the line "when you lose things you gain things too" really made me think of "cause there were pages turned with the bridges burned, everything you lose is a step you take."
I think Taylor saw the 5 stages of grief fan theory and was like "okay that looks fun". In the description of the playlists it says that she inspired by the theory.
I initially misheard you’re losing me as ‘my heart won’t skip anymore’, and then as ‘my heart won’t stop anymore’ and now I know it’s ‘my heart won’t start anymore’ and that was just a rollercoaster of emotions for me 😭
The reason why 'Betty' is in denial playlist!!!!! I just figured that we know Joe used to run away from Taylor when they were having issues "Running throught the hallway", etc. So in one of his running away, he might have seen someone and then came back to Taylor saying that it was not serious(blah blah blah) which is what she might be saying through the folklore triangle and the reason why 'Betty' is in denial playlist! This would also mean that the holes in there relationship where deep even before lockdown.
If we think Cornelia Street in the “bargaining” list is hard to digest, imagine if Reputation songs were added to these playlists. We would die dead/rip us. 😂🖤
am i the only one immediately thinking of her pointing at the crowd and then screaming moment in the eras tour movie when reading the „the crowd goes wild at her fingertips, half moonlight, full eclipse“ lyrics??? 🤯
Lately i feels like i’m in a literature lesson when i hear your analysis of songs❤️it feels very professional and hearing you talking about real literature subjects during the video connecting to Taylor💪🏽keep going girl!
It also gives inspiration of what can you do with your degree and in what different directions you can take your profession through(i mean also in interesting whys like youtube)
"Half moonshine, full eclipse" She is the sun, he is the moon, he kept her from shining. She's bejeweled, and she's ready to be in the spotlight again. Also, this seems incredibly obvious to me but nobody is talking about it: "And when I meet the band, they ask, 'do you have a man?' I could still say, 'I don't remember'" It was an on again-off again relationship, she doesn't remember because towards the end everything was muddy.
For some reason this analysis and these playlists are giving me such insight into what actually happened that we didn't know about before so thanks for that!! Also about bonus tracks I'm guessing if someone uploads them as a spotify podcast or on youtube then we could probably listen to them
Lover being on the playlist reflects HER being delusional. Lover is a love song, and if you relate to it, it doesn’t mean you’re delusional as well or that it ruins it if it was your wedding song. The delusion was in how perfect it painted her relationship to be, even though in reality, her relationship was far from healthy and there were already red flags
So I know that everybody knows this, but I just wanted to write it down here. There's this poem, "L'albatros" by Charles Baudelaire. This is the last stanza of the poem, "The Poet is like this prince of the clouds Who haunts the tempest and laughs at the archer; Exiled on the ground, in the midst of jeers, His giant wings keep him from walking." Exile? Archer? The Poet? Clouds like Lavender Haze? "Giant wings keep him from walking?" Anti-hero reference?...hello omg?
i think my favorite is gonna be i can do it with a broken heart and but daddy i love him. it sounds like the perfect song for me. i’m sooo exited to hear these songs. and i kinda hope it’s gonna have the melodies of the red album, but in the end it’s probably gonna be something like midnights or 1989 even 😂. omg i can’t decide. we will see 👀
My prediction is that this album is going to be the most iconic thing we have ever heard and that it's going to have a new sound we haven't heard from her before- like Midnights 2.0 with like a darker sound. I also think the title track is going to be my fave. And lasty I think we are really not going to be ok after this lmao.
Hey just heard the ttpd and im sure you did too gosh we need a lyric breakdown desperately like instantly cause i found so much "evidence" 😉which i wanna share and i wanna know what others found. 😭😭😭
How you said “I can do it with a broken heart” is like how she had to go through the breakup aftermath during the tour it might be long live 2.0 like a song for the fans thanking us for helping her through hard times. Idk lol.
ok i have something to say: sign of the times by harry is 5:40 seconds. if you guys are larries you would know that harry wore a shirt that had but daddy i love him on it. so is she gonna release a song about larry or just harry in general? i know this relationship was a while ago and we already have like style and is it over now but i mean still...
