This was an extra busy week in and around Sugarwood, our 1790 home in New England's countryside, but I made sure to make time for a few simple pleasures between errands to enjoy life and a few stolen moments of fresh air, fun, and fine living.

Good for Ben getting the log splitter. It will save money and hard work. It looks like a fun piece of machinery. So cute that Willow takes toys outside. 💕 Everything inside and out is lovely. The wicker is so special. Can't wait to see the fabrics used and the new windows!

A gardener I have followed online for around 7 years in the last two years has begun using cardboard layered on the soil with mulch covering it as a weed suppressor. It has worked for her (them) and she has expanded it’s use over their large property.

Oh, be still my heart! I got a glimpse of Good Queen Bess! I adore her so much and the fabrics you are doing on the benches will be so perfect! I also love blue and violet flowers. That is what I am planting this year. I am not crazy about purple in a house, but I love God's beautiful purple. We lost so many plants in December and January. Gardens can be tricky.....beautiful and a pain, too. Linda, I so enjoy your videos and you are such a busy bee with perfect taste in your garden and your home. Send some of your energy my way, please, and kiss Willow for me. Also, thank you for taking us on your trips here and there. It gives me ideas for traveling and viewing beautiful New England!

Thank you for the lettuce tip, I didn't know that, and this afternoon, I stayed away from the crown! I'm so happy you decided to use the strapping instead of the wallpaper for the bottom half of the wall. It really shows off the Tally-ho but gives the formality of wanescotting for the tavern. We love how everything is just looking so magical! I hope you are enjoying (mostly) every moment at Sugarwood. You and Ben are wonderful Stewart's, and both of you are making your marks in the legacy of every property.

Thanks for showing the Acton and the arboretum. I so miss New England springtime and the architecture of the old towns. Happily, I’m headed to Yarmouth, ME in a few days so I can get my fix of lovely little towns, great seafood and a walk in the woods of Maine and restore my balance.

I fix my old wicker with a piece of rubber-coated clothesline that I cut to fit, or to wrap around ...then I wrap it in craft raffia that comes in bundles twisted tightly like wicker. I super glue it, paint it...looks great. Another idea would buy a thrifted cheap wicker style basket, cut piece you need and super glue it to fix hole area. You could paint it before gluing it.

Everything is so beautiful! I learned from a RU-vidr that when making hummingbird food to heat one cup sugar with only one cup of the water then add the other three cups of cold water from the fridge……instantly cooled hummingbird food. I now do it this way every year. I love your channel. 🌺🌸🌹🪴🌿

Your channel is lovely. This will be my new go to!! Tip for the hummingbird nectar - you don’t have to boil water, just get your tap water really hot and add to your sugar, and stir til clear. I make a gallon at a time and store the extra in the fridge.🌻🌻🌻

I once planted Ragosa Rose at our old cottage on the boundary to the forest at the side, I thought the heavily spiked roses would deter the deer, how wrong was I ! the good thing was I NEVER had to prune them

I have a wicker chair almost identical to yours, but smaller, newer and not a rocker. Perfect for my very small bedroom. My little bit of research shows me this style has been made at least since the early 1930s. Mine also needs refurbishing. Thank you for showing me how! Your rockers look beautiful!

We have an old electric log splitter that I love. It's not large, but does really big logs. We've only 3 acres, but being on the sea we get plenty of wind and we can't keep up with the amount of fallen trees we get in the woodland or along the shore. It's fun to use, isn't it! Your Grandparents wicker is gorgeous!

I picked a bouquet of lily of the valley, yesterday at our cabin. My favorite flower!! And, I have a Redbud in my yard (eastern) and I found out you can make jelly from the blossoms. I made some and it is delicious!

Thanks for including us in your thought processes and little excursions out and about. It’s good to wear a mask when sanding old paint, as they commonly contained toxic lead. Had to laugh at the sushi “Avocado Roll.” Here in Los Angeles those are known as “California Roll.”

We are 80 years old and my husband wanted a sit down lawn mower. I did not. I knew it was just going to be more work for me. He has some physical issues. I said let’s have it done. But…. He Really Really Wants that sit down. We went out to just look 👀. But we came home with a sit down. Now… I think what you need to know is that we have very tiny lot. I’m still not happy, but he just loves❤ it. I and that’s why we are still married . In June of 24 it will be 59 years. 😂
