I pretty sure everyone universally agrees with this voice (aside from the fact that it's awsome) is because this is like, the only time King Dedede had actual VA

And to think this was a kirby show. The same kirby masahiro sakurai created. The same kirby that is in nintendo, And the same kirby that battled characters like minecraft steve, sans undertale, ff sephiroth, metal gear solid snake, and other notable nintendo characters.
NaCl777 I expected meta knight to have a deep voice, mainly based upon Smash Bros. Brawl (the first game I ever heard him speak) but I think DeDeDe's voice is pretty great.

So, to summarize the plot: Superstar Warrior King Dedede arrives at Planet Popstar after a long journey through space. Some time after his landing, a giant, spherical monster called Kirby begins vacuuming large numbers of native sheep into its mouth. Two nearby residents, Tiff and Tuff, come to the conclusion that King Dedede displaced Kirby as Popstar's cherished hero, transforming the once-small-and-amiable being into its current state. Despite Dedede and his servant Escargoon's attempts to play up Kirby as a beast to be thwarted, Tiff reveals the truth to Kirby, who then rampages through Dedede's castle home in a rage, eventually endangering the lives of even the residents. Dedede and Escargoon continue to belay challenging Kirby in favor of flattering each other until Kirby breathes fire at King Dedede, who inhales the flames on the advice of Escargoon. Dedede's body assimilates the flames and gives him fiery abilities--a power dubbed "Fire Dedede" by Meta Knight. Fire Dedede and Kirby's powers are evenly matched until the Warp Star--King Dedede's aerial transportation device--arrives and carries Dedede in a full-throttle assault. The details after the resulting crash are unclear, but it appears that Kirby survived the collision and possibly returned to his normal self while King Dedede burned out. End of episode one.

Appearently 4kids used the actor for Sonic X because they liked his performance here. And then Sega put the 4kids cast into Shadow the Hedgehog and the rest was history. It is very weird how Kirby somehow influenced Sonic, even if in such a minor way.

Kirby being so happy to be involved is adorable and shows that despite everything Deedeedee does to him, he still sees the King as being friend shaped.
