Hi Kayla My vision on the lampshade can be some crystal hanging garland with pendants on the end. to match the ceiling light . Everything turned out great , Continued Success !!

I'm not sure if you are going to place the decks facing that brick wall but if it was me I would turn the desk around letting the brick wall be my background that would be so dope

Yea, we are gonna leave it like this 🥰 That would be ideal but now that we have French doors, the desk would block them from opening! Plus Marcus doesn’t care about looking at the front yard. When the desk was outward facing before he never opened the blinds 🤷🏾‍♀️ lol

Love the reno of the office. But can I suggest you move that beautiful antique desk to the center of the room and turn it around, so you can look out into the yard. The blue prints would look good in black & white framed art work.

Beautiful! I suggest: 1. Turn the desk around so that the brick wall is behind you. 2.The rug under the desk 3. The blueprint as a black and white copy in a nice frame would be a wonderful touch.

I think the desk in the middle of the room would cause problems with the door opening and cords for lamp, etc. I also personally do NOT like facing a window when I’m on a computer. For me it’s just too hard on the eyes no matter how great the furniture arrangement looks.

You have to admire the tenacity of you and hubby with that lampshade do over. The office makeover is very tasteful and the decorations on the bookshelves are impeccable. The lampshade would look fancy with an elaborate tassel at the top and/or bottom. Good job!

Don’t move the desk. The room is too small. I love the views through the French doors- with the stunning doorknobs-from the other rooms! It’s perfectly elegant. At this point you two have tripled the value of this property. WELL DONE ❤

@@YoungLadyBusiness Kayla unfortunately we can’t really appreciate the vintage lamp because of the black cloth covering it. Your eye is automatically drawn there. I too love your styling of the built in. Also, you need a little black on the window side of the room to pull it all together. Completely cover your bench with different styles of pillows with and a throw added in with touches of black throughout the pattern. I hear Marcus not caring about facing the brick wall. It would be nice to get a large rug and center the desk like someone previously said. But as you said, it would hinder the flow of traffic through the room. Black and white blue prints would be a really nice touch. Make sure you use more than one. There’s a company out there where you can send them a picture and they can blow it up as large as you’d like. Another great job Kayla and Marcus. 👍🏾👍🏾

I love it!!!..I now get the black lampshade...the black color helps your eye to travel around the room and not rest in one spot...also the blueprint would be awesome above the desk!! Ok nobody asked but...if you can't get the fabric to work on the lamp I think a cute idea would be to bead it, you can use a black glass on a clear line and attach them. Also it's so nice to have your mom's skills!

You should consider doing an oval or a round shaped rug that’s a little smaller. Just for a pop of color and texture… To allow the floors to shine through… But more than just a runner would offer.

The architectural drawings would be perfect in a black and white. They are beautiful.❤️ in front of the built in seat maybe a small table as a resting place for a drink or snack and I think like your Mom a runner would be perfect . Great work you and Marcus work so well together.

Beautiful office space, I like the idea of the brick wall being behind the desk/desk facing the window. Also remember to protect your flooring with a mat, those rollers on the chair will destroy your floor

Fun fact! your floorplans are on blue paper because that’s originally how they were drawn, that’s where we get the name Blueprints! I wouldn’t change the color for a second. It’s history!

The office turned out Amazing. Trial and error is a great way to learn new skills. 👌 Straight pins would have been a huge help with the lamp shade project. Please ensure that the fabric used is flame retardant as some bulbs can generate enough heat to spark a fire. If Marcus actually works all day at the desk, a mirror on the brick would be a great addition to get a view of the outdoors and break the boredom of the workday. The chair is amazing and looks comfy and scotchgaurd is a great addition.

Fantastic work in the office! I’d put the desk in the middle of the floor facing the yard! Also the blueprints would look great on that empty wall! I think a rug just under the desk to add a cozy spot!! Love the bookcase and the window seating is AMAZING! I would add a few pillows with all the colors to tie in the whole room! Love French doors! I agree with you the curtains don’t work! But overall I love the space! Your entire house is beautiful and so unique to y’all’s taste!!! Enjoy!!!

