You make it easy to understand. I have been preparing taxes for a while. I have never heard this easy approach. I truly welcome your videos.

Thanks for this! So much easier to understand than I thought. You are a gifted translator of the ugly code. 🥰

Let's say I donated $100 via Paypal to a non-profit 501(c)(3) like you mentioned in the video. Paypal kind of gave of me a receipt of my donation, can I use that as evidence of my donation when filling my return next year? Or do I need to email the charity itself for some documentation of my donation if for some reason I am audited.? Thanks. Great vid.

Ideally, you should have both: proof of payment and an acknowledgement from the charity.

Very informative video! How can include charitable donations on a 1099 nec form or is it possible?
@TheTaxGeek

1099 NEC is used when more than $600 is paid to a contract laborer. You would not use 1099 NEC in conjunction with charitable contributions

Sorry if this is a silly Q, or if you answered it and I didn't catch it-- so can you do non-cash donations that come out to $500 or less AS WELL as cash donations that come out to $250 or less, or would you have to combine both of those donations to not exceed one or the other? If that makes sense.

Yes. On Schedule A cash donations go on one line and non cash on another. If non cash donation exceed $500, you would file form 8283.

I want to send my kid to a Non Profit Sports program that provides Strength Training, Basketball skills development and Education Services for GPA and ACT/SAT scores so they can get a collage scholarship. Can I deduct the expense for this service also they charge well below what the value of the services really cost.

I'm afraid not, because you're receiving services in exchange for what you're paying. It's similar to paying school tuition to a non-profit private school.

So you’re using a lesbian couple & their “daughter” in conjunction with their “church” as an example? I don’t need to hear any more. Abomination.
