Just an amazing song! I feel like I am unfortunately deprived of these amazing classics. But we are learning together! #deeppurple #classicrock #rock #reaction #live
Here's a list of some other 70s artists and rock bands you should consider reacting to (I know you're already aware of Zeppelin, CCR, Rush and Jethro Tull): - Steppenwolf - Bad Company - The Guess Who - Black Sabbath - Uriah Heep - Yes - Strawbs - Genesis - Emerson, Lake and Palmer - Grand Funk Railroad - Pink Floyd - King Crimson - The Moody Blues - Elton John - The Allman Brothers Band - Frank Zappa and The Mothers - Peter Frampton - Rainbow - Max Webster - Electric Light Orchestra - David Bowie - Roxy Music
I don't know who Max Webster is, though I do know that STATUS QUO are the best and greatest Rock Band in history. Peter Frampton is a soft penis. Yes are directionless Prog rubbish. If you are going to include The Guess Who then the natural thought process would be to include BTO. Randy Bachman was in both Bands. The Strawbs were a Right-Wing Conservative anti-Union group. There are some cool Bands on your list though. Bad Co. are way good.
Pink Floyd 11 and Almond Brothers 15 ? I'm hoping this is random. All and honestly all great bands. Saw most of em in the 70s or 80s. Live ? Gotta give it to Pink Floyd #1. Jam band ? Almond Brothers can take a 3 minute song and turn it into a 30 minute masterpiece. Just my opinion. This guy is digging a bunch of deep holes if he's unfamiliar with 70s music. I'd do it again. Peace ✌️
Deep Purple was so much more than smoke on the water , wait till you hear Fireball !! Studio version is fine !! Who else , , Johnny and Edgar Winter , , Tobacco Road , live !
This is the greatest live version of any song ever recorded. The intro sets it up, then it just kicks ass from beginning to end, and only gets more intense as it goes on. It's worth listening to the "Machine Head" studio version (which is great BTW), just to appreciate how elevated and amazing this version is.
This song was born on a tour bus going to Portsmouth UK in 1971, when a reporter asked the band how they wrote songs. To demonstrate, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore grabbed an acoustic guitar and began playing a riff cosisting of a single g repeated over and over, while vocalist Ian Gillan improvised lyrics over the top. the song was refined and was performed that same night.
Hey bro!! Hahaha, under a rock!! Hahaha. This is the best song to drive in a road with a nice compasión. Good reaction. Thanks. Greettings from Argentina
Did you know frontman Ian Gillan was Jesus from the original album Jesus Christ Superstar ? Look at him ! Listen to him! Andrew Lloyd Webber saw him on TV singing Child In Time and screamed, “ That’s my Jesus!” There’s video of him singing Gethsemane.
Lazy is another song that is high energy. Child In Time showcases Ian Gillen five octave range. In 73 there was a band called Hocus Pocus . They were performing Focus on The Midnight Special television show but there wasn't enough time for them to perform their song or so one would have thought. The song in normal time is a trip. But to watch them do the song in double time it's hilarious. They were a Dutch rock band. I've been a Rancher for seven decades. I am as much old country music as anything. Country had a lot of great guitar players like Chet Atkins, Roy Clark, Les Paul, Glen Campbell,....... 🤠🏞️🐂
I grew up with these guys along with Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, Jethro Tull and others. And they were my "favourites" but not any one of them was my out right favourite. Fast forward 40-50 years and I have been blind sided by a recent band that I would never have thought would occupy my top spot. A band that does admit to being influenced by Deep Purple. I recommend you check out LOVEBITES.
I was fortunate to go up in this era....im glad these famous bands are returning to the scene...we used to have to search the record stores for this great stuff way back..
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich was on his first rock concert on this concert i Denmark, when he was 11. It changedf his life forever and gave so much to Metallica, who made a little album of their inspirators, and there are several Deep Purple numbers on it-
I know what you mean about freebird, mine is by the same band, but sweet home Alabama, to cut a long story short, I was working on a Friday Saturday in London and having to stay overnight, so as you do we went out to the pub, as we were walking along the street, we heard Alabama coming out so we said this is the place as it’s playing our music, low and behold it was my cousin on the drums who I had not seen for 10yrs. The power of music.
OK, but just look at this side of This Rock... Nice job! Keep it up. Keep rolling to understanding. It may take some time, but it always comes! Thanks for highlighting my misspent youth - This is My World! rl 🤘👹🤘
Dude, you really need to listen to Deep Purple, Strange kind of woman, circa 1970 1972 If you listen to them live, you're gonna get a huge thrill with the battle of guitar and voice.