House design from 1955 when house was built what a treasure to have. The lamp is so adorable, a mesh shade would be adorable. The brick wall could use an image of the plan layout. Maybe place desk opposite the glass double doors

Black frame, keep blueprint blue. Maybe add some pillows with a touch of that blue color. Maybe trimmed in the blue color. I love the blueprint! Can you get clear plexiglass and hang all blueprints on hinge of some sort… that will let it open when needed to see all 3 blueprints. Like a wall book. But clicks to the wall. Does they make sense? 😊 Maybe an oval braided runner! I love this room!!!! 😊💖

By hand??? MOM DID THE DARN THING WITH THAT CHAIR. The room looks very nice. I will add and make two suggestions, though. 1. The desk looks so isolated facing the wall. The room is for the person working there. They should be able to see the room and enjoy the beautiful bay window scenery. 2. I like the little splashes of color the books bring to the room. It doesn't overpower the white-on-white theme. It would be nice to see a rug that was mostly whit/neutral but that had little specks of colors (like the books) in it. The bookshelf really adds some liveliness to the pallet. Oh, and what a treat to have those original blueprints. You could get those professionally framed and matted to ensure they keep well over time. Nobody really does blueprints like those anymore-it's all computer paper. Always job well done. You really have turned this house into a home, Kayla.💕💕

I like how the room turned out even though I still think it's a white box lol, however, the lamp, maybe a black not as dense linen fabric would work better and allow more light. That desk is gorgeous but painting it black with brass rubbed handles would elevate it. You guys always do a great job so job well done! Love the blueprint idea!

It is okay to have three different design styles in one room if you do it tastefully and sometimes more if you have a very Eclectic and/or art-filled home. So, the black goes perfectly, IMO. A mix of modern pairs well with most designs.

The curtains look pale pink on video 🤷🏽‍♀️ You definitely need a 5x5 or 4x4 … or even a round rug. Amazon has great medallion style rugs that would go with the desk and lamp (of which I’m obsessed with, by the way) … that DESK is everything to me. I found one similar and painted it in a metallic pewter color (with crystal knobs, of course 💅🏽) Love it all… the whole house is awesome 💕💕💕

It looks so goooood!!! Your mom's hand stitching is *chefs kiss* If you are going to use Rit dye, be sure to get the one for the correct textile. Using the all-purpose on a synthetic fabric does not take, and you'll need to keep processing it. Having the original Floorplan is so nice!

Perhaps the one that came with the lamp. I would also add a rug with a rubber backing to go under the chair.

Those blueprints are nice..... definitely frame them and put on the blank white brick wall. The walnut frames are sharp..... The blue would be another pop of color......or black and white in the wood frames. Your Mom really did some great sewing.....the curtains (I agree, bleach or dye them would be great) the chair doesn't look hand sewn, Mom did a spectacular job on it........the dest looks great.....the lamp, looks good, maybe add some black ribbon trim? Top, bottom and at each side where it dips? You all did a fabulous job! 😊👍🏻

It would be nice to have a little color for the shade, so it pops with the wall….green, brown. Curtains don’t need to white. A shade darker than the white would be nice.

The room looks fantastic ! Great job. I do think no one wants to look at a wall now when they previously looked out at the widow. I would turn the desk to face the window. At least put a nice mirror on that wall so Marcus will have some kind of view. I do love it.

Im so happy to see another completed project on this channel. The layout of furniture in the room is kind of awarded to me. I think I might be the only one that hates the idea of the desk facing the window 😅. I understand Marcus doesn’t care which way the desk is facing but seems like you would get more use out of the space if the desk was in front of the closet facing the double doors. Then you could add a winged arm chair catacorner in front of the brick wall. It would create more wall space to hang the blueprints of the house.

