Can't wait next week's video. I struggle with having a eclectic taste with a heavy lean towards antique, botanical, and stone, and touch of modern. Another great video! Saw solutions and ideas that I will use...the chalk paint and tile paint especially!
This is the biggest obstacle being electric-I feel you! It was always mine too but don’t worry. If I can refine my style, anyone can 😘 See you next week babe!
The items you curated remind me of all the things my grandmother loves and has collected over time 😊 she's a gardener and has a lot of ceramic intricate urns, rustic wooden furnishings and natural materials like wicker and woven baskets.
Ohmygosh that sounds wonderful, Hannah! I’m starting to get in the garden more and more, but wanted to get to a place with the inside that would free me up to get outside. Love your grandmother story 🤍 she sounds lovely!
Haha kind of our first real one-we did a little the week of our closing but this year we really got into it. Bruised, backaches and scrapes aside it was sooo worth it! 🤗
Yay! You are in your absolute creative element, Christina. You both got so much done in a just week. CS is already a refined, dignified lady, and you make her ever more beautiful. I especially love the painted floor upgrade, bathroom touches and personalised art wall corner. I almost see a faint outline of your future dog Nina sticking her nose in on all your progress. And the magic of The Secret Garden has captivated me since childhood, too. You really are a gal after my own heart. J xx
Awwwwww 🤗❤️ We worked so hard-thank you for noticing! She is coming along nicely. We finally too some time to bask in all the hard work and appreciate it!
Christina your denim sun dress is adorable on you!! Also, I am a huge nature indoors, giant basket, vintage + modern girl too! I think your floors turned out great. I would love to do this technique in my dining room. It seams like an inexpensive and relatively easy way to get a fresh new look. And I have such ugly 12" orangy red tiles with several decades worth of farm dirt cemented to the grout 😬. But I'm afraid the chairs scooting back and forth all the time would just scrape/rub it off "like that"🫰 no matter how many clear coats I put over top and I just don't have the budget currently for some beautiful wood or large format tile. I'm looking forward to next week's video. Sounds really fun!
I think it’s actually quite durable so far. Maybe you can add those plasticky pads or the felt pads under the legs of the chairs? I moved a large metal table with a marble slab on top (it was heavy-I hurt my back and should have recruited Jerry-BUT anyway, it miraculously did not scratch the floor. PS thank you for the compliment on the denim dress! It’s finally warm enough to wear a sundress here!
This is my favorite video yet. What you were able to accomplish is phenomenal, but i really loved seeing what you did without tearing it all apart. My son framed that Andrew Wyeth print, Christinas World, for me years ago. I see you also have the one with the dog on the bed. Another favorite. Your floors and tile really look quite perfect.
Christina, you would laugh if you could see the tiles in my kitchen. The tiles cover the bar sides/ top AND all the countertops and backsplashes, which is problematic for hygienic reasons, but they are also as ugly as sin. The countertop tiles feature select tiles with hot air balloons on them and the bar has fruit and vegetables with the 🍆 front and center! Its so tragically funny. I dont think eggplants had a double meaning back in the 80s when these must have been chosen with care. But I don't want to waste time or money covering them since we will eventually replace all of it anyway. For now I just have to have a good sense of humor and embrace the vibes 😂
Marcia did we talk about his painting “Master Bedroom” in the comments previously? I bought a large print at a flea market in CT. A beautiful work as well! Colors and themes are ❤️
What a fun video! Love to look through your eyes to your own style. Great DIY projects, and nice to see how they transformed the spaces in your home. I see a lot of natural colors and materials, and a lot of great vintage finds. Your black line resonates with me (love the lamp from Zara Home!). I also bring black accents in my home, often a combination of black and white. I like their graphic contrast with neutrals and jewel colors. I thought the dresser in your bathroom was a great find for especially that spot. Nice styling also. I saw the result of your gallery wall on Instagram, turned out very nice. I recognize your style in it. I agree that the best art in your home is art that has some connection with you. The art in my home is mostly from artists I know well. They are not just beautiful (to my taste) but are also an embrace of friendship. Have a lovely week.
That’s so beautiful, Grady. I think it’s very meaningful to have art from friends in your home. Thank you for all your kind words! I’m sitting here on the sofa totally exhausted from the last 10 days! It was all worth it and all this effort made me love our home even more 🤍 Nurture your home and it will nurture you back 🥰
so fun to watch! Already looking forward to next week! Thanks for sharing! Btw, did you paint the tiles in your shower too? I dislike the tiles in my bathrooms but it's not in the budget yet to replace them. xx
Yes Carol! You can use Stix (they make a tile version which we used for the floor too). You need to sand the tile, then apply a couple coats of Stix and then finally the paint. We used White Dove from BM but you can use any color paint-that’s the great thing about Stix. It was really such a good suggestion from our local hardware guy. Keep me posted!! I want to see!
That kitchen faucet tho! We had to tag team it. I don’t know how plumbers do it or how they get in those tight spots. We were saying all along that they definitely earn their money!
You should be so proud. You got a lot accomplished and quite well, I might add. I'm so glad to see someone with that floor lamp from Zara Home. I'm interested in the table lamp, but the site's description was sparse. Is the light dimmable? I adore the minimalistic quality of it, as I need a "barely there" lamp for my side table. And oh yeah, Andrew Wyeth is always a good call! ❤
Hi! It’s not dimmable unfortunately. It has a push button that turns it on and is quite bright. Good for reading for sure. It’s a beautiful lamp and it has presence despite the minimal nature of it-which is a total less is more situation!
