This mix reminds me of being a young child like 8 listening to Rockers cruising up the road in the back seat of my Aunt and Uncle's car on the Erin Rd to Palo Seco stretch in deep South Trinidad. It was a vybe! Just driving in the dark heading home chilling. 🏡

I was introduced to roots reggae in the 80s by WHFS, an alternative music station in the Wash, DC area. A sista, Niecey was dj'ing. The music transported me to another world--inhaling the music instead of the substance. This mix reminds me of those days. Thank you for posting.
my baptism was in form of my mother listening to roots reggae compilation tapes her doctor friend made for her.she worked night shift and i remember those magical early summer mornings listening to these sounds while half asleep.often the muzak sort of mixed with my dreams creating this magical sound/dreamscape.we lived in place where swifts nested and their song blended with all this creating lasting memories.this was in mid 70`s.

I've searched n searched on yt for a similar mixes.. Grew up in the 70s n 80s. Always loved deep conscious roots reggae/rare n obscure. Not a really a person tht gives compliments. However these vols are the best on YT tht I have ever heard n takes a lot to please me.

This is so good. Back in the day we were always going to live reggae bands. Steel Pulse, Black Uhuru,. Burning Spear was my favorite and I do not know how many times I have seen him live. Linton Kwinton Johnson just the one time in Paradiso. Best song was Africa must be free by Hugh Mundell. Thank you for this video bringing back all those good memories.
@ilselangley I went to see Burning Spear perform in Rototom Sundance in Spain in August 2022. It was magic, so much power ❤ Last time I saw him before that was in Paradiso around 1999 or 2000.
These 3 volumes are absolutely astounding.. What mixes n a phenomenal selection of true roots, reality, spiritual consciousness.. The horns everyting musical instrument Im sure I even heard the Kora African harp strings..
lol, all Reegae music literally sounds the same, props to how anyone can distinguish the same beat a billion times over and the same female or male singers, to me, you can have 1 reegae album in your collection and that pretty much covers all the bases, lol 😂💯✌🏻
Nikki Lane is so great. Seen her many times in Fort Worth/Dallas area. Always humble and sweet. This is one of my favorite songs. Still live in Texas and my Gf is in the Philippines. ..the East. This song hits different but it's still bittersweet. I work here for 5 months out of the year and I just count the days til I'm back with her. 🫀
