Absolutely love this underrated gem of an album. Vividly remember listening to this nonstop in the car when I was 8 years old with my dad. Now I’m 23 and so blessed to have grown up on Purple and classic rock 🤘🏻
Well we have 3 same situations here 😅. me and my dad who showed this to me in the care when i was 6yrs old. Now am 16 playing guitar every day and rocking it. Thank u dady 🤣

Been a Purple fan since 72 but this is the first time I have ever heard this album. I had heard bad things about it. I think it's great! Very lively and rockin'. Fun songs and great performances. Not sure it sounds like any other DP album...
When Purple opened for Aerosmith, I announced concert that we had the greatest rock band in America (Aerosmith) but first we had the greatest rock band in the world (Deep Purple) and they opened with House of Pain.
To be fair at that point Aerosmith made I don’t want to miss a thing and probs just released fly away from here and jaded which at that point was better than purples effort.
In my humble opinion this was the first great album of deep purple since steve morse joined the band, his guitar work is fantastic and ian gillan never sounded so good since perfect strangers, thanks for sharing.
The utter talent, passion and professionalism of Ian Gillan is on show for everyone to hear especially on Haunted. What a beautiful song and gorgeous voice and man ❤️
This is a f-ing great album, start to finish. Great tunes, Gillan sounds great, Morse drives. Best I've heard since the 1-2-3 knockout of In Rock, Fireball and Machine Head. (But, truth is that although I've been a fan since '70, there are stretches of the later Purple catalog I haven't sampled. I intend to rectify this.)
The 70's Mk2 with Blackmore at his peak were an awesome band but got to give Steve Morse his due, he's a great guitarist and has kept the band moving in a fresh direction for the past 25 years. Great album.
@@mickeystanic4750 You're right, this must be the true reason why he played with them for about three decades, they just were never aware of such a mistake. And probably it took Lord to death too. Well said!
@@alessandrorossini8704 You know that Lord quit the band 12 years prior his death? Saw them twice with SM. It was very uninspiring to say the list. Not when I listen MIJ, Machine Head, etc.
What a great album......don't know why it is so ignored...many good songs. They came to Brazil in that tour in 2003...great show! Haunted is beautiful. And "I Got Your Number" has a sick riff...love this album.
DEEP PURPLE FOREVER!
Great album....same old feel. And Steve more than makes up for Blackmore's absence although I don't want to take away anything from the erstwhile great. Miss you very much Jon Lord (R.I.P.)
Have you ever had a woman that could make you crazy Have you ever had a woman that could drive you mad Have you ever had a woman give you so much trouble And the best lovin' you ever had My friends all say I'm losing it big time But I know where I've got to go I'm going back there again I'm going back there again I'm going back there again Back to the house of pain Have you ever had a rock that just keeps on rollin' Have you ever seen a train comin' down the track Have you ever jumped into the cold, cold river And know there's no turning back My friends all say I'm crazy, baby But I know where I've got to go I'm going back there again I'm going back there again I'm going home Back to the house of pain Have you ever had a weight that was much too heavy Have you ever had a burden that was yours alone Have you ever spent a night when you keep on waiting Staring at the telephone My friends all say I'm crazy But I know where I've got to go I'm going back there again I'm going back there again I'm going back there again Back to the house of pain
Beautiful Singing, love the stereo sounds and the riffs, also the backing vocals is one of my favorite things, the inclusion of different instruments for the beat and the synthisizer. "Razzle Dazzle" and "Sun Goes Down" are fantastic.
I still can't believe one of the all time greatest hard rock legends with a career spanning over 50 years named this album Bananas. As for this album, it's hard rock on a monumental scale.
@@alessandroveneziani6271It's probably the most "Gillan" DP album. It sounds more like his solo stuff than any other purple LP. It just drips with his style
@@maidenchick1307 I sent an em to Caramba and the next thing I knew I got an answer and they asked me if I wanted back stage passes!! Met him 2 times aagain after that and the last time he even remembered me!
I actually like the album cover. you know, sometimes it's more than a beautiful drawn or simple picture, is what the idea evokes on the person that is looking at. I like to see a cover like this one, and think about the many types of people and lives different from my common and standard "big city regular citizen" life, which I love it, but it's definitely not the standard for majority of people living in this world. Actually, 80% of people around the world barely has anything. It's just that happen that us, have the ways to communicate between ourselves, through television, internet, etc...
DP has released a great number of live recordings...and I have most of them. But one is missing..a live album from the Bananas Tour of 2004/2005. The DP Bannanas concert was one of the best I've been to.

You can tell right away this wasn't produced by Roger Glover. The bass is right up front in this one. Roger always lets the other guys shine when he produces.
No, it's not. That would be Machine Head. Perfect Strangers is pretty good, and I personally like the 3rd album a lot. Also, if you like Ian's vocals, Sabbath's Born Again is a pretty good record, I don't care what people say.
