Thanks for the video Sarah ! As you mentioned, you always have to receive wefax in USB mode to have black lines on a white background. Also the receiver has to be tuned 1.9 kHz below the listed frequency for the correct tones. So in your case it was Boston , MA listed frequency 4235 kHz. So you tune your radio or SDR in this case to 4233.1 kHz USB. Then the black tone will be at 1500 Hz and white tone at 2300 Hz, centre of the signal is 1900 Hz in Fldigi. GL and success ! 73, Patrick
Very good explanation. I have known about these for awhile, as well as VHF NOAA sat downlinks, for weather. It never hurts to have another video out there as it is a fun project coupled with useful information. 73 de KE8MQH of Cleveland.
Thank you, yes the YouLoop can be found here: www.ebay.com/itm/274398804823?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338814417&customid=&toolid=20012&mkevt=1 There are many clones but this is the official one from rtl-sdr.com
@@SignalsEverywhere You can also easily build one yourself. For the balun I used a bigger core than that on the commercial version: BN73-202 with two 5-turn windings. Quite easy to make using 30AWG wire-wrap wire instead of magnet wire. I made a larger version to fit around a window-frame and hide behind the curtains. Works well for an internal antenna. It is a version of the Moebius Loop antenna.
Thanks fors the great video sweetie. I'm missing out on all this cool digital stuff. My ham shack is mostly tube gear time for me to get a computer looking forward to the next video. Take care girl de Kb0oqj
Thank you :) I honestly had a hard time on this one, in an apartment at the moment and this signal wasn't easy to pick up. Wish I had my outdoor dipole. Actually considering setting up some remote sites.
@@SignalsEverywhere sorry sweetie I understand that. I was in an apartment for a time and it is not fun . Remote ham radio sounds like a great video idea. Your doing great keep being you and keep smiling 😃
I love the aesthetic of those faxes! Do you know any Macintosh software for decoding? My Mac is much newer and nicer than my pc so I’m trying to figure out what’s possible on it
Funny, i stumbled across your channel by your old videos recently, and your new voice is a nice upgrade. It took me a few years to get my voice reigned in during my gender transition. Used a tone generator to help actually, i'd try to match it. Practiced a few times a day and god did it help. Anyway, cool channel.
@@SignalsEverywhere Im on airband I can't really discribe the sound I'm on 131.800mhz and there is this sound that sounds like a mix of a police radio and a pocsag type sound
