That SP-16 is so easy to use and having the 16 pads and 16-step sequencer is so intuitive. Every sampler should have this layout from now on. Listen up, Akai. Love the Deepmind. Going to purchase a 2nd SP-16 for my DJ studio. It's just that good.
Awesome, subbed. Is it difficult on your eyes to look back and forth at the DM12's screen and the Toraiz? They are worlds apart so I wonder about that. Great job here!
Thank you, dawg. The DM12 screen is pretty lousy, but luckily I only really need to use it when editing FX. During a performance like this I don't really find myself looking at it, I'm just playing with the filter sliders and listening.
Lol 😆 agree! I’m doing some fire 🔥 with mines as well! And I own the X, the One, and the Maschine + it’s competing with all of them! Don’t wait get one before the price goes back up! I’m selling my X and putting the SP-16 in its place 😱🧊
@@IMakeBeats You getting rid of the X in favor of the old-school Toraiz is the final bit of evidence I needed to avoid Akai's offerings altogether and go with my intuition about the SP-16 as the overall front end. Saw your video about the 1.6 firmware update as well, and have learned that they've improved LOTS of stuff since release. Plus it's *incredibly* candy-like. Them buttons are juicy, and beckoning me to click 'em❣
@@abysssss realize you're limiting yourself with SP-16. However, I own a SP-16. It does have some limitations. However, it's just so intuitive SO GOT DAMN EASY TO UNDERSTAND. Having the pads and 16-step sequencer is such a powerful method to create music that makes so much sense. Why Akai hasn't implemented a 16-step sequencer is beyond me. I also have an Elektron RYTM MKII. But the bottom line, I work more on the SP-16 above everything else. While the SP-16 doesn't have the capabilities of Akai Live II, I work on the SP-16 the most because the user interface is easy to work with and the work flow is easy to understand. Put it this, I have a SP-16 for my production studio. I'm buying a 2nd SP-16 for my DJ studio. The SP-16 is just that good with its interface. It may not be the best sampler out there but what it can do, it does incredibly well and easily. Pioneer always builds high quality equipment. What's most impressive is its ease of use.
@@ErwinSchrodinger64 very well said’. It’s now the center piece in my main studio. Even though the mpc one and Maschine + have-more options, the workflow on the SP-16 is hard to beat! 🎹🔥👊🏾
Love the tune, but after a while that high C becomes annoying. Try a low C with some modulation instead. It fills the track and wont be annoying and use the high note sparsely, but that's just my opinion/taste.
Nah, everything was done on the hardware. The Deepmind has some nice fx, so for example all the sounds with ping pong delay were made on the Deepmind and sampled into the SP16.
@@lukeelderkin but I see there are only 2 trigger modes one shot and gate….I don’t want to keep holding the pad to play the loop. Will it continuously loop with the sequence?
