⁠​⁠@@OtterMTBtech yeah it is! I’ll say this; without having consulted the considerable knowledge you provide about things like Fox coils, I woulda been in trouble lol. But it got me thinking: despite expecting the worst and experiencing the opposite - I wonder what elements of a frame resonate with the DHX? I bought the DHX used that originally came off a Transition Relay. I put it on a carbon transition frame. So yeah. Lots of good cross over. But the small bump sensitivity and jump line experience for me was vastly different than yours and I’m chalking it up to frame and the shock placement along the seat stay. Whatever that pivot type is called, I forget lol

Glad to hear it’s good. I also spent considerable about of time on ohlins ext push shocks. Next try get a bladder style like dvo ohlins ext . More pop than old float x same tractions you get now

I've also had good luck with running cascade links on bikes that aren't progressive enough for a coil (2019 transition patrol) I'd highly suggest trying one if they make it for your bike ​@@OtterMTBtech

I like the sun tour better. Unfortunately, we can’t ride the dhx2 because it’s small shaft. Good to hear you enjoy it. That’s all that matters.

do not bother with extensions. i have tried it, and it gets loose all the time. in bike park, i could not complete one ride without it getting loose.

@@OtterMTBtech I haven't no, I know the Marzocchi is based off an X2 but it has different internals and tuning to the Fox.

Definetly. Custom tuning a shock can get so much out of it. Most shocks are tuned for the average comfort riding dad and not a hard charging mountainbiker and tunind for a example a dpx2 which is dirt cheap will make it outperform most shocks. So yes right tune helps A LOT.

It was off YT Capra. The Specialized tunes are good, but they are like make up. They are covering up something bad or enhancing something good. Example the Mantiou Marra excellent shock through and through Float X excellent shock, tried both Kenevo SL tune and off the shelf both good. Slightly better compression on KSL shock. DPX2 and Superdeluxe are rubbish without a tune or make up

@@OtterMTBtech yeah and that’s the point, thy yt linkage is way more progressive (I mean up to 30%) an the kenevo linkage is 20%. So the tune will be more on the lighter sight. Overall you’re right the dpx is just garbage 😂 But I love and appreciate your tests ❤️

My complaint of no small bump seems pretty wide spread on DHX. I ordered a little knob thing and will give it another go

They’re sold out in USA. I have 2 shocks I tried to pull the knob off the other shock and couldn’t get it off. I’ll test the theory. Thank you. The last Float X I didn’t touch the knob left it wide open, 1 before was KSL take off was fine as well. This shock is YT Capra take off. Wonder what knob is turned on. The light damper oil was allot better

@@OtterMTBtech I'm only 75kg and it was really harsh small bump. Was an oem tune for a spectral but many people on forums complained about it too.

I like the bike better with a coil shock. The X2 works good, to be honest the best shock I have used on that motorcycle is the Suntour Voro

150 is high ifp pressure, dropped it to 100, didn’t fix it

@@OtterMTBtech without knowing the exact valve architecture you cant say that a certain ifp-pressure is high or not. you have to make sure theres not cavitation, so the ifp pressure has to always be higher than the maximum local pressure difference (at the valve!). unfortunately with a larger diameter rod theres going to be a smaller effective piston area which in turn leads to higher pressure differences needed to achieve the desired damping forces and thus higher ifp-pressure.

@@OtterMTBtech They dont quit beause there is a bunch of people who use it soo lightly that somehow it does not brake apart. But any kind of proper usage will obliterate that rear LINKAGE. its been 5 years now. its literally a scam.
