nu prima uit! Dank voor je video.

It's important that we think before we buy a clothing-piece, because we don't need a lot of clothes, but just clothes that we can wear year in year out.

I rarely shop anymore but when I do I invest in quality pieces that I can wear for years - however, I declutter my closet at least once every three months and I always end up lots of bags full of clothes to donate. It's like even when we declutter we still keep a lot of things 'just in case' and three months later we realise that it wasn't worth keeping. I wish more rich people had your mentality tbh, hoarding things when there are so many people that don't have any is selfish.
Hi Doutzen! I did exactly the same thing recently, but with less very less clothes 😁 I donated them. You're right saying "cleaning closet is cleaning mind". It's really good. I do not buy like I used to do. I just want to have things I'm sure I wear, in which I feel well and that last for years😃

Happy New Year! I declutter my closet every September. I give away my kids’ clothes which are practically as new to church charity organisations. I also give away some of my clothes that no longer fit me but are as new. It is a healthy habit. This way you can enjoy the clothes you keep, maybe have some altered. It is a must for kids clothes and shoes! ❤️👏🏻
