I just rehomed 5 huge boxes of clothes from my hyperconsumerist past and it was mentally exhausting but I feel so incredibly refreshed now! Now the aim is to continually declutter and change my shopping habits so I don't just recollect things. 😉

I loved this☺️ The sourdough bread dress bit made me chuckle, I love it haha! I just did a wardrobe sweep about a week ago and it felt so good, but I honestly think I could do another sweep or two! I like your three sweep method, totally makes sense. Love your videos, they inspire me!😊

I love your channel! I did your 3 sweep technique this past weekend in my closet. We got rid of 4 trash bags of clothes! Such an amazing feeling. I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one with emotional attachment to my clothes! My mom-in-law told me a shirt made my eyes look blue, but it’s a shirt I haven’t really worn much since. Love your videos, gives me much needed encouragement for my own decluttering.

It took me like 4 years to declutter my closet fully. I now rotate 18 items for fall winter. I don’t remember how many for spring/summer BUT I do know I went from like 10 rompers to 1 lol. So yeah it still amazes me how small my wardrobe is now. And I’m so happier

55 items is crazy. My closet is well over 200 pieces. I love the idea of minimalism but can’t bring myself to get rid of that many things. I am for sure a what if I need it some day person.

You are such a sweetie. I love that you seem to be yourself rather than RU-vid typical...if you get what I mean. We all like different styles I know. I enjoy less 'scripted' content. Your decluttering was fun! It's a goal of mine to have my wardrobe full of clothes that fit and that I LOVE. At present I have around 50 dresses ranging in sizes. Once a size becomes too big, out they go! Thanks again!

So happy to see you fixed your closet door, my friend! 😋 I will always love your declutters and specifically your closet declutters. I love a chatty declutter that is simple and effective. This one was particularly ruthless which gave me so much motivation! I am a minimalist and I struggle to declutter the last 5-10% of my wardrobe that just isn’t working for me anymore but I hold onto it for sentimental attachment or to fulfill my fantasy self of a simple neutral minimalist, even though it doesn’t work for me.

Always love a good decluttering closet video! I have recently been trying my own version of a 10 item wardrobe (can have more than 10 but includes core pieces only for each season - no loungewear/fitness; layering pieces etc - these are all “extras”) our weather can span 45 degrees in a day currently so I’ve adapted it to fit with more layering pieces than someone with consistent weather but I’m loving that everything is an option and yet so simple!)

Yay, love hearing that! It's a constant process for me. I probably won't ever have a large closet again, but with 3 sisters and finally unpacking every last baseball box, I was ready to get down to the nitty gritty of my fav pieces. Can't wait to further it!

55 items, me too! I actually have 52 and I have 3 specific items I'm looking for. My total also includes jackets and shoes! What it doesn't include is unmentionables, PJs, project clothes, or jewelry. My "magic" numbers seems to be 3 and 6. I have 3 of each kind of bottom; casual pants, dress pants, shorts, skirts, 3 dresses. And I have 6 of each kind of top; short sleeve shirts, long sleeve, dressy blouses, 4 jackets + 2 hoodies.

I loved this video. I thought your 3 sweeps approach qas so easy and simple. Allowing yourself 3xs to pass through and talk stuff out. I need to do another pass through closet for sure. I recently lost a bunch of weight from some healthy lifestyle decisions and that seriously helped me whittle my closet down. I have not completely replaced things which is good in my opinion bc I want to be very intentional about what I chose. I am planning on getting my colors done so I can truly chose the best colors for me. This investment makes sense to me bc I want to only bring items in that I will really use and love.imited wardrobe budget means one has to be selective. So thank you Margaret for yhr 3 Sweeps! I’ve just moved, and have been living out of a hand luggage sided amount of stuff for the last month. I have two totes of clothes in storage and I honestly don’t think I will reintroduce much of what is there, as I’m pursuing a capsule wardrobe too. I’m only bringing back actual pieces that I miss (like one pair of jeans). Moving is a great way to realise that you need waaaaaaaaaayyyy less than you need! Keep what you have in boxes and only “shop” your clothes for specific pieces when you miss them

I'm so excited to watch this! I just binged a bunch of your videos last week - the closet declutter from 4 months ago inspired my own and I got rid of 184+ items! Clearly not a minimalist..yet. But it was so rejuvenating to see and enjoy the empty pockets of space in the closet now and I want to do it more and more! I'm hoping to hit the whole house with a new mindset, and you made starting at the closet super approachable and motivating.💪 Thanks for your great videos! If you have stains or oil stains in shirt or clothes. Use lestoil. Pour a little on it and let it sit 10 min before you put in the washer and the stains are gone specially the oil stains. Love that stuff.

I have a pair of biker shorts. NO freeking way would I wear them on their own (on the lower half). However they are great to use under a skirt in summer to prevent chafing or when it’s windy to prevent people seeing undies due to an errant wind blowing the skirt/dress up.

Help me out with this. My wedding dress. My husband and I got married 7 years ago. We are renewing our vows this year and I got another dress that I LOVE and was more the style I was looking for but I also really love my first dress. But I'll NEVER wear it again and I have 3 boys. I doubt if this baby is a girl that she would ever want to wear my dress but, I feel like it's something we do as moms when we have a girl. Should I get rid of it? It's taking up so much space. I feel like I just answered my own question but I also feel like I HAVE to hold onto it. It's still in its dress bag. What did you do with your dress?

With age, the shopping addiction has turned into shopping hatred. Might need therapy. I now find a tank top i love in black. Buy 15. Don't buy tank tops for 10 years when they all have holes. Lol. Same process for everything i wear.

I bought men’s lululemon athletic shorts, they have a nice high waist, and the length is excellent, kind of mid thigh and I have very short legs. I find the women’s shorts are too cheeky.

What pops out from your declutter is that you probably have an uniform made of not-too-tight trousers (jeans or shorts), a simple clean top and a hoodie. It's super nice to recognize our individual uniform, because it makes better understand our own style and it will help in the future choices

Cheap clothing is not necessarily great just because they are so cheap ( sometimes if a person is very poor I understand it is necessary) please watch the documentary ‘The True Cost’….especially if you ‘go to church’ ( assuming you care about other humans and don’t want to contribute to make their lives worse.)

Genuine question, you really only kept 1 pair of exercise shorts and two tops? Are you doing laundry so frequently that you can make that work? This seems beyond minimal, it barely seems sustainable 😳

I also have lots of leggins and t shirts that I use to workout in too. But these are my summer workout essentials. If they are dirty, I wear my jean shorts or leggings with a t! It works for me
