Correct. everyone talks about clapton eddie van halen etc .Fact is richie blackmore was the trailblazer for a lot of todays guitarists .this solo was impeccable from a man right at the top of his game much imitated NEVER BETTERED.A vastly underrated guitarist he would take a back seat to NO ONE. A true master hats off to you richie.

I grew up in the late 70s/early 80s (graduated 1983), and all throughout high school, they would periodically allow a fledgling band play in the quad during lunchtime. Every band HAD to play Highway Star. I recall some being OK, but some were pretty mediocre, LOL!

I'll be 69 later this year, and I was fortunate enough to be able to see Deep Purple play live here in Vancouver BC when they were touring for this album. Unforgettable. Unlike us, this song never gets old!

67 years young with 40% hearing loss on the left ear and 70 % on the right ear. Hearing aids are great. As a kid, parents yelling all the time to turn it down. What did they know! This song made the hearing loss from this and other great tunes back in the day totally worth it. ROCK ON. Now when I listen to my music so does the neighbors. 🤣🤣😂😂

Ian Gillan, you are loved, admired, and when you leave us, you will not be forgotten . So sad that Ian Gillan's wife, Bron, passed away in 2022, I think. God bless her. This song is one of the greatest ever. Imagine hearing it for the first time on Machine Head in 1972 and then hearing it live. Still, the best part is Blackmore's solo. To me it sounds like freedom, a flight in the summer sky, a ride on a motorcycle or a cabriolet car with the wind blowing through your hair. I love every single second of this song. Thanks a lot to Deep Purple for this gem.
@daleemrick9816 I was mesmerized the first time I listened to Made in Japan. I found a recording containing the three full concerts and haven't been able to stop listening to it. They still got it. When I first heard Anya a few months ago (still new to DP) I couldn't stop singing it all day.

I remember seeing them at the Houston Astrodome in 1974. As a 12 year old kid it was truly life changing. It was my first concert and it set the bar very high for future concerts. I must have to thank my sister and my brother in law for taking me. Of course, Led Zepplin three years later in 1977 did top it…but that’s another story.

Roger Glover: Together with GZR Butler from Black Sabbath, he has influenced whole generations of bass players. But the guitar solo... ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! The best I ever heard.

И все, мир изменился, окрасился совсем в другие краски, стал совсем другим. Сейчас мне 67, но тот восторг, восхищение игрой музыкантов, великолепным голосом солиста остались со мной, навсегда. Какой голос был у Гиллана,фантастика. Это лучший состав,каждое соло шедеврально. Сколько лет назад это было спеть и сыграно...,а мурашки маршируют. Долгих лет всем оставшимся, Лорду светлая память. Я второго такого не знаю.

50 years ago we fell in love with this and thought it might be special but even now it moves me the same as it ever did. Even more, I think. It's timeless and I will never get tired of listening.

Нам по 60лет , а мы в ряду с гениями такой классной музыки . Hard Rock in Rock. Всё же раньше было лучше, сейчас группу послушал и через неделю забыл , а через месяц вообще не помнишь что слушал. Хотя есть песни хорошие ,но не такие. Всем здоровья и слушать наши любимые группы 70-х.
