I too, have to use a wheel chair, not always, I have a walker as well. I have chronic pain, nerve damage. I can walk, but it is very painful. Sometimes I need the wheelchair to make it through the day, to shop, or to enjoy a day at Disney World. I have been wanting to tape my wheels for a while, I am also thinking about adding battery operated lights, tape them to the spokes of my wheel, and the battery pack to the center. I was concerned duct tape would become gummy and tacking in the heat. Have you had any challenges with that? I do believe Florida's heat and humidity will make it more of an obstacle. I do like this idea.
Hello, if you look at other videos to do with my wheelchair you will see the answers, basically the tape lasted a good amount of time but did go gummy and was then a right pain to remove, since then a painted my wheels. I noticed that there are special bike wheel fairy lights that you can get maybe they would be good for a wheelchair? I no longer need mine and so will hopefully be donating it to a charity soon so someone else can enjoy my handywork. If I was to make a recommendation it would definitely be to not do the tape and take the time to paint, it looks better and lasts longer, there are a few videos abou this on the channel. Oh before you do it I would highly recommend watching the other videos where I review this method it goes sticky very quickly I would much rather recommend painting the chair as you will see in my other videos it is much nicer and longer lasting
Hi thanks, I was wondering about that too... maybe fabric paint? Not really sure to honest. Don't know whether you have watched the updated version but the duct tape really didn't work very well and I ended up painting the wheels as ey have the most stress and then taped the frame.
This is cool. I thought you actually had pink rims until you started doing the other wheel. How have things held up? Has the tape gotten gummy or started peeling up? Thanks
Hello, I really liked the result too but things got very torn and gummy very quickly ( boo hiss) I am hoping to make a catch up video about that and what I plan to do but I have been rather poorly recently, hence the serious lack of videos. Happy new year btw
That's a shame. It was really cute. When you first turned the chair and I saw the pink I thought to myself it was very cool that you were able to buy pink rims. I really thought they were custom rims. I agree that wheelchairs can be boring. I've wondered if the chair can be spray painted? I've thought about it but I'm too afraid to try it. Don't worry about not being 100%! I've got a friend with relapsing/remitting MS and I myself have EDS so I totally get it. Happy New year to you too! Hugs from the US :-)
Amazon 421 contact a local bike shop and they will have all the gear to do it properly, it's not a hard task, just a little bit labor intensive Maybe look up some video's or tutorials on prepping and spray painting. The possibilities are endless:-)
Hello there, I use a wheelchair because I have M.E and I can only walk about 200yrds! This is a big achievement for me however as I used to need a wheelchair to get across a small room!