When I heard about Joever for the first time, I thought about how Taylor was afraid of their relationship ending since the very beggining (or at least I interpreted that from her lyrics, since she expressed this fear as soon as the reputation album). And, back then I thought that this kind of paranoia about your relationship ending might take a toll on the relationship. Now, I'm thinking: she just had a very good intuition and knew that eventually Joe's private lifestyle would demand a division from her very famous lifestyle that she does love, but that she decided to go ahead with the relationship anyways because they were really passionate about each other and she wanted to see if somehow these very different priorities of the both of them would be sorted out. And for the longest time, she denied that this issue wasn't being solved. She did try to make some sacrifices to appease him (i.e. all the work to go secretly to places, the bolting to escape paparazzi, the changes made to the way she writes, talks about and markets her songs, etc.). But, (and I don't know these people or how their relationship was, I'm talking as if they're characters from a fiction story), it seems he didn't really make a lot of concessions to the lifestyle Taylor loves so much. To me, in the lyrics “You say you don't understand and I say I know you don't” from You're Losing Me is about her planning a tour and/or big marketing strategy, and being excited about going back into the spotlight and him being “but why would you want that? I don't understand” and being very anti-mainstream pretentious artsy boy, not realizing Taylor worked her whole life to get the notoriety she has in her career now and how important that is to her. Even years into their relationship, he still did not understand a very important side of who Taylor is. And, as she knew from the beggining, their differences led them to different paths.
I recently read the book Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, the book that Taylor wrote tolerate it about, and the songwriting fits the storyline so well! I really enjoyed the book and it was so interesting to read a piece of Taylor’s inspiration!
Great analysis of these playlists, Nena! I loved watching this video as prep for TTPD!! I’m so excited! 😆 I’m totally claiming track 13, “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.” 🤍 I’m glad you are excited about that one two. I hope it exceeds our expectations! I’ll be meeting you and all our fellow Swifties at the department meeting, tonight at MIDNIGHT! 🕛
the way I was just thinking “I hope Nena posts a new TTPD video soon” and I check my subscriptions and see that a new one is up 🤩 can’t wait to watch!!
Thank you for posting the chord charts of Taylor’s songs on your website! I’ve been trying to learn to sing and play at the same time and they are very helpful! Thank you again! Cheers!
As a poet, I kind of think saying "tortured poets" is a bit redundant. WE'RE ALL TORTURED, I say in my angstiest voice ever! 😫 . . . 😉 Actually, that's not true. The poets who write limericks are probably super happy all the time! 😊 Bottom line, I hope this album leads people to appreciate what I and my fellow poets do. And whilst I'm not the biggest Taylor Swift fan, I guess I can thank her for that.
I wonder if the "2" that keeps popping up everywhere could be a nod to a second part of TTPD (i.e. a sister album about the fifth & final stage of grief... acceptance).
omg can you please make a tutorial for Alley rose- Conan gray. Can't find a good tutorial and youre my go-to! Preferably the version he played acoustically in Brighton. IT WOULD MEAN SO MUCH!! ITS SUCH A GOOD SONG
Its interesting u brought up that albatross can spend up to 6 yrs at sea without touching the land.. Means it can only be seen once awhile..& Taylor's been living in isolation with Joe for 6 yrs.. Its insane to think someone like her who entire life live for ppl to cheer/clap for her can live like that for THAT LONG..with love of her life or not. Coincidence?? Definately NO. She gonna hang Joe dry on this. BTR kind of vibe. Or about a sense of loosing herself or living in delusional life for that whole period..which gonna tear us apart..👀👀👀 💙💙💙💙💙
what ttpd song do you think will be he best? here’s my ranking: 1. Florida!!! 2: but daddy I love him 3: so long, London 4 loml 5 down bad 6 fresh out the slammer 7 my boy only breaks his favorite toys 8 guilty as sin 9 I can fix him no rlly i can 10 fortnight 11 the alchemy 12 who’s afraid of little old me? 13 Clara bow 14 I can do it with a broken heart 15 the black dog 16 the bolter 18 the tortured poets department 19 Manuscript 20 Albatross 21 the smallest man who ever lived
I can do it with a broken heart being explicit honestly scares me, that one's gonna hurt. Also, that crewneck is amazing, but they don't ship it to Germany 😭
