FIAT/IFTA World Conference, 2023
Speakers: Murielle Sandra Tiako Djomatchoua (Princeton University)
--
Tiako Djomatchoua Murielle Sandra is a Ph.D. student in French and Francophone Studies at Princeton University.
Born and raised in traditional Cameroonian community, her worldview is shaped by oral traditions and cultural expressions. These influences inform her scholarly interests and research activities. A 2023 Frame fellow at the National Audiovisual Institute (INA) in France, her project focuses on international/colonial exhibitions in Paris in order to reconstruct the vestiges of Central African memory and heritage.
Bridging television audio-visual archives with museum archives, Tiako Djomatchoua plans to investigate the trajectories and the social life of the African objects exhibited, destroyed, and some preserved museum’s collections in Europe.
For her data fellowship, Tiako Djomatchoua Murielle Sandra plans to propose a cataloging model of material cultures that could help reconstruct the archeology of female history, power, agency, and sovereignty within traditional communities in pre/colonial Congo.