So glad your mom is going to help with the lampshade. I think it would really be a nice touch if you add clear crystals hanging at the bottom as a fringe. Or you could use a very fine black fringe. Just a thought. Also that would help add the old world touch to the modern black shade I agree with the other changes you mentioned. The room is bright and inviting. It will be a great office for Marcus. Yes, I would frame and the original blueprints and hang them in front of the desk. It will add a nice masculine touch for Marcus and highlight that beautiful desk. No, please leave the blueprints blue. Any other color will take away from the authenticity and natural beauty of them. ❤

I think you guys did a great job with the office. I think you should add some carmel faux leather pillows to the window seat to bring out the beautiful color of the cushion fabric. I also agree with adding the blue prints to the wall over the desk but leave it its original blue color with a black frame. It will look beautiful. The runner in front of the window seat is a great idea. Changing the curtains is a good idea too. Again, I would love to see a pop of carmel added to the space in the curtains (or window shades) as well. And last but not least, the lamp shade is a “no” in my opinion. Hi Kayla! Love the way the office came out. I think your idea with the blueprints is such a unique touch. I’d choose the blueprints that show the exterior of your home in your entryway and then add each of the other blueprints throughout your home in the common areas and maybe in a guest room. I also like just the brick alone so I know it’s a tough decision but go with your gut and it’ll be fine. I think you should bleach the curtains or if you decide to go with a dark color like gray it could really make that area pop. No rug no problem! The floors are beautiful!!!

It's gorgeous!!! Wonderful job! I love the framed blueprints idea. I think it will Pull some of the blue accents out. Also I agree more pillows would be great. Maybe some with black to further carry it around the room.

I also work from home. Having the desk face the window would promote a more conducive work environment. If rotating the desk isn't feasible, I would suggest a mirror to reflect the view. I personally wouldn't want my back to face a large window like that. Other than that, every looks great. You, Marcus, and your mom did a great job on all the DIY projects.

It turned out beautifully! 😍 I agree with a few other comments about moving the desk to the middle of the room...as a focal point! And on a cute area rug. And a bankers desk lamp would look super nice on the desk!

I love your office makeover! It is beautiful! I think you should put some darker candles on the shelf so they will stand out more. I’m sure your mom will do a great job on your lamp,she is very talented and she did a wonderful job on the chair!❤

Hi Kayla, How about a little color to break up all the creamy beige or off-white w/ the bench ? Maybe a set of valances or cover the pillows in a print that complements the pillows or match valences and pillows ? We had a window seat in t he d/r in the house I grew up in and the seating pad was plaid and the valance and rope tieback curtains did NOT match but somehow all the colors worked beautifully together. I think my mom had an interior designer pick it all out. I have the valance and curtains today .My parents sold their house and downsized in to an apt. I think they left the cushion for the new owners. I think that area could use some color. Having the blueprints is awesome and a GREAT idea for decor !!! Love everything you and Marcus have done to make this house your HOME🏡💖

❤Love ❤Love❤ Love ❤the way everything turned out ‼️ Soooo dreamy ❤ Im not gonna lie, I loved the original lamp shade. I was envisioning the desk in the center of the room with the vintagy lamp next to it playfully and floating in the middle of the room BUT The new lamp shade version turned out pretty & moody. LOVE EVERYTHING YOU GUYS ROCK ‼️💯 Edit- yes bleach the curtains as you mom worked hard trimming them ❤ The curtains look perfect ✔️ Yesssss frame the blue prints of your home, THAT will make your office a million times more special ❤🎉

Kayla, you and Marcus did an awesome job! Have you considered replacing the curtains with faux vertical blinds? It will control the natural sunlight and it’ll make the entire room pop! Just a suggestion. The layout of the house would look nice on the brick wall in blue or black and white. Love & Blessings to the both of you.

I love the wall color. It's so creamy and warm. The room came out so nice. I like the black shade, BUT... I highly recommend you use that plaid fabric you bought. I would do at least one pillow and that lamp shade in the plaid fabric. I feel like it would set off the character in the room

First off, hats off to You & Marcus!!! You guys did an awesome job. Since you have the desk facing the wall, I would place a mirror over the desk to help enlarge the room & give a visual entrance. And I definitely agree a runner would look really nice. I love wood floors.

I would float the desk with a really nice rug and also make sure the fabric on the lampshade isn't flammable when the bulb is on!

Looks great! I would add a nice medium size wrought iron filigree piece on the wall over the desk and the floor plan would be awesome in the entry way 🥰.