Jon Lord - 'There you go, the best solo ever in a live song.' Ritchie Blackmore - 'Hold my beer.' Ian Gillan - 'Does anybody know all the words to this song?'
Hi Daniel from the UK. Just discovered your channel. Having followed and commented on 'Embrace The Suck' for years, didn't realise you had your own. I'm here because you popped up in my feed for 'Highway Star' reaction videos - one of my all-time fave songs. Pleased to see you appreciatibg Deep Purple.
Deep Purple were amazing live and their gigs were always about the music .The live double album Made In Japan is probably the best live album ever made .
From Australia , the great legendary DEEP PURPLE , greatest British Rock band of the late 60s early 70s era , sorry Led Zeppelin people love them aswell , Peace from down under
Don't forget the incredible drumming of Ian Paice, plus Roger Glover on the bass (criminally underrated) - great rhythm section. Ritchie Blackmore is the best guitarist. Ian GIllan, in the 1970s was unbeatable as a vocalist. And the great Jon Lord (RIP) on keyboards and Hammond organ. The ultimate rock band. BTW, both of the solos are classical in form. The organ solo is based on a Bach progression, the guitar solo, as Ritchie said, "I imagined putting a bit of Mozart over it."
Would love to see a keyboardist today sound like this, Jon Lord was the G.O.A.T on keys. The 70's and 80's were the times for Guitar Heroes and you're right it is a dead art, most young guitarist unless they were influenced by these kind of bands just don't know how to solo. That's why todays modern Rock or Metal isn't that great at least IMO.
I'm 75 now, but back in the day, driving my firebird 440 with red metal flake finish and white convertible top, this track on the tape deck, with power amp and huge speakers, always got me to the end of the line, petal to the metal.
ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! Nothing beats a 70's rock guitar solo. And the best of them all were by Ritchie Blackmore! Greatest guitarist to have ever walked the earth.
Eruption begun today like twenty minutes drive away from my home.Everybody are going to see it but i prefer staying home and listen to Deep Purple .I´m 66 years old and they have been by my side since i was 10 or 12 years old. They are pure Gold.
Gday mate: I've got an Australian band from the same era for you to do a deep dive into. Masters Apprentices. Start with their song, "Because I love you". Then go through their entire catalogue. This is one of those bands that you will ask yourself, "Why haven't I heard of them?"
Well, said about the 1970 S guitar solo brother, nothing will ever beat it until next time. Stay well popping for fresh and keep on keeping on more, please.
Just as you appreciated this great track, I appreciated your eloquent and meaningful comments.Thank you. In the 70's the performers were musicians. Today the performers are... performers.
The Year:1973 The Venue: The Royal Albert Hall: West London, with 5,000 capacity crowd The Group: Deep Purple The cost...............................25 PENCE or 34 CENTS.....
We as was from this time don't understanding that this was a special time..i get it 30 after about year 2000 that this musicians bands and the reason why they was so good don't exist on a stage anymore they love to play yeah some of them make money but it was not the number one goal..it was love to the music...🎶🇸🇪🎶🇸🇪🎶🇸🇪🎶
Thank you for your comments, I am 64 and was born with this kind of music, with respect for music of any time I have the impression that nowadays it is not so much about creativity, experimentation pure skills and just being on top of your art but rather production, marketing, fashion, etc.. maybe wrong but this is why I personally listen much less to modern and more to classic rock/pop music
You should try to listen to their song Space Truckin' from Made in Japan. It's a short song made long by improvisation and them listening to each other.
I've been pulled over 3 times for driving way too fast when listening to this song. Others you might like to dive into is The Mule (if you love drum solos), Woman from Tokyo, and Space Truckin;...the list is vast and exciting. I was 9 years old when this video was captured. The entire concert can be found here on RU-vid. It's time well spent for this epic ear candy. I could go the rest of my life without hearing Free Bird ever again. It was so OVERPLAYED that I can't stand it. Same goes for Stairway to Heaven.
Music is recorded, one , to spread the word for money ,two as an archive for you. You are getting the same enjoyment as we got listening for the first time.
Legendary Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore was born not 1 mile from where I'm sitting, in the town of Weston-super-mare, in North Somerset, UK - just sayin 😁
There was no video coverage of the Made in Japan performances. The videos you see are using images from a show in Copenhagen, while the audio is the original from the Made in Japan LP.
Dude, there is a small amount of video recovered from the final show of the made in Japan tour. Look for the Smoke on the Water video which is the only complete song
Fireball from that same concert I think (not sure, it's also black and white, it just says Fireball (Live)) is awesome. Ian Paice double bass intro, they bring another bass drum just for that.
They literally wrote this song on a tour bus when a reporter who was accompanying the band asked about their songwriting process. They wrote it on the bus and performed it that night!
