Have you ever tried using some kind of "sand" blaster to clean the material? I'm thinking something like baking soda as a medium so it's soft, then with low power. I wonder if that would be a good way to clean off the burn marks?
@TrotecLaser
@TrotecLaser 2 месяца назад
I have; this is an excellent option if you have a sandblaster, see this laser hack video on this process:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-THVUz9_6VoY.htmlsi=WAf6QLGNTDGZPWr6

@@TrotecLaser This is very true. Using water to scrub and clean up the char, burn marks, and residue will definitely warp wood...having done this way, way too many times. I've been meaning to try Dave's sandblasting method but I not sure what media to use ( I know to avoid sand because of the hazards). Proper PPE should be used of course.

Hi Dave! This looks so cute! I would love to make someting like this on my speedy 100 (30-40W) in clear acrylic. What settings do I need to use with this wattage?
@TrotecLaser
@TrotecLaser 2 месяца назад
This is possible, but acrylic is a bit more complicated. Just run it at 100% power, 30% Speed, 1000DPI with two passes, and turn Relief mode on- after it is engraved, take it out of focus to glaze the acrylic with a third pass similar to this other laser hack for the best effect: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZLzusZLZMi4.htmlsi=3F5jrM54-l0GoMzy. - Laser Dave

Hey Dave. Thanks for the video. I can't seem to be able to use the trace tool. Its been permanently greyed out for me. Any thoughts on how to get it to activate?

The Trace tool will only light up with JPG, BMP, or PNG file formats; if the file is a vector format, it will not light up.

Great stuff Dave. What is the 100% power? 80w, 120w......
@TrotecLaser
@TrotecLaser 2 месяца назад
Adjust the speed of a 120-watt laser from 50% on an 80-watt up to 65%, leaving all the other settings the same; this will speed up the process and account for the increased laser wattage to produce the same effect! Happy AI 3D laser carving!!!!!! -Laser Dave

Hi! I have a 48 watt diode laser machine. Will I be able to make it even a little bit like yours? Or just a Co2 laser?
@TrotecLaser
@TrotecLaser 2 месяца назад
Diode lasers should be able to carve like this. However, beyond the laser type, it will depend on whether the software of that laser can produce a relief mode or 3D effect, where the software tells the laser to change the power for every pulse based on the shade of grayscale. Check with your manufacturer to see if they have a relief mode or a 3D mode to achieve this effect.

Can you do a Video using the Copilot app , I downloaded it but not sure how to do what you've done with 3d
@TrotecLaser
@TrotecLaser 2 месяца назад
The process with Copilot is precisely the same. Copilot is using the same "Dall.E" image generator that was used in this video; it is just built into Microsoft Bing. Just open it up, type in that you want to create a "3D bas-relief image in greyscale," and tell it the image details!

The X-tool may be able to do this, but they will need a 3D mode or relief mode.

Love your tutorials (but the music is repetative and thus very annoying). I have a 80w co2 from a different brand and constantly hear to avoid using 100% power because it reduces the lifespan of the lasertube, yet in most (if not all?) of your videos you use 100% power. Is Trotec different than other co2 lasers in that regard or am I missing something? (I know relief mode is the exception since it varies power)
@TrotecLaser
@TrotecLaser 2 месяца назад
Our lasers are built with a ceramic core, allowing them to operate at 100% power without any issues. They can run at full power duty for 7-10 years before any reduction in laser power occurs. Typically, any decrease in laser power is due to the passage of time rather than usage. Therefore, the more hours you run our lasers during the first 7-10 years, the more production output you will achieve. I will work to improve my music in future videos; thank you for the suggestion.

@@TrotecLaser That is very interesting, so no lasertube? Thanks for the info, I will look into it more. Hopefully our business takes off so we can invest in a trotec in the future 😀 No music is the best music in tutorials 😉
