I remember there were two asteroid/comet movies that year, this one and Armageddon. Always preferred Deep Impact, it was much more powerful movie than the goofy Armageddon movie which made little to no sense.
Thought I'd play a few selected tracks this morning, after hearing the devastating news. RIP Mr James Horner "he's really not dead, as long as we remember him"
So many sweet memories attached to this movie. Watched it when I was 12 years old. The end scenes with those astronauts made me so emotional. And the soundtrack is so beautiful. RIP legend James Horner.
It's Wonderfull, This song bring memories from the bottom of my heart, from my beloved ones Who gone, and my childhood i miss it so much, sometimes we dont Have any idea about the value of our family, and how important they are for us
Same here. Much of the 90’s movies soundtracks had this same sentimental & melancholy note to them, but for me they exist as an anchor, brimming with nostalgia of times past, simpler times.
Among the family films I watched as a kid, were those scored by James Horner. Films such as AN AMERICAN TAIL I and II, THE LAND BEFORE TIME, HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS, ONCE UPON A FOREST, WE'RE BACK A DINOSAUR'S STORY, THE PAGEMASTER, CASPER, JUMANJI, and BALTO. TROY has been one of my favorite films since I was a teenager. I recently saw THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN, and Horner's score was awesome! JAMES HORNER IS THE MAN! THE DUKE OF FILM MUSIC!
Last time I watched Deep Impact, I actually fought back tears in a few scenes (namely the scene where the reporter and her dad are on the beach). Which is really saying something, because I NEVER cry during movies.
Amazing movie, it was emotional, I cryed when the man on the space ship said good to he's baby and his wife before they crashed in to the comet to safe people on the earth, you never no this could happen in real life, if theres no other way
I don't know what it is about James Horner, but he seems to have such obvious style of composing to when it comes to film scores. Like he used very similar techniques of Orchestration in many of his films. For example I could relate many musical techniques used in the score and the perform storm score. Not saying it's bad though by any means. I really love the techniques that James Horner used!
@AbortFlight i agree with u! deep impact was original...then they found out and where like...THATS A GREAT IDEA....LET´S GO FOR IT....the result? they filmed armagedon very qickly just to win the idea....armagedon released first.....it was ok....but then came this and people tought it was the same and didn´t give it a chance...pitty. this film is awesome and way more realistic than armagedon....i love it
" When I was ten I stole 35 dollars from your dresser drawer " " When you were a baby , I once dropped you on your head " ( Ackward moment ) " I led when I said I didn't remember those pictures . Mom was over there when she took them . It's been a long time ......Iv'e missed you since then " " Me To " Asteroid comes into the atmosphere , " Biederman !!!!"
Yes James Horner recycles a lot of his music. My sister who doesn't know anything about movie scores (She just listens to the Jonas Brothers lol) thought this score was from Bicentennial man. I was quite surprised she even recognize it was James Horner, then again all his work sounds similar.
