Deep fried ice cream has been a thing for decades, same with Oreos and cheesecake and other shit. The cheesecake is soooo good. Sucks there’s barely ever places that sell them outside of festivals and carnivals :(
Chi Chi's Mexican Restaurant used to serve this dessert in the 90s. Their version was served with cinnamon sugar on a fried flour tortilla. It was to die for! I ate that dessert every month until they closed business.
I worked at García kitchen and we made fried ice cream desserts to go along with the sopilas.... and we rolled the frozen ice cream in crushed crispy rice...or coconut flakes.... and quickly deep fried it
Nah. In my country this thing are already a thing for years and costed less then 5 dollar or maybe lesser for a box of 8 pieces. I'm not sure the difference of currency with US dollar.
Uncle roger :"NOOOO WHY YOU RUIN THE ICEE CREAMMMM , HAIYAAAAAA......" Edit : Many people take this too seriously , literally , this is just a joke , ik its good for some people , i just put this for a joke and comedy IF uncle really said that. ik he wont
You're talking about Tempura style ice cream though. This is different. It's Mexican and or Mexican-American fried ice cream with different ingredients. I've had a lot of both. This is way better in MOST cases and it's so simple.
This is the type of dessert where the first bite tastes like paradise and the second sends you there. Edit: I’m one of those people now. So many likes. Also, for all of u saying it’s overused in the comments, I know- but it does apply here 💀 Ok ok, let me make an original one to quell your anger: “This is the kind of desert where you smile after the first bite because it tastes so good- and then your teeth all fall out after the second one.” Also it’s very important to give credit so Ty Uncle Roger for the first comment here.
I remember we had deep fried ice cream in Bali for dessert and it was FREE ! Obviously we gave them tips since the staff in the restaurant were really nice and I mean how could you have this amazing delicacy for free ?! It was an interesting experience for sure !
@@Iyan345_ Honestly it's the best place we've been so far for the holidays. My parents, especially my mum, became good friends with one of the hotel's manager and the rest of the staff, so our rooms are often upgraded whenever we come. I wish it wasn't so far from where we are now. I can't wait to go back and hopefully bring my next partner there. :)
@@Mariamsadventure Is it healthy? Lets think. It's ice cream that has been deep fried. Ice cream is pure cream and sugar, basically. And deep frying is covering it in some bready exterior coating, in this case sugary cereal, and boiling it in pure fat until it's crispy. So, no, pure cream and sugar, covered in sugary cereal and then boiled in pure fat is not healthy, I would gander a guess.
I take that you wouldn't like it in countries like Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Egypt, and Thailand then, where creating and recreating new food is a weekly thing
The restaurant I used to work at had fried ice cream on the menu for a time. I believe they used crushed honey bunches of oats for the coating. They would also keep balls of ice cream (just smaller than the ones in the video) frozen solid, flash fry them for a some odd seconds, and then top it with cinnamon sugar, caramel and served it with a churro-like thing. It was one of my all time favorite desserts!
Damn, I ordered this one time at a Mexican restaurant. They just gave me a scoop of ice cream rolled around in corn flakes 😭 Edit: The restaurant is called Rey Azteca in Carmichael California.
The way my family makes this is with cinnamon toast crunch or conflakes mixed with cinnamon, and then we drizzle a little honey on top. It's a very good combo!
@@sumotisingha3687 Yep! They had it at a restaurant (decades ago) and decided to try and recreate it. So I grew up eating it, usually just a couple times a year though :P
Growing up is a little girl. We had an authentic Mexican restaurant in a small town in North Carolina and one of my favorite waiters who was like a father to me was from Mexico and he used to go out of his way to make this for me even though it wasn't ever on the menu. He even made me and my friends a few of them for my third birthday along with a big teddy bear that he bought me. So this video brought back a lot of memories that I haven't thought about for a while. Thank you so much. 🥹❤️ I'm now 27 and would love to make this for my kiddos. ❤️
YT needs to add an "Save to ..." option to Shorts already. I see so many recipes I want to try out but it gets mixed in with the rest of my likes. EDIT: Seems like a few people think I’m an idiot, so I’ll just let this be clear. I have an iPhone, and it seems like that option isn’t available on iOS yet but it is on android. Also I use PC as well and it’s not an option there either. “Just like the video duh” well, I do, but I shouldn’t have to siphon through all my liked videos just to find one video…I like a lot of videos. I would also like to say, thank you to the ones that actually giving me some tips on a work around (even though YT should just add the damn feature they’ve already had for over a decade). TLDR: Im not an idiot, the feature doesn’t exist for me, thanks to the ones that helped, YT sucks for not having a feature they already created before.
GOSH! This is how I make my tacos theoretically, I use cold cheese, cold salsa, piping hot meat and combine it. It's such an amazing mix of hot and cold.
I remember when I was young, my grandparents took me to a restaurant that had fried ice cream ... and it always had a hint of cinnamon. Yours is an excellent suggestion.
You know you've succeeded in life when you have the ability to deep fry ice cream Edit: i did not expect my comment from 5 months ago to still have likes
I worked at a Mexican restaurant where the waiters made this particular order. We didn't crush them, but rolled directly into cereal, pressing down hard to embed the cereal a bit. No eggs were ever needed. I think it was prettier and I'd rather not have the eggs in it. You can also add caramel sauce or honey instead of chocolate. A favorite!
I used to eat fried ice cream. At that time there was a cafe shop not far from my house and they made one of the best fried ice cream I have ever had before. Although it took place long time ago, I still remember the sweet flavour of durian and the crunchy itself
@@cheesecakes.x Well, that cafe shop was closed 5 years ago because the owner died from car accident. However, Vung Tau has many fancy ice cream shop so it is nice for you to visit and try everything. Life is short!
@@cheesecakes.x I think fried ice cream is rare but it's easy to indulge yourself in Vung Tau ice cream. Highly recommend kem bơ sầu riêng, kem dừa and bingsu.
Back in the day my go to dessert was fried ice cream at this Mexican restaurant called Chi-Chi's. It was Absolutely delicious!!! Now I will most definitely try this. Thank you.
@@robertflippin9112 its the same as frying frozen chicken or potatoes to be honest, the corn flakes, then egg and more corn flakes create enough of a barrier for a very short fry so that you can have the 'fried' outside, with hopefully minimal melting of the ice cream. Would not recommend frying actual straight ice, grease cleanup is not fun
People not knowing that this is actually a FREAKING DOPE DESSERT is baffling to me! I'm from India and I first tried it at a wedding nearly a decade ago and have since been OBSESSED. I swear, it's a delicious combo!
Man I would go to this restaurant Las Carretas (still do) and order this and a Shirley temple with my meal as a kid/teen. Good gracious the simple beauty thank y’all 😭🙌🏾
I think it's not worth it of making that i know it's hot but it will make down your shirt and you will scream because how hot it is you have to also clean your shirt if you do that the other ice cream shoe made are just a waste
