There is an exhibition going on in one of our museums here. It`s about decollage artists from France. They started this way in the 50th going around in Paris and de collage advertising poster. I got inspired to do a bit of decollaging. Hope you like it.

These cards are gorgeous! They looked good unmatted, too. Décollage is one of my favorite techniques, but I haven't heard of this group. Something to check now :-) Lucky you, to be able to visit that exhibit... Hugs, Ildiko

You made great cards. I hadn't heard of this before, but I did Google it and it's a very interesting technique. I have done the gluing down then ripping off paper for some background texture but never anything to this extreme. It looks good.xx

How interesting - there is always something to learn;) thank you for sharing this technique. Your cards are awesome, as always. The drips on the one remind me of my experiments with embossed drippage (glycerin and embossing powder).

Thank you Meri. Yes I remember your little experiment very well, one reason I went for the hot glue gun.

It is always refreshing to hear someone who creates art talk about art. I was aware of this movement. You should try a Dada style piece. With your humor, I bet it would be marvelous!!
@AndreaKidman
@AndreaKidman 7 лет назад
Thank you. I think with some stuff I make it might be a form of Dadaism, not taking myself and art to serious. The time when this movement started was so full of ignorance and social convention that it had to happen. And it was good, not that I agree with everything they did, even though it was meant to be overdone, but it brought us where we are today. We are free to bring all our emotions, thoughts and statements onto paper, canvas or a sculpture. So everything is possible.......but still, when you want to be successful, as in earning money, you have to howl with the wolfs (do you say that in english?), people still listen more to "experts" who are telling them what`s art and what`s not instead of buying what they really like because of there fear of being seen as an art idiot, nothing`s changed there. But I`m happy with what I do and it`s a of fun to meet a lot of like minded people (not only virtual, I met some of them in real life and made good friends).

Andrea, in watching your videos, one thing I noticed right off the bat is that you create your art from your own perspective. Sadly, most of the RU-vidrs I see follow what they have seen others doing, Not only is their approach a copy of what others have done, oftentimes the products they use are the same. But, that is not what you do, Your creation process comes from within, not from without. For me, that is what a true artists does.
@AndreaKidman
@AndreaKidman 7 лет назад
Yes, it`s true, sadly. I get frequently asked what product I used. I only show or point out what I use when I think it`s important for that kind of technique. Other than that it`s all up to your creativity. But there are some smaller channels out there with people brave enough to do there own thing and I enjoy watching them.

@@southernbiscuits1275 Hi ! Maybe you’re right, but there are certainly ( predominantly ) young interested people, eager to learn techniques from artists, to know what they need to start their own creations without wasting a lot of time in looking for important and helpful products, advice, etc … I’m 78, and always appreciated good advice, and learning from real artists without wanting to imitate them.

Hi. Thanks for your video. I'm intrigued by the little screens you print/stamp the white on with. Are those screens you've bought or are they found items you repurposed? Is it paint that you are using to get the textures from the screens or ink?
@AndreaKidman
@AndreaKidman 3 года назад
Hi Jean, the "screens" I think you mean are just objects I find, can´t say where I found the metal one (DIY probably) but the other cream coloured one was a 12x12 scrap book paper I bought ages ago in a craft store and I use just white Gesso as the medium. Thanks for watching.

Thank you Linda. I mainly use Amsterdam acrylics and here I thinned them down with water to get a light wash because I wanted the background to show through.

I have not heard of decollage artists from France. The work looks interesting and yours are very nice. How is your leg coming along?
@AndreaKidman
@AndreaKidman 9 лет назад
Thank you. This group is not very well known outside France. I`m living in this wonderful part of Germany, called the three country corner, where the borders of Switzerland and France are only a short walk away, so we are very much influenced by them.
@scobbydotwo
@scobbydotwo 9 лет назад
Andrea Kidman I looked it up and it really is interesting. Isn't it nice to live so close to Switzerland and France? I live in the South of the United States and the closet country is Cuba and I won't be going there anytime soon. lol
@AndreaKidman
@AndreaKidman 9 лет назад
It is really nice. We have an awful lot of museums here and there is always a culture event going on somewhere. But Cuba doesn't sound that bad. Great weather, fantastic beaches, nice drinks, great music. Haven't been there but that's what people tell me when there had a holiday over there.
@scobbydotwo
@scobbydotwo 9 лет назад
Andrea Kidman We have not been allowed, in this country, to go to Cuba. Some people fly to Canada and go. No planes from the United States go to Cuba. Our country has nothing to do with Cuba. There has been an embargo on Cuba for many years now. I think, we are the only country that has nothing to do with Cuba. Crazy as it sounds. We have had nothing to do with Cuba since President Kennedy and The Bay Of Pigs.
