Most importantly though, your girls think you are the best mom ever. They see how intentional you are and all the effort you put in to make the holiday season so special ❤I also want to add that I was raised by a single mama. Money was always tight but her love and effort was more than we could ever ask for. Today, as I was baking my mom’s Christmas cookie recipes with my 2 year old, we were jamming to the Christmas music my mom always played. My point is, I don’t remember the decorations my mom put up but I will always remember the recipes and the music❤

I LOVE your home. It’s not what I call a “hobby lobby” home. It’s got tons of personality and history. I’d rather see a home filled with stuff from the past then the junk that’s being produced nowadays. Give yourself grace and know we love you and your family. Time spent with your babies is far more important than impressing anyone else. You’ll blink and they’ll be all grown up.

Im 73 and it warms my heart to see a young lady love her new home. Honey, I had a huge 5000 sq ft home that took me 7 years to decorate. So take your time and only get what you love. When decorating it gets really messy until you’re done. Dont strive fir perfection, enjoy the journey.❤️

I promise you way more of your viewers can relate to you by purchasing what they can afford as can relate to the RU-vid channels that will drop tons of money on the name brand current trend items without blinking an eye. One of the main reasons I like watching your channel is because you spend the time finding all of your decor and household items that they make them little treasures to you, your family, and your viewers. You will value an item that you thrift way more than others that can afford to buy high ticket items every year. Your thrifts items are unique and often one of a kind making your decor that much more interesting and fun to watch. Thank you for keeping it real. You have your priorities where they should be, your family. My kids are both seniors. They don't remember all the "stuff" surrounding Christmas. They remember baking cookies, going caroling, looking at Christmas lights, and cuddling together watching holiday specials. The time we spent making memories was way more precious than money spent.

Your home has such a feeling of warmth and comfort because you have that. My husband has collected discarded furniture, dishes everything you can imagine. He’s fixed things up to make our home feel like an old 1930 farm home. He says when he finds something discarded he imagines how the original owner felt when they bought it new. How happy they were. He says he is taking care of these items he’s refurbished for the people that are no longer alive who once owned them. Modern homes do not have the feel that your’s and mine have. Please don’t measure yourself by someone else’s yard stick. Your warmth and light heartedness inspire me every time I watch you. Thank you for that.

Kristen I am 65 years old and what you do is what many women through the years have wanted to do. Live a happy life on a budget to stay home with her children, and still find cute things for them to wear. To be able to make good choices with their food for them to eat. To allow them to run and play and have their mom there for their needs. My kids are grown now and my husband has passed. I was a pastors daughter and we never owned a home, it was the churches. When I got married my husband and I lived very simply even tho he made a really good living. I've always shopped sales, yard sales, & side of the road. It doesn't matter what type of home or furnishings we have. We just need to be welcoming to share a bowl of soup or a iced tea with someone. Lately my kids have reminded me what a cozy warm home they always remembered. That's all that matters. A peaceful clean home where Christ is the head.

My children were very young, I was pregnant, with my second when my husband died. The Lord was there to walk through it with me. Yard sales and thrift stores were my go to. I cut back on watching many videos on “decorate with me” because I found myself overspending needlessly when I already have so much. It’s really hard to keep up with the trends. You find really great things by thrifting and your house looks fabulous. Spending time with your girls, hubby and Buddy are so important. You’re a child of God and are Blessed. You’re followers love you because you’re unique and have a great personality. Antiques, vintage, thrifting is fine. A lot of people like your style.Try not to put yourself down. There is nothing wrong with what you are doing, your home is lovely. I love the fact that you decorate your home with thrift finds, I do the same thing. You and your family are very busy in ministry, plus you just went through the lost of your fur baby. Take the time to enjoy your family and make the memories that you will cherish down the road. Let's face it, no one wants perfection. We want true connection with others and that only comes from being real and vulnerable. I think accepting where we are in life is always a struggle but when we can ease into our particular stage of life a weight can be lifted from our shoulders. My sister bought me a gratitude journal a couple of years ago and it really has changed things for me. I started expressing more appreciation to my husband for all he does for our family. It has increased love in our home. Just know you are exactly the mom your girls need, no need for perfection. That is a lie to rob us of joy. 💕

I have surrounded myself with things I love in my home, I have collected old vintage things since I was 11, at 62 I still love old and vintage. If you love what you have, embrace it, I have had people my whole life make opinions about my place, but most say it is just perfectly me, warm, cozy and inviting. Please be kind to yourself, your place is darling, sweet and inviting.

