'Lucille' was a huge hit by rock n' roll icon Little Richard in the 50's... George Harrison and The Beatles were huge Little Richard fans... Deep Purple covered 'Lucille' in their set since the 60's as Ian Gillan was a huge fan, as well as the members of Deep Purple.
Hi Rebecca, you're my go-to girl for Deep Purple 💗 💕. 130 million lps sold. 1973, the biggest band in the world in gate receipts and lps sold. Repeated it again in 1984. Rip Jon Douglas Lord 😢 🙏
You've got a crush on Ian Gillan🤣!! I saw DP in '84 at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater and they didn't play this song, and no George Harrison either. Now I feel cheated.😮💨 Little Richard wrote this song in '57, which is why you may be getting an Elvis vibe. I can't believe this footage is 50 years old! And time marches on. Have a great weekend. Rock on!🤘

This was during Deep Purple's 1984 reunion and comeback tour for the album 'Perfect strangers'... This line-up (Mark II) had not played together since 1973... and they recorded a live album "Nobody's perfect"... followed by the next studio album 'House of Blue Light' in 1987. Just prior to the reunion, Ian Gillan (vocals) did an album ('Born again') w/ Black Sabbath (He also had his own solo bands - Gillan... the Ian Gillan Band) ... Ritchie Blackmore (guitar) was enjoying a successful career w/ Rainbow, which featured Roger Glover (bass) since 1979... Jon Lord (keyboards) and Ian Paice (drums) spent a few years playing in Whitesnake, the band formed by former Deep Purple singer David Coverdale.
They did three nights in a row here in Sydney. I was there, was very good. And guess what? purple will be playing in Sydney again in less than three weeks.
The Beatles and Deep Purple might feel antithetical, but Gillan's gig before the 1980s Purple reunion was, controversially, singer in Black Sabbath. A team up that also included drummer Bev Bevan of ELO. To rock minds these were things that did not sit comfortably. Gillan here, of course, is on fine form. I have a sore throat just listening to him.
Hi Rebecca you know that first little guitar riff at the beginning it almost sounded like pretty woman. Thanks Rebecca on show me how to find play Depeche mode videos.❤❤😊
basically you only react to rock and roll, because you never reacted to (nightwish), siphonic metal band, which has the best vocalist ever, (floor jansen)
Little Richard released Lucille in 1957. Queen did a GREAT cover of it as the first song in a medley in 1977: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z0k8tMSgVww.html I was fortunate enough to see Little Richard in Austin in 2007!