Hi Kristen, thank you for sharing your thoughts with us! I think it is absolutely the enemy trying to steal your joy with those thoughts and feelings of discontentment. I often get these feelings once in a while too and feel that none of my things go together and start to find it hard to enjoy the things I do have. Sometimes I need to take a break from watching RU-vid videos or looking at Pinterest when I start to feel this way and redirect my energy into something else. It almost always helps! I’m also sure your girls don’t see anything except the beautiful and lovely home their mom decorated and made festive for the season. Stay positive, you are lovely and so is your home! No no no! Stop the comparison…stop measuring yourself by other people. Your home is beautiful, and your collection of one of a kind items is stunning. Anyone can go to Hobby Lobby, Home Store, etc and buy a bunch of matchy matchy junk. I know when your daughters are adults they will remember their warm and loving holidays and what you created for them, and that is a special gift you are giving to them. Kristen, growing up with a single mom, I always felt that we had the best of everything when we literally had very little. My mom would clean houses for others to make ends meet and once at the holidays those people would give handed down clothing and toys to mom. She would sneak them home and make them “new” again by mending, cleaning, changing and whatever else she could do. We kids were always so excited at Christmas for the dolls with full wardrobes lovingly sewn by her tired hands. She even used our worn out socks to make tiny little doll socks. They had brown felt shoes and slips under their dresses. Thrift store wood crates became doll closets with cardboard dividers for different things. And then each little closet was covered with fabric cut from old sheets so they had a curtain around them and were used as our night stands. You shouldn’t feel “not good enough” for RU-vid. It’s your channel and others like yours that bring memories and joy. I don’t have my mom anymore but have my own family including 6 grandchildren who I get to create things for. I’ve been happily married for 38 years, have decorated my entire home with thrifted finds my entire marriage because my mom taught me and my siblings to cherish things that have a history. Never feel you need to apologize to anyone for caring about how your home is decorated. It’s better to appreciate and use things that some call trash….I call those things treasures. You are teaching your children that God and family are most important and that’s as it should be. Much love and blessing to you and your family.

But some videos get to be the cookie cutter style like everyone else. Your style is unique and you put the work in finding all the pieces that bring you joy. It is far more impressive to take thriftier items, hand me downs and frugal purchases and make them look beautiful. You have a God given talent for decor. I much prefer a home that has character from found objects and gifted treasures. Anyone can walk into a store and pick all the goodies they want but a true creative person takes time to cultivate their style...and this is what you have done. Hey Kristen your home is beautiful. I’m 64 years old and it took me awhile to figure out that there will always be someone who does things better than me. I can learn from them. There will always be someone who doesn’t do things bad well as I do. I can teach them. Having things handed down to you is special. The person that passed it down to you could have sold it but chose to give it to you. Roadside finds are the absolute best! I sure which when I was younger I would have thought about buying second hand. Look at all of the treasures you find. Those treasures make your home yours. Unique like you. I love “your mom’s” tree. I want that 😂 I like how you incorporated your girls into decorating the tree. I watch many RU-vid videos and the kids aren’t included in the tree decorating. How will those children have any memories of decorating the tree? I was kind of that mom. my 45 year old son talks about how we didn’t ever have a normal tree that it always had to have a theme. So keep making those memories. Also unless you have everything all over when you’re decorating how can you get it right? It can be hard watching all these youtube vloggers with their perfect homes and perfectly matched decor, and I find your channel so refreshing and real. Your house is beautiful, but more importantly I see you prioritizing your husband, children, and the Lord. I love your channel for these reasons. You're honest. You're real. Honestly, I just don't care to compare myself with trends on IG or Pinterest. I also don't go by the beat of other people's drum per say and get caught up with the materialism of Christmas. I care more about substantial matters like helping the destitute and helping stop the abuse of children and women. You’re an inspiration to we who decorate with what we have and don’t try to replicate Pinterest, slick magazine spreads or current trends. I really like how you use “normal”, non-Christmas specific items as decorations: red and green books, white and red quilts, red candles, etc. That’s very clever and beautiful! I’m a single mom of six , who bought my first house since my divorce and everything I own is used, thrifted and yes taken from the side of the road. I even bought a repoed house! And I might not have new stuff, but I love everything I have! Your house is gorgeous and so is your decorating! Don’t be hard on yourself! This is real life! And that’s why I watch you!

When I was your age I had four children under six years. My home always had laundry baskets of clean or dirty clothes! Laundry was never ending. You are in the season of life where nurturing your children and giving them happy memories of Christmas are far more important than comparing your home to others. Remember comparing is always the basis of inferiority. So don't compare. You have a lovely home. Enjoy all the things you have that make it your special nest! By the way, I'm 74 years old and I lived through it! They were the best times of my life.

Kristen, the reason I watch your channel is because your design is not “store shelf ready.” Your home and design has character of past, present and future. A new home has beauty but that’s all. It has pretty decor but it’s the same you see in everyone else’s home. Celebrate what God has given you.

In this world of consumerism and and avarice, I find your approach to life, family and home keeping to be inspirational and a lesson to us all. My house is almost all thrifted and sometimes I look at it and feel the same way--nothing matches and its just a jumble. But those feelings are just that little devil on your shoulder whispering negativity. Step back and really look at your house and family. It's all beautiful and a reflection of you and your values. I too thrift and everything in my home is also thrifted and second hand. We are so blessed to have a beautiful family, a safe and stunning homes, and most importantly health. Your video has an old world charm and makes me feel nostalgic for the christmases I experienced as a little girl. we were a family of twelve all together and money was tight , but they to this day are still my favourite Christmas memories because of the effort my mother put into making that season special with what she had at hand to trans form the atmosphere in the house from it’s everyday appearance to one of anticipation for a couple of special days . What made those days special certainly wasn’t expensive decoration. It was doing seasonal things together , Christmas music playing , the smell of Christmas baking like shortbread cookies and mincemeat pie that only made at that time of year . Nothing makes me smile more than watching people open gifts from our three youngest brothers (all under five years old ) because hose gifts were actually things they had “shopped” from the dresser drawers of a couple of my older sisters that had found jobs.that finally allowed them to purchase anew scarf or broach , which had been wrapped and presented to someone else in the family as their “gift” from the three boys who sat there so excited to see what everyone thought of what they had found for us ! No fancy anything but laughter inventive thinking singing and eating until you couldn’t move . Now that was Christmas !
